  1. I agree... except a little birdie recently (last week) told me there's a new name in the works (forgot what, but I'll try to find out). We'll see... (I'm still holding out for "The Third Place).
  2. Yes, but there's also a bar in Tryst and The Diner, so that won't be much a differentiating factor. Rumor has it there will be pizza ovens. I heard long ago that it might be a sort of Tryst/Diner hybrid, but I'm not sure to what extent that idea has evolved. I know the staff is excited and eager to see it open. As am I!
  3. Yes- this is coming by way of the Tryst/Diner people. Will hopefully open this summer. Want to get permission before I blab more. Oh- and to my knowledge, it won't be called "Tryst". (and won't exactly be another Tryst)
  4. Oops- thought that linked to the menu... Here's their description: Monte Cristo with turkey, ham, swiss, & cheddar on thick cut toast, dipped in egg batter and fried golden brown
  5. Sounds like The Diner might. http://www.trystdc.com:81/ I can have Dinerboy confirm.
  6. And on 18th St. in Adams Morgan (at the bottom of my new street- Belmont Rd!) I'll admit, I'm a sucker for their Better Batter...
  7. I third Bistro Francais- cautiously, though, if you've been imbibing TOO heavily, as my dining companion last time I was there nearly passed out in his duck. If you're looking to stay in the Adams Morgan area, I believe Amsterdam Falafel is open past the bar closings (and offers a much healtier alternative to Pizza Mart).
  8. Anyone know anything about the pho place in Herndon by the Staples off of Sunrise Valley Drive and Centerville Rd? Worth a trip? (I work in Reston and eye this one a lot).
  9. I second this, though I'd like to add mktye's breadly delights, which I've been craving since reports of eG's picnic last year. So glad we've chosen the 22nd, as the 15th is my wedding shower (so a little bird tells me... or is it the 22nd? I've already been getting the wedding date wrong, so there's no telling) As we're in mid-move, it's hard to envision anything edible emerging from the fallout that is our kitchen, but I suppose with a month to go until the picnic I have no excuse. We'll bring wine and possibly something sweet (brownies?). I'll try to get Dinerboy to join me after he gets off work. Looking forward to the very first DR.com picnic! -Martha
