  1. Thanks for coming out today! I'll let you know when some of the other experimental beers are ready.
  2. I'm hoping to be one of the breweries up there, but my inventory is a little limited, I'm smaller than all of those breweries. Also, I don't think I'd be able to bring kegs and I might not be able to bring a full 2 kegs worth. Like I said, I'm small, a 3 barrel brewery. For those of you who don't know, 1 barrel = 2 kegs. I'm still hoping to be a part of this.
  3. I shot them an e-mail to see about dropping of some samples. Royal Mile already has my beer.
  4. I'm curious to try Limerick out. My local pub is the Royal Mile. My old neighborhood (Cleveland Park) had two Irish pubs so I have an idea of what to expect. They are slated to open Feb 4. I may try to go. All they need on Elkin Street now is a British pub. Any takers?
  5. That whole stretch seems a little sterile. If it were to wake up a little like Cleveland park... I agree Potbelly should have a pub in its place.
  6. Van Ness seems to be plagued. I remember going to Shanghai Garden as a kid. Last time I was there was about 30 years ago. I remember the pupu platter and though that was such an amusing name. The rest of Van Ness hasn't done much better, restaurants seem to open and close fairly frequently. I guess the old guard is leaving, Yengching Palace went under a while ago. Which one is next? There are better places these days, I can't say that I will miss Shanghai Garden.
  7. Just a heads up, the brewery is not heated. If you get cold easily, bring a coat. I would encourage you to bring exact change, though I can take credit cards. It goes through a payment gateway online so it isn't like swiping a card. Here is some pricing: Pint Glasses $6.00 Bombers (22 oz bottles) $6.00 6 pack of Pale Ale (6 12 oz bottles) $10.00
  8. I think I will have to invest in those glasses with the big nose and mustache Perhaps get custom ones done
  9. You can buy beer. According to Maryland law I am allowed to sell a limited amount of beer to visitors. Now here's where the law starts looking a little silly, each visitor is limited to 144 oz per person per year.
  10. I can handle 13 and yes you can bring the wee one. Just no filling the bottle with beer
  11. I could do another tour no problem. Sometimes they overlap anyway. I don't have seating for everyone that's why I originally said 10. I don't actually have an occupancy limit on my occupancy permit. I can have more people but just a heads up, most people will be standing.
  12. I'm looking forward to going here. Chef Frederik's catering company 42° Catering is next door to my brewery.
  13. I was in Bruge one summer. We ordered lunch and the waiter came back and said, "Sorry, you can have water, the chef is taking a nap"
  14. The one and only time I ever went to Hooters, the buxom waitress kept coming back and asking if my burger was still tasting good
  15. Another thought came to mind. Just buy some Climax, it comes in 1/2 gallon growlers. Recycle
  16. I'm looking to expand distribution in Maryland. Currently I just distribute to MoCo, but I really want to get into the rest of MD. I've thought of getting a MD distribution license, but its costly. I'm tiny. Right now we distribute to 9 different stores and restaurants in Montgomery County, not bad for self distribution (or as close to self distribution as you can get in MoCo) I'm currently outselling my current distributor.
  17. When we get pissed off at someone at the brewery, we just draw a picture of a person, put it up on the dart board and well, you get the picture. It's a great way to blow off steam with out the picture looking too much like anyone. We make a game of it, drink some beer. Perhaps Gillian needs to invest in a decent dartboard, you can get one a Target for about $40. We play Cricket on the dart board as well, it's not always about Voodoo darts.
  18. Apparently in Montgomery County you can't make your own sausages in house, or haggis! Royal Mile has haggis on their menu, I was disappointed when it didn't come in a sheep's stomach. But that's the county for you.
  19. I really like the "Bertha's Best Bitter" at Bertha's in Baltimore. It's brewed by Olivers. Climax has a good ESB, they are only sold in half gallon growlers.
  20. I can get them through my supplier, I don't use them at all at the brewery. They are a bit on the expensive side ranging from $18 - $20 depending on what kind of handle it has. You could also try contacting Crosby and Baker
  21. Anyone see this? http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local-beat/F-is-for-Filthy-114184099.html I originally heard both DC and Virginia got "D's" for restaurant cleanliness. Maryland on the other hand got an "A"
  22. I'm glad I'm out of the restaurant industry. My last employer actually told me I was too nice of a person to be working in a kitchen. Wow, being told I don't have the "asshole" gene was kind of funny but true. Brewers are much nicer people.
