  1. Thank you, Marty L. I will share your kind words with my parents. Consistency is something we all take very seriously.
  2. Sadly, we stopped serving breakfast at both locations on Jan. 1st. It was extremely difficult for us to find staff to prepare these time-consuming items. I miss you tiao too 😭 I asked my parents about other places for you to get you tiao and they only knew of Chinese grocery stores. They think one of the stalls at Great Wall sells you tiao.
  3. Don- Thanks for visiting us. Hope to see you again before ten years pass! P.S. Our cucumbers are not jarred
  4. Returned to Corduroy last night for the first time in many years and it felt like a big welcome home hug. I have loved Corduroy since its Four Points days and I will always associate it with the Don Rockwell community. The care and attention that Chef Power puts into his food is always reflected in the warmth of the amazing front of house. We were celebrating my birthday last night and I brought my kids there for the first time so it felt extra special. We revisited old favorites like the seared tuna, and soft shell crabs, but were also introduced to exciting new dishes like the tonakatsu, and the incredible chilled avgolemono soup (I can't go to Corduroy and not order soup). The outdoor space is lovely and the mural Chef's wife painted sets such a joyful mood back there. Even with all the amazing new restaurants in DC, I knew I wanted to support Corduroy on my birthday. We loved every minute of our experience there.
  5. Hiring is so tough right now! We barely have enough staff but we’re hoping to open dine-in next week.
  6. Thanks! We were excited to be in the Post. I will ask my parents about packing the sauce and wontons separately for takeout. Hopefully that will work better.
  7. In addition to the pan fried beef bun, pork pot stickers, and scallion pancakes, other customer favorites include the spicy beef noodle soup with wide handmade noodles, dan dan noodles, the Chinese style fried chicken on rice or with noodle soup, and the bean curd skin w/mustard greens and soy beans. Enjoy!
  8. I am forbidden from revealing the ancient family recipe for our spicy cucumbers but can tell you that garlic, sesame oil, sugar, salt and A&J’s homemade hot sauce figure prominently.
  9. We had prices on the website at first but our Irvine, CA location asked us to take the prices down because customers in California were complaining that their prices were higher. Ridiculous, I know!
  10. Both Annandale and Rockville are on Uber Eats now! We also have a new website. https://www.aandjrestaurant.com Big thanks to DanielK for his feedback on the website and to deangold for his help regarding 3rd party delivery services. We feel so lucky to be a part of the Don Rockwell family!
  11. After a false start with DoorDash, A&J Annandale is finally on UberEats! We just started today. Rockville UberEats is coming soon. Thanks for everybody's patience and support. So grateful for Don Rockwell and the caring community he has created.
  12. We are signed up with UberEats but they are taking so long to load our menus so we can’t start yet. It’s very frustrating. Sorry for the delay. Rockville has delivery through Chowbus. Annandale has delivery through Hungry Panda.
  13. Happy Anniversary! We are honored to be your special occasion restaurant. Thank you so much for your support. We are getting ready to sign on with UberEats so you can also have A&J delivered soon. We had too many issues with DoorDash.
  14. We are in the middle of signing on with DoorDash. I will update here once we're set up. If any restaurant folks on the board have advice on which 3rd party services to use please message me. There are so many--it's a bit overwhelming.
  15. A&J Rockville and Annandale are both reopening tomorrow! We offer no contact pick-up/take-out and we accept Venmo for no touch payment. We are so grateful for all the support from the Don Rockwell community during this time. Stay healthy and safe everyone!
  16. Thanks for supporting A&J, Eric! Business is down for us and all other Chinese restaurants because of coronavirus. Glad you and the kids had a good time. Appreciate your patronage. Don- Could you please change the title because we take Venmo now too! Thanks.
  17. I saw it at Costco in Gaithersburg this afternoon. If I had read this earlier would’ve tried it!
  18. The poke at the Gaithersburg Costco is the most similar I've found in this area to Hawaiian poke. They actually list kukui nut as an ingredient!
  19. I hope I'm not too late! In addition to the dishes already mentioned above I would add thousand layer pancake and cucumber salad, both customer favorites. The cigar-shaped fried dumplings are listed as pan-fried pork potstickers on the menu. The pan-fried beef bun flies under the radar but is also delicious. I've heard it described as an "exploding Chinese hamburger" because it's juicy and filled with soup. The spicy beef & tendon noodle soup (szechuan style) and for adventurous eaters- the sliced pig ears and vegetarian delight with rice. Happy eating!
  20. Unfortunately, no and no for Annandale as well. Hope you will still come check us out! Please report back
  21. They are not used interchangeably in Chinese cooking. For example, a classic dumpling filling is pork with Chinese chives. You would use the flat kind, not the one with the bulb. Most Chinese grocery stores sell both.
