  1. Could not have said it better myself, Kanishka (Well - Liz IS hot, just not my type)
  2. I was talking with Simon last night. He hopes to pick up some shifts at Trusty's. He also mentioned that the side bar didn't get too badly mangled - mainly smoke damage, so it will hopefully be opened in a few weeks while the main bar will be back in a few months. Brian still bartends at the irish Channel. Not sure about Tony T, though.
  3. Took my MIL to OE after a lovely dinner at Cashion's Friday night and before dessert at Ceiba. She deemed the Ebbitt as her favorite spot of the night because 1) the oysters ARE good and 2) the atmosphere is laid back and 3) the clientele is varied. It's a classic for a reason, I suppose.
  4. Tallula is the only place I vividly remember seeing them. My husband LOVES the ones we have at home. I still prefer stemmed glasses, as I have difficulty holding stemless ones. I'm just a dainty lil girl, ya know.
  5. The Portugese sardines on Saturday were incredible. Crisp and pleasently salty. Everything else (Tuna Cruda, Yellowtail Tartare, Beef Carpaccio, Lamb, Duck and Pork) was very good - but not very exciting. Everything was solidly executed - but a bit boring (with, again, the exception of my sardines - but I REALLY dig salty). The service was slow (long waits before the server acknowledged us, long wait between apps and main course) but friendly if not a bit too casual. On my last visit, I felt pretty much the same way. Enjoyable - but meh. If I had not had my MIL, SIL and her husband in tow (all who eat a primarily organic diet), we would have most likely chosen another restaurant. Overall - an enjoyable evening - not disappointing - but not memorable.
  6. I, too, am quickly becoming addicted to the fried shrimp and calamari at Hank's. The breading is perfection. It's crisp and light with just a TOUCH of seasoning. Even the cocktail sauce seems better for it. Being a dessert lover, I was, at first, dissapointed. I would rather have a few pieces of lovely chocolate to nibble on than order a dessert that's subpar. Nothing worse than ending a delightful meal with a crummy dessert.
  7. Hmm - I was there yesterday afternoon, as well. We ordered two dozen large crabs, 3 ears of corn and one cole slaw (MIL doesn't like corn???) The corn was local and tasty. The crabs were fantastic with ample Old Bay. The weather - sweltering. I did notice a large table that decided against eating crabs. I wonder - why go to Cantler's if you're not eating crabs? The other food - from what I've always understood - is mediocre at best.
