  1. For what it's worth, I just received solid confirmation that the group I spoke of above was, in fact, full of B.S. They may have talked to the current owners, but what would be the point of that when those folks are still outstanding on so many debts? DonRocks, feel free to weigh in - I have no doubt you've heard more on this...
  2. FYI, a few new cocktails on the menu... Tried the Grandpa's Candy tonight: Laird's Applejack, Cocchi Americano, Root liquer, mezcal, orange bitters. Outstandingly balanced, great notes of smoke and caramel on the finish. The Root liquer is really interesting - a booze based on sassafras root, so a lot of the same flavors, aromas, etc. Nice bitter alcohol front with a root beer sweetness that lingers. Every time I feel like I'm getting good at crafting cocktails, Brendan puts me to shame with a new concoction. I still maintain that this is one of the best places on H St. to snag a handcrafted cocktail.
  3. My most frequent go-to here is usually a meat and cheese plate, but I can personally attest to the charcuterie sandwich being dynamite. Absolutely stuffed with the same cured meats and outstanding cheese. Easily enough for two meals...yet another steal from the top spot on H.
  4. Good riddance. The new owner/operator of this space stopped in about a week ago with his interior decorator (who is a semi-regular at Le Grenier) to have some cocktails. Seemed like a nice enough guy, young-ish...I didn't ask about his background or restaurant experience. From what he said, it's going to be a Mediterranean tapas theme downstairs with a more upscale lounge focused on drinks upstairs. Either way, I'm excited to see someone actually use that perfect location and beautiful space. Could be perfect timing on his part with the streetcar nearing completion...
  5. Had a nice bowl of ramen at Taan noodles in AdamsMo on Saturday and noticed that they had okonomiyaki on their menu. Didn't get to try it, but someone should sneak in and report back...
  6. Hey guys! Logan here again. DonRocks and I were chatting and he encouraged me to mention our current specials. As this Sunday is Bastille Day (vive la France!), the plan right now is to have free baguettes all day, an all-day happy hour (half off) on a limited cocktail menu, and free Kronenbourg from 5-7! As to our regular specials and deals, Tuesdays from 5-7 p.m. we have half off all wines by the glass and all cheese and charcuterie, and Wednesday through Sunday from 5-7 p.m. is our happy hour, during which all cocktails, wines by the glass, and beers are half off. Wednesday nights we also offer half off all our wines by the bottle. Finally, this week we shifted to our new Summer menu, so we have all-new appetizers, entrees, galettes, and crepes, as well as a few new cheeses. Stop by and say hi! Cheers!
  7. Hey guys! My name's Logan, and I'm the bartender at Le Grenier...wanted to let you all know that we just updated our cocktail list today for the new season. This Friday, everyone's welcome to come in for one free cocktail of your choice. Stop by and check us out, and enjoy a delicious, hand-crafted cocktail for free! Cheers!
  8. Hello, all! Recently moved here from San Francisco, and am excited to get out and about trying some of the great dining options the city has to offer! Seems like an awesome website - thanks for letting me join in. Cheers! Logan
