  1. Does this price include tip, emolument, what have you?
  2. I hope it seats more than 14... And remember that's at least one teetotalling vegetarian. Man, think of the profit margin I'm giving them...
  3. I know the last time I hit up a DQ you could choose between a Chocolate, a Red (Cherry?), and a Yellow/Butterscotch dip. Ahh...yellow partially hydrogenated coconut oil...the miracle of Magic Shell.
  4. Well, I wanted to say I had fun and good food, even though I was late showing up. Turns out there are *two* Hollywood East Cafes in Wheaton...I chose poorly. I'm definitely up for another gathering there any time!
  5. Ooooh. Temptation, thy name is DR.com... I'm beginning to salivate.
  6. A newbie question: about how much cold hard cash should I bring? I'm just wondering if I should hit up the ATM before trekking up to Wheaton? Oh, and is there a name or something I should give the host/ess to identify I'm part of the DR crowd?
  7. Thanks! Ooh, and please do pass on the veggie menu when you can. More likely than not, that will be I.Huh, veg menu and no wines. I'm the life of the party!
  8. Well, this teetotaler is eagerly awaiting the dry price. But, the postdoc in me has another question: what is the dress code of Vidalia? I ask because, well, I don't own a suit/jacket (and I'm proud of it). I usually wear polos, khakis, etc., but I didn't know if that is too casual for a place as eminent as this.
  9. I'd be willing, depending on the day and time. Sounds yummy no matter what...
  10. Just a question, but is this Sunday still on?
  11. As I anticipate this, it's scary to think there will probably be *more* meat than was present at Gamasot. Be afraid, O heart!
  12. Oh, whoops, wrong day in my post. Yeah, I think I'm available that day...mmm...dim sum.
  13. I'd be open for August 2. Sadly, I will be in fabulous Evanston, IL next weekend.
  14. Yeah, I know my local SuperEE/Grande/Whatever Korean-Mexican mart has lots of banana leaves in their frozen aisle. Probably cheaper than Giant as well.
  15. I'm always up for Indian. Whether my schedule is is another matter.
  16. Folks, I was wondering I could get some DR help with this. My parents are in town and I'm trying to figure out places to take them for meals. Since I live near Annandale, I obviously thought of Korean. But, the problem is that one really likes good BBQ like bulgogi, etc. and the other is a vegetarian (no fish, stock, etc.). Thus my usual standby of Gamasot is out since its menu has exactly *zero* dishes without meat (not even ye olde veggie bibimbap). So, I was wondering if the community here knew of any good Korean restaurants that are relatively vegetarian-friendly? I've thought of that Lighthouse Tofu restaurant, but I don't really think of its barbeque meats when I think of it (but maybe it's good?). Other places I've considered are ones whose banchan include like 2 or 3 cured fish/meaty dishes or the like which wouldn't interest either one probably. Any suggestions?
  17. I just discovered this thread and realized dim sum sounds good. But, a couple of questions from someone who's never been to this restaurant. First, and sorry about being crass, but what would be the budget I'd need to do this? (I am a postdoc, so not rich.) Second, I don't eat shellfish or molluscs, so sometimes Cantonese dim sum can be a bit...lacking for me. Do you think I'd have a problem? Sorry if I'm too late with these questions. Even if I can't make this round, at least I'll be notified for the next go-around.
  18. Saturday lunch at Gamasot with some sulleungtang and associated banchan. It was as good as ever and the kimchi was a bit spicier than usual. Mmm...
  19. Oooh la la, fan-say. It turns out the cheese I like best is...Velveeta. Now, I know just mentioning that will probably get me a 5-day ban, but my mom used to make this really creamy smooth mac'n'cheese that used Velveeta. No crunchies, no baking, just melted Velveeta and some milk if it got too thick.Gourmet? No. Reminds me of my childhood? Yes.
  20. Maybe I'll lose some gourmet points for this, but I like the mac and cheese at the Florida Ave Grill. Now, I'm sure Vidalia has the best, but I'm a postdoc. I can't really do Vidalia. Also, a friend says the mac and cheese at Oohs and Aahs is good. But the last time he was there was a year ago, so...who knows if it's still open, let alone good.
