  1. One question: RPLC? That means something in chemistry...but not the same here I bet... And second, sounds good to me!
  2. As always, my usual query: does RJ know the teetotaler price? I'm guessing $120 based on last time...
  3. Just to remind myself, 11:30 tomorrow at Hollywood East Cafe On The Boulevard, right? Mmm...dim sum!
  4. It's fairly obvious from my experience last time. A big table of mainly Caucasians is easy to spot. This page has a picture of deangold (down to the end, then up one). And, heck, I'll put myself over to the left there (bye doggy avatar).
  5. Man, I'm getting hungry for dim sum. I really want to try the "big carrot" dessert I heard about last time.
  6. Hartford Election Cake! I am actually planning to make one soon...just to try it out.
  7. I wonder if this is related to the Pho Hong Anh in Springfield? Hmm...
  8. While I'm fairly certain this is out of my budget, I suppose I'll ask: is there a teetotaler price for this event?
  9. I was there recently as well. I think the sign outside on the building said "Happy Go Supermarket".
  10. I also recommend leaving very early if you do Metro, as Metro + Sunday equals "teh late". Also, go to the *correct* Hollywood East, as I learned last time. Sorry again that I was late!
  11. Hollywood East on the Boulevard, if Walrus is correct. And if so, I shall be there as well! Sept 28 is a free day for me so far! Oh, and 11:30 am.
  12. Huh. Maybe I've had good luck with the white meat and bad luck with the dark. Usually I do all dark, but, as I said, lots of gristle.Of course, I do banh mi bo kho over pho about 4:1 at Pho Hot. You just don't find it many places. (Although I do wish the beef in the bo kho was a bit smaller. It's often beyond my chopstick skills...and there are no knives to be found...)
  13. There is also my old standby, Pho Ga. What can I say...I like chicken soup! (Also, I recommend a mix of light and dark meat. All dark gets you a lot of gristle, and all light not a lot of flavor. Both is just right.)
  14. No, no. You got that wrong. You get the Banh Mi Bo Kho. No noodles or anything to distract from the stew. Just some nice bread to dip...mmm...Also, $20 Tuesday sounds great to me...although I'm not sure how to spend $20 at Pho Hot?!
  15. Well, other than this Sunday they are all open...*now*. For some reason, my Sundays are being filled at short notice. Which is odd for me. But, as I said, I think I could make Sundays from the 21st on.
  16. I might be able to make that date. That is, if my rather hectic September schedule doesn't blow up more than it has...
  17. Query for Dean: Back at the Dim Sum Sunday, you mentioned you might do a tomato menu or some such to celebrate the good tomatoes. Have I missed that (he said hoping not)? Or have the whims of produce changed your thoughts on that?
  18. Query about payment for this dinner. Are we doing cash like the Vidalia dinner last night? Or is the new Paypal system coming for this? I didn't know what Evening Star wished to do.
  19. Aye, this was probably the best meal of my life. So, all the kudos to RJ for the cookin' and Walrus and Tripewriter for the organizing.
  20. Patient...nooooo! Now now now now! Oh, and a couple of other food-unrelated questions for the topic. First, does Vidalia do valet parking? I'm still hoping I can do Metro, but circumstances might force me to drive. If so, how much, so I can grab some extra moolah. Second, how shall we identify ourselves at the door so we are directed to the correct location?
  21. I was driving by Manila Cafe recently and was wondering if anyone has been there recently. The Saturday/Sunday buffet is sort of calling out to me, if it's still good, as an introduction to Filipino cuisine.
  22. Just a quick question, but has the vegetarian menu been finalized yet? Or will it be based on, essentially, that day's produce?
