  1. Eeek! Shellfish! Too much shellfish! (Heh. I am not made for this region sometimes.)Of course, that means more of the other dishes for meeee... ETA: Man, not only do the veggie hot pots look good to me, #74 does as well. Congee and this weather just seem to fit.
  2. As MM said, no. In fact, Seven Corners is barely car-accessible. I'm fairly certain I once went through that intersection and ended up in Maryland.Maybe you need a couple of drinks to navigate it...
  3. I'd vote for adding on #155 if possible!
  4. Actually it's now a Freshmart or something. They changed the main name for some reason. But, yeah, I do like them for meats. The fact it caters to both Koreans and Hispanics means you get some cool and different cuts.
  5. I'll be a tentative 2 (two) for this. Sounds quite intriguing. But, really, one duck for 10 Rockwellians? We should probably order two. Even then it'd be only 8 bucks a person for the duck. Huh, lotta two's up there.
  6. I do believe it is time for the annual dduk gook free bowl-o-soup tomorrow at Gamasot and I think the festivities start at 11 am. I tried to go last year, but the sheer volume of people was daunting. I'll still try again, though!
  7. I think I'll be able to make the Twenty Dollar Thursday at Hong Kong Palace as well. It's like a mini-tour of Asia these months.
  8. Well, as single guy who can't remember faces very well, is there a name I should use when I get there to be directed to the right table?
  9. I'm actually looking forward to jajangmyeon-ish dishes. I've only ever had the jajang-in-a-pouch that friends have made. Now as a seafood non-fan, sea cucumber sounds...hmm...
  10. The only two I know of are the usual suspects: jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk. Beyond that, I'm a novice to Korean-Chinese.
  11. Hmm...I have always been intrigued by Korean-Chinese. I think I might throw my name in for this one. This one I know I want to go to!
  12. I do not know... Their real, Chinese menu is so good, I've never thought about even trying their dim sum. I mean, they have casseroles! And braised duck! Mmm...
  13. I believe the vegetarian delight is actually kao fu, or seitan. It is good, though. I tend to order it and the smoked chicken when I'm there.
  14. From this post on Thanksgiving, I saw this: Part of me really wants to do this for the opportunity to try out Citronelle. Even the $80 price tag seems nice for a place like this. Has anyone been to a similar event there? Worth it?
  15. I forgot to post that I went to Canton Cafe recently. While there I had what might just be the best dish I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. It was c21 on the Recommended, I think, Marinated Pork and (adjective) Vegetables in Casserole. So, so, so, so good. The pork was fatty belly that was cooked to perfection aka melt-in-your-mouth. Heck, one piece was just fat...I liked that. I have been having dreams of this dish... Of course, I'm of the feeling that anything in Casserole is what you order if at a Chinese restaurant. (BTW, the other great dish? A braised grass carp I had back in Colorado. Does anyone one know if you can get good grass carp here in DC/MD/VA?)
  16. Hey, Walrus, guess what I might ask? Yep, the teetotaler question... (ETA: Even if there isn't a teetotaler price, I might do this... The price is pretty good!)
  17. Okay, I'm confused and need help. I can't seem to figure out how to see what's on these special menus. I randomly clicked a couple "Dinner" links...but no special menu.
  18. Query for Andelman from a friend of mine: In the Single Malt Scotch chocolates, what was the single malt scotch in question?
  19. vinod, Just a quick question. Does Indique Heights have parking available (and if so, how much)? With the Marathon tomorrow, for once I'm thinking *driving* might be the preferable method to your restaurant from where I am.
  20. I want to thank Jason for all the yummy confections. Of them all, my favorites were the Cinnamon Marshmallows, the Fleur de Sel Caramels, the Peanut Butter Bars, and the Lemon-Hazelnuts. In fact, I bought the first three! If you want to see some (iPhone-"quality") photos, I have some here.
  21. Free chocolate? Free Artisan Confections chocolate? I'm in!
  22. Well, the kadu is made, if a bit waterier than usual. I guess the butternut squashes today weren't as dry? fresh? who knows, as the last time I made it. But, maybe a good ride in the fridge will allow the squash to soak up some of the sauce. And if now, well, extra sweet tomato sauce!
  23. Sure, although it's not mine. I use the one recipe that seems to be out there on the internet: link!. There are some things I've learned: the operative word is not "evaporated" but "absorbed". The amount of oil is a bit too much for me. And the sugar amount is really dependent on the squash and tomato sauce...which I read as "puree" not the USDA/tomato industry standard "tomato sauce" (which has """spices"""). Frankly, I wing the recipe now, and can usually get it how I like it.I hope I can bring some to the picnic!
  24. Hmm...my Sunday might be freed up for this. If I do come, I might bring along some kadu bouranee (Afghan stewed pumpkin...but probably butternut squash, due to scarcity of good pie pumpkins so far) which I've recently learned how to make somewhat consistently. How much would be a good amount to bring if I did? Is there a way to warm it up beyond lukewarm? And would it be okay to bring along some pitas as well, for dipping? Sorry for all the questions, but I've never been to a DR picnic before.
  25. I'm going to have to pull out, I'm afraid. Life, work, Lady Fate have all conspired to make my holiday much less fun. Have some smoked chicken for me, will you? And again, sorry!
