  1. I made this lemonade Friday night into yesterday: https://www.bonappetit.com/story/lemoniest-lemonade-recipe Delicious! I thought it would be too tart for the 6-year-old, but she liked it so was unexpected competition with my husband and me. The adults added vodka to ours.
  2. I baked banana nut (pecan) muffins with the 6-year-old. Eating them warm now ... yum.
  3. Very sad. I'm rarely ever anywhere near Sterling, but I made a point to eat here once when I was in the area and quite enjoyed myself.
  4. I've lost almost 20 pounds since starting Weight Watchers in November. With full-time telework I've been running 3-5 miles every other day and I'm actually to the point where I enjoy it and the prospect of missing a run saddens me (at least in this weather; ask me again in July). I'm 46, though, and not exactly lithe even with my 20-pound weight loss, so I wonder how much longer running will be viable for me.
  5. My husband smoked chicken and shrimp and made salsa and we had tacos with salsa and sour cream on flour tortillas.
  6. We've also been doing homemade pizza but on Saturdays. 🙂 It's been great, but I feel like comparing it to Ledo's is like comparing apples and oranges. I love Ledo's crackery crust, which we haven't been able to approximate. Nonetheless, I'm thankful for a pizza source.
  7. My husband steamed mussels in a white wine, butter, shallot, and basil sauce for dinner last night. The mussels needed more cleaning (some were a bit gritty), but overall they were quite delicious. It was our first time making mussels at home. He bought the mussels at H Mart in Wheaton. He also made French fries and French bread, all from scratch. I washed everything down with some Kirkland sauvignon blanc because I'm classy like that.
  8. We haven't ordered any carry-out or delivery during this whole strange period. My husband is too freaked out. I tried to convince him early on that it would be OK, but he didn't budge. Anyway, the one food I'd really love to have is a Ledo's pizza. I miss those. 😋 Also, @lion, my friend didn't give many details, but she was happy with her ProFish order. She ordered crabmeat, halibut (which was filleted but the skin was on), and smoked salmon (which she froze).

    I second this!!
  10. We bought the KitchenAid stand mixer that's marked down at Costco this month (until tomorrow!) and my husband has been experimenting with various mixer delights. This morning was cinnamon buns!
  11. The same friend who's picking up from ProFish tomorrow just sent me this as well, FYI: "A Fresh Haul from Two Trusted Brands" - Hank's Oyster Bar and War Shore Oyster Company Team Up To Deliver in the DMV
  12. My friend is picking up tomorrow and says she’ll report back! --- Hank's Oyster Bar and War Shore Oyster Company Team Up To Deliver in the DMV
  13. I went through two bottles of rosé this weekend. 😬
  14. Not exactly D.O.C., but we grilled pizza tonight, which was a fun activity with our 6-year-old and a tasty dinner!
  15. @Bob Wells, I hope this doesn't freak you out, but I've noticed you commenting in the Grew Up in Rhode Island group on Facebook. Since you use the same name here and on Facebook and I knew about your RI connection I knew it was you. 😁
  16. On Saturday my husband baked some bread and made a chicken salad from some breasts he'd smoked over hickory a few days earlier. He included some Craisins and diced apple in the chicken salad. He went a little heavy on the Dijon (mixed with mayo), but on the bread it tasted less strong. Quite delicious and more elaborate than we usually eat for lunch!
  17. Yesterday I drank an entire bottle of Kirkland Sauvignon Blanc. I had a couple of glasses with lunch, then, when I ended up at an impromptu outdoor socially distanced happy hour with some neighbors, I drank the rest of the bottle. I actually quite enjoy this $7.99 (if I remember correctly) wine!
  18. Yesterday was my daughter's 6th birthday. No friend party this year, so we tried to make her day special even though she was only hanging out with boring ol' Mommy and Daddy (actually, at 6 she still pretty much likes us). We asked what she wanted for her birthday dinner and she said "cheeseburgers!" So my husband smoked some burgers over hickory. I'd been at Giant on Monday and they were completely out of ground beef, but they had ground steak, so we used that. We ate the burgers on potato rolls with melted cheese, pickles, and mustard (ketchup and no pickles for my daughter). I had also bought a bag of frozen French fries at Giant, but I left them in the trunk of the car accidentally, so those went in the trash and my husband cut his own fries and deep fried those (or maybe shallow fried them -- he used a couple inches of oil in our Dutch oven). My husband's grill/smoker is getting quite a workout during all this time at home. He's currently smoking more chicken for tacos and a huge batch of chicken wings.
  19. I weigh myself once a week (on Friday mornings).
  20. It's definitely not all about numbers! And I agree it's very hard not to eat, eat, eat during this time, especially comfort foods. My husband lost like 20 pounds recently and he gained it all back. He's been going nuts on comfort foods. Everything feels out of control now -- especially trying to telework with a 6-year-old in the house 🤪-- but being able to (mostly) stick to my diet and my exercise regime definitely helps me.
  21. I lost all the baby weight! Her sixth birthday is tomorrow. 🤷‍♀️ (Down 14 pounds since November and very grateful I can still exercise outside.)
