  1. Grill-ie although I think gree-lay is even better. And by the way, has anyone ever said they're going to: Ristorante Tosca Sergio Ristorante Italiano Panevino Ristorante Il Porto Ristorante Filomena Ristorante AV Ristorante Italiano Ristorante Piccolo Donatello Ristorante Ristorante Sorriso Luigino Ristorante Ristorante La Perla Paolo's Ristorante?
  2. They can offer one "luxury cigar" for a million dollars and sell it to the owner's daughter.
  3. I always, always pronounce the "e" to ridicule the pretense.
  4. I just got an email from a friend of mine - anyone have any suggestions? (He said I could cut-and-paste it here) Cheers, Rocks If you know of anything, please let me know. Thanks! (maybe he can simply follow you around for a month!)
  5. And both won a national James Beard award this year - what a coincidence! Are his wines berry-toned?
  6. She's going to chill for a week or two, and then figure out where she wants to be. Restaurateurs take note: Caterina Abbruzzetti built 2941's wine program into one of the strongest in town, and was assistant sommelier under Mark Slater for a couple of years before that. There's a serious shortage of knowledgeable sommeliers in town, but one just came on the market.
  7. None of the above. Simply visit Iverson Mall's website, turning up your volume and watching the introduction. Lucky Strike is that introduction in real life. And then once past the introduction, check out the food. Cheers, Rocks
  8. Observation: this is the second straight year Meaghan and bilrus have latched onto a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, last year at Eve, this year at Marigold.
  9. Go take a walk through Lucky Strike, preferably on a rainy weeknight around 8 PM. They're not crowded and it's about the damndest thing I've ever seen. Don't bother spending much time; just go and watch people bowl for about ten minutes, shaking your head in disbelief at the changes that have overcome this area. This is going to be a total zoo, and the time to observe this curiosity is in the next couple of weeks, before the holidays - they have radar measuring the speed of your bowling ball, along with a cornucopia of hallucinogenic visual effects. X-treme development, unquestionably the downfall of mankind, and at once fascinating and tragic. I'll sixty-nine with a pterodactyl before eating here, so someone else can be the test rat. Cheers, Rocks
  10. [We can always start a Venice thread in Intrepid Traveler, so no worries]
  11. I didn't realize J Lo had a brother named Anu.
  12. I think you're squarely in Cava territory here. Gerry Dawes has an article coming out this week in Wine News on Cavas, and recommends several in-and-around your price range. I'm alerting Gerry to this thread in hopes that he's in the country and will have a chance to chime in. Cheers, Rocks
  13. I would consider calling El Chalan if the party gets any bigger than this just so they don't get blindsided.
  14. Well I guess we know what the next 10,000-view thread is going to be.
  15. Hartzer was there? Then you just answered your own question: Michael Hartzer was Executive Chef at Citronelle for two or three years, and pretty much ran their kitchen. If you listed the top twenty chefs in the area, you'd start with Richard, Trabocchi, Ruta, ..., and somewhere before you finished you'd notice that Hartzer was on your list. Reading this thread, I can't help but think this meal was the output of a tormented genius in Michael Landrum. Cheers! Rocks
  16. Remember "The Tongue Thing?" Yep, that incident happened at the Tortilla Factory. Rocks.
  17. Treat the pencil[lin] dick. Resistant to staff, ill, low, cock-kiss. Auntie Bea
  18. Knowing what I know in advance, it's going to be a great column and an interesting read. Cheers, Rocks.
  19. For those of you who don't speak Spanish, this means "Cuba of Ayer." Wasn't this a Tex-Mex place not too long ago?
  20. It was the only in place in town you could get moose for dinner and mousse for dessert, chateaubriand and Chateau Haut-Brion.
  21. Sammy's Villa, White Oak Little Tavern, College Park (after 1 AM (Deathburgers)) Steve's Ice Cream Nino's Pizza, Downtown (does anyone remember where this place was?) Carnegie Deli (when it first opened) Le Lion D'Or
  22. I always thought that was John Dilliinger's subpoenas. I swear I just made that up on-the-spot.
