Yes, and generally in good quantity. (And there are usually several people, all drinking booze.) Tap, as in water faucter? If so, yes, I agree generally, but I just have a hard time thinking of soda water from the bar gun as more than water.

How about not refills, but drinks? I don't much like flat water if I can have fizzy water. I will happily drink seltzer/soda water from a fountain or a bar gun - it doesn't need to be bottled mineral water. I don't want pop, or lemonade, or iced tea, I just want fizzy water. Most places understand that I want fizzy water rather than flat water and will happily provide such in place of water (as long as it's fountain, and not out of bottles). But some places charge. And they don't just charge once - they charge for each refill. (Note, I tend to sit at the bar most of the time, so these requests are made of bartenders rather than waitstaff.) Yes, Domku, I'm looking at you when I say that. It has happened in other places, but lately it's been consistent at Domku. So I don't get it - insight?

They call from their cell phones when they arrive at your house too, IME. (Except the guy from Taqueria DF) And yes, they're surprised when you are at home and are expecting the food to arrive at your door.

She is also currently writing another book, which I think will be a cake book.

I am quite partial to Madjet at the moment. Menu's short though, and all vegetable, lamb and beef - no chicken. (There may be fish, but since I don't eat it, I don't remember.)

Has anyone dined here lately? I am looking for input on food quality, service quality and noise level, particularly at lunch. Thanks!

I live in neighborhood and eat there semi-regularly. The noise level has been a huge point of discussion locally. The first few times I went in, I had to ask for the jukebox to be turned down. Now they turn it down as soon as we sit down.I didn't think we were quite that insistent. But I do appreciate not having my ears blasted.

Happy Tuesday all! I'm Sarah. I've been reading here for a very very long time - several years, I believe. I keep meaning to join the conversation, but never quite getting around to doing so. First it took me forever to register. Since I got registered, I just kept putting off posting for no particular reason. But now, here I am, and maybe posting once will remind to post again. The quick overview: I live and work in DC, and tend to eat in DC, although for great food I will cross the river (rare, but it does happen) or head for MD. (Due to my movie obsession and the fact the Ray's the Classics is so good and so convenient to the Silver, this happens regularly, although not as often as I would like.) 25 years ago, as a college student, I was a waitress and a bartender in various places, mostly now gone. Those days are long past though. Now I'm a customer who truly enjoys good food, good drink, and good service. Any more and I'll get to rambling, even though this doesn't seem like enough. So here I am, I appreciate all the useful information and the enjoyment reading here has provided, and I'm looking forward to being part of the conversation.
