  1. Can you add me to the list for PTI? I'm a maybe (but it is more likely than not that I can make it).
  2. Thanks for the review. Sounds like Big Buns is worth trying (why does this sound so familiar?). As a brand new resident of Clarendon, I am happy to hear that there are so many great options. You're right - those sweet potato fries at Eleventh St. are the best!
  3. I've seen a selection at World Market. It is worth checking out.
  4. I am a big fan of ZPizza. I definitely think you are better off if you get a fresh-made pizza over the slices, but the slices can be good, too. I always enjoy their salads (though if you don't ask for dressing on the side you will likely end up with an overdressed mess of greens). Of course, if I could conveniently get to Luciano I would choose their pizza any day, but Z is good with me and I appreciate the slightly healthier nutrition stats.
  5. I will see you all tonight at 7. The reservation is under "Catharine."
  6. I'm interested but I can't make those dates.
  7. Me, me, me...I wanna go. What a great idea! I prefer the Sunday dates.
  8. Many thanks to Jason for giving this wonderful class. Thanks also to cucas87 for her organizing efforts. I can't say enough good things about what a fun and educational experience this was. I truly enjoyed it from start to finish. And Jason, I wasn't kidding...I plan to be first in line when you start selling those brownies. They're incredible!
  9. Ooh, I didn't think about that. How about the 18th or 19th?
  10. Following Scott's suggestion in the Lighthouse Tofu & BBQ Thread (I can't get the link to work: http://www.donrockwell.com/index.php?showtopic=3990), I am organizing a $20 Tuesday at the Annandale location. Any takers for September 12 at 7pm?
  11. I'm game. In fact, I think it is about time for me to take another turn at organizing. I'll throw out some dates on the $20 Tues. thread.
  12. Yes! Here is the list I have so far: Catharine +1 mdt porcupine cucas87 Scott Johnston Anyone else?
  13. Anyone interested in Saravana Palace on February 22?
  14. I'm in for Woodlands (VA) and Flavors. Yay - dinners in VA!
  15. I would love a dinner in Virginia. I would have a much better shot at making it. Woodlands sounds good. Wasn't there a Lighthouse dinner planned for the Annandale location at some point (or is that wishful thinking..)? Flavors is a great idea, too. Anything after the marathon (10/29) would be fabulous.
  16. VEGETARIAN CHILI 3 T. olive oil 1 medium onion, coarsely chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 pound mushrooms, chopped 2 cups cauliflower pieces 1 large potato, peeled (or scrubbed) and chopped 1 large [red or] green pepper 2 large carrots, peeled (or scrubbed) and chopped 3 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels 1 (28 oz.) can plum tomatoes, including juice 2 (15 oz.) cans pinto, garbanzo or kidney beans including liquid 1 cup tomato juice 1 T ground cumin 2 T chili powder 1 t. paprika 1 1/2 t. salt 1/8 t. cayenne pepper 2 T. tomato paste 3 T. dry red wine 1. Heat olive oil in large stew pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes. Add mushrooms and sauté another 10 minutes. Stir in cauliflower, potato, green [or red] pepper, carrots, corn, tomatoes, beans, tomato juice, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, cayenne, tomato paste and wine. 2. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to simmer. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes. (I usually simmer for at least 90 minutes). Makes 6 servings.
  17. This sounds like an offer to run with me at 5 am the next morning... Add me to the list for Ooohs and Ahs (did someone say Mac and Cheese?) and Etete. Any way that the Etete dinner can be a bit earlier? Just askin'. If these dinners were at 6 I could do them no problem.
