  1. try Luisana Kitchen. French Toast is killer. and also White Flint or Chevy Chase Cheesecake factory
  2. If it were easy sleuth work, e everyone would have cracked it.but to you're getting warmer. Hint 2 of the funds listed have HUGE mcdonalds connections and who sits in the board meetings for them? And of course the voting percentages. (Another hint, its different then ownership) Oh, and if you all think for a minute McDonlads would lease out its supply chain logistics, not a chance. Its one of their main and prized competitive advantages. How about this, let's revisit this thread in 9 months. And we'll see if anythings changed at Chipotle. Wonder what the Happy Meals will be called? any suggestions ?
  3. focus on the word "mCdonalds" that is true, there are no owners of stock under the name McDonalds, now keep going and look up holders of more then 300 shares, note any similarity? mailing address? oak brook ,IL ? keep going magnum, you're getting closer....
  4. gullable, gullable gullable.......... everything done with chipoltle has been done with marketing in mind. Chipotle was getting negative PR , and angry McDonclad franchisees, because they clained micky D's was losing its core focus, with the huge McDonalds stake, so, McDonalds took it public , announcing a "divestiture."OF CLASS A SHARES". in subsequent years McDonalds held 80% of the voting "CLASS B" shares, Still holds 64% of the voting shares under seperate investment vehicles, even after the IPO. today Chipotle looks and acts like an idependant company. One trip to the R&D facility, one trip to Martin Brower (distribution) and one look at their purchasing, or except for steve ellis, executive resumes and each one of them is a hand picked McDoanaldser, oooops is that purchasing happening out of Oak Brook ,IL, yup, wonder why? Hey and why is their deliveries coming off a truck with McDonalds food on it, wait, is that a McDonalds shortening box I see in Chipotle?........... LOOK CLOSELY!
  5. Not exactly correct McDonald took Chipotle public and sold.a relatively small portion of their stake to the public markets. Chipotle's distribution system is all McDonalds, and their executives are hand picked by McDonalds. You'll start to see changes, like less food cooked onsite at each location, more reheat and serve, kids portions, and less relaince on high food cost proteins.. Look closely, it's already started... For the record I happen to love Chipotle. But change is a comin!
  6. EMA, thanks for the note. Today was indeed chaotic. Friday before labor day day #11 open, and we simply were slammed. Im glad you stopped in and thought of us, sorry for the Wellington topping (you were right) it indeed wasn't right. It truly is divine, and was corrected around 4pm today. Next time let us know, in person, when something is wrong, its the instant feedback that allows us to react and respond accordingly. next time say hi TX mark
  7. NUFF SAID............... Los Angeles Times or East Bay Express (click here for a thread discussing this article) or Digital Street Journal I can't even begin to count how many PR firms have pitched me on their own "Yelp" squads to pump clients and bash competitors. Certain restaurant companies employ bloggers in India ( call center down time) to pump their restaurants. ummm think chains with unusually high comments and stars...........
  8. Cuisine Solutions in Alexandria teaches all the michelen chefs worldwide on the art and science of sous vide cooking (they taught Michel R) they have classes available. email gbertholon@cuisinesolutions.com for info
  9. The same guys that own tako, own the small sushi carryout in the shoppes at glen echo (goldsboro at macarthur blvd) its awesome, inexpensive and cool. No seating , just carryout. (Little industry secret, this is where the top caterers get their sushi from)
  10. Sooooooon, very sooooooooon................I'll post a 24 hour update, once we get our final inspections(hopefully this coming week). We'll be having a VIP party, details to follow. Very much looking forward to becoming a part of the Alexandria Community. They have been very welcoming....
  11. Used to be a favorite of mine, years ago when I worked in McLean. I remeber it being a small family run place, i enjoyed it.
  12. So, I gotta ask and folks on this board can validate this, "if the food wasn't right, why didnt you say anything to the staff, they would have gladly replaced it and given you a complete refund?" We bend over backwards to make sure everyone is happy. The Lobster roll is stupendous and plentiful (see washingtonian th is month). If it wasnt prepared right,we would have made it right for you.
  13. I'd love to have yo guys at BGR:The Burger Joint. As you know Fridays are crazy, but if you let me know what time (approx) ill make sure to save you a table outside. I'll even throw in some desserts... Have a good weekend and send me a direct message if youd like me to save yo guys a spot thx Mark
  14. OK, Go to Pat'a or Jims in Philly and order a "cheesesteak hoagie" , make sure you ask for mayo too and let us know "how it goes"
  15. If they ask for LTO and Mayo it's off the list as a qualifier for true philly... Another disqualifier is if the refer to it as "steak and cheese"........ try wawa......for close to philly subs and pretzels fresh amoroso bread delivered twice a day and federal bakers pretzels delivered twice a day.....
  16. cane sugar retro sodas can be found year round at www.retrosoda.com...... BTW this years kosher coke was the first batch not made with cane sugar it wasnt the same formula............
  17. ALB, there you go again . see guys I havent even opened yet.. and you just cut my check average in half, and now I need to double the amount of customers to come by each day, so instead of seating for say 40 at lunch I now need it for 80, so my rent went up as well ....
  18. Jewish Deli's arghhhhhhh. the only way an authentic jewish deli can survive, is by charging 15-20 bucks a sandwich for unbelievably awesome 16oz sandwiches. Wait... yes.. that's it.......................... the ghost of Carnegie Deli in tysons yelling... "Stay away from DC, they dont get it, they wont pay for the huge high quality portions" Lets run down the list Duke's, never did understand the popularity, Too Jays in tenley ( was great, but gone) wolfs, its successor.. Bah Bye, krupins, EEEK, me think not. Celebrity Deli (old location in rockville), yup did it well, once they moved they lost the mojo, now its sold and, far from its glory days. Booeymongers, eghh , doesnt count. Find me a space with rent in the 20's, ample parking and I sware, ill bring down the manager of harolds in NJ (exit 10 on the turnpike LOOK IT UP!) and open one up, you all need to place your credit cards on file itll be expensive, and if I dont hit breakeven on any given month, well spread the loss amongst you all ............ I kid about the losees, but serious about bringing THE MAN to DC. BTW any deli that gets its meats from SAVAL is automatically eliminated from contention. It has to be made in house! Attmans in Balt, a legit place!
  19. Daily Grill DC or Bethesda, havent been in a while, but rememebr it being decent
