  1. They actually did very well. They are moving to the old Giffords spot by landmark theatres an I hear giffords may be looking to take over their spot on fairimont Problem is fairmot ave will soon be home to the county's largest construction project spanning 2 full Bethesda blocks !
  2. Allrigjt. Sorry for the delay. You are right. Any Customer that shows up at any time before closing time must be greater and served!! I've kicked some rear ends over this!! Thanks for the heads up. I encourage everyone to go to spout run and teach Greg my manager a lesson, at 9:56 pm!! Also yea yes yes I am proudly supporting local entrepreneurship and we sell Giffords ice cream at BGR for our shakes of the month and will be expanding to chocolate, vanilla an strawberry on the next few weeks!
  3. Are we all that gullable to really believe the arrest was anything other then a planned PR stunt. I'm now thinking Mr kobayashi needs to attempt eating BGR's 9 lb burger (16lbs after bun etc) in one sitting, only to be done by sonya thomas the black widow and a resident of arlington,va. I'd be up to watching that!..
  4. How about kudos to the team, that took a risk bet it all and put out great product. Even when this news broke 3 months ago, they kept it together and continued the fight. A group this talented will be showered with opportunities. Every experience is a learning experience, and these guys know enough now to write a book. Best of luck, enjoy your brief time off, wherever you guys resurface, its sure to be packed!
  5. BGR is now open in Lyon Village Shopping Cenetr in Arlington. 2 doors down from The infamous Italian Store. We opened on Monday for some trial runs then Tuesday for real. We've added 16 seats to the outside patio that we share with the Italian Store so there's plenty of seating and..................wait for it..................... schollhouse rock playing in the bathrooms! come on out and say hi.
  6. Indeed. The original one off Nicholson, then retired to Florida. He should take the spot back over in cabin john mall, as it stands now closed, "bah bye" is ther new daily special...celebrity deli RIP. He once reined supreme!
  7. Very impressive. I wasn't sure anyone would know who was in the picture! Were almost ready to open. Look for BGR Arlington to be open by mid April.
  8. Stopped in for lunch today, early actuall 11:15 waited in the bar. The team was gracious and bent over backwards to make sure we were cool until 11:30. Both friend and I ordered the patty melt. It was very good. However, as I was discussing this with another foodie, he pointed out , and i agree, the talent in the kitchen far outshines the patty melt.
  9. BGR IS OPEN AND ROCKIN ALL 3 LOCATIONS!!!!!!!!!! As our fantasy friend Gene Simmons says " SHOUT IT, SHOUT IT, SHOUT IT OUT LOUD" ENJOY THE SNOW~!
  10. Thanks for the greqat memory. I totally wiped Blue Diamond off my memory from days at AU, also Campus Delivery and the Right Wing.......
  11. Yes, bring in your turkeys, I'll fry them and no cost.........................
  12. And a Happy Thanksgiving to all Rockwellians! Don forgive this if it's in the wrong place... But continuing on a tradition started last year, I'll open up BGR in Bethesda tomorrow at 11am, to fry turkeys in the fryers. Let me know if your interested. We stop at 1pm..... libations welcome while we watch and wait:)
  13. The guy who used to own cafe express across the street, is opening a beer and wine store and made mention of a potential diner.... Yawn.... for Bethesda. Was a great corner/classic restaurant space, to soon be a lottery ticket, beer and wine selling, flourescent light fixture type store. Too bad.
  14. Dc's also not a "living" downtown. because of the height restrictions on the buildings we'll never get the residential or office density NY, Chicago or even Philly has. with DC rents fast approaching manhattan's the basic economincs get even tougher
  15. OK, Ill chime in. I agree with Mr Slater Central's corned beef is a contender in any deli world. for a bit of a travel go to Attman's in Baltimore 4th generation family owned ( from scratch) deli. Now to address the deli topic. IN MY OPINION unfortunately the majority of "deli's" clients are aging. Go into any deli at dinner and you'll see what I mean. You can't make enough money at lunch only, even downtown to suppport any type of profit given the horrible , notorious low yields of deli food. (if youve evern cleaned a brisket you see my point almost 30% of its weight goes in the trash can before cooking) so with DC rents as high as they are, no one really willing to pay 20.00 for a sandwich, and little dinner business makes it a very tough spot to be in. Im talking of course of a "textbook tradional jewish deli". sure there can be sandwich variations like G st etc, but that concept hasnt proven the test of time, like a solid traditional deli outpost. Go to Parkway in Silver Spring that should put it all in a nutshell. RIP Traditional Jewish Delis outside of NY.
  16. * sauteed mushrooms [this is what I noticed the most] Yup ask for the wellington topping * a good variety of cheeses [some examples: swiss, american, provolone, pepper jack, blue, muenster, sharp & mild cheddar Yup American (yellow and white), swiss, cheddar, pepper jack , blue all avail incl feta * onions: choice of sliced raw or caramelized/sautéed onions both availabale, raw red or white, grilled red or white...
  17. 10am-4pm Downtown Bethesda. When we were setting up this morning, I've never seen so many restaurants at the event before. It's going to be a great weather day, c'mon out and say hi!
