  1. I thought that name looked familiar! We keep our boat at the marina behind his restaurant. I haven't tried it, anyone else have? It seems pretty busy though! Personally I love eating lunch (or drinking it at times) at the wine bar and store across the street, Chesapeake WIne!
  2. I just heard on the news that DC Council is meeting on Tuesday to most likely repeal this law. I agree with Al Dente on this! All the same, I wish we had metro to the suburbs.
  3. I just went on the website and looked up a few of my favorites. What surprises me is how nitpickyor detailed the inspections can be. Who is responsible to make sure all health codes are kept up to par? Things like writing the use by dates on ready to eats. Making sure menus issue warning about raw foods? I have never worked back of house (kitchen) in a restaurant before, so some of this baffles me!
  4. I would be interested to know why no reply has been made to these inquries.
  5. Do we have to reserve for this picnic? I don't know if I am in town or not. But if I do go I will bring a wonderful Tuna Aspic...
  6. I had a conversation in France years ago with someone who lived in an area where they produced Foie Gras. He claimed that the (Ducks, Geese) would actually come running to get fed. If it was as abusive as they claim wouldn't they be going the other direction? I think people should direct their energies to those who really need their help, fellow humans.
  7. Oh, I know that. I am just being a pain also. I would have loved to go to Eve tomorrow, but I read the notice a day too late! So I am just covering my bases here! I hope I haven't triple-spaced here, I hate to put in quotes as I don't want Mr. Rockwell to go bonkers!
  8. Count me in for 2....I know I know we are driving you crazy!
  9. I woke up this morning with a craving for the Organic tomato marmalade sweet tart with ricotta-basil gelato and basil syrup. The sommeiller at Tosca told me she would get me the recipe last year and e-mail it to me. Iam still waiting... Can anyone out there help in acquring this? I know they gave it out at the Arlington Farmers Market last summer, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks all.
  10. Haricots Vert with Gorgonzola, Walnuts and Bacon Heirloom Tomato Salad w/Basil balsamic Vinagrette and Fleur de Sal Delmonico Steak w/Green Pepper Sauce
  11. I have a question for Mr Rockwell. What is this boards policy on deleting posts? (Besides the obvious, libel, slander and those of a personal nature).or is it already on here somewhere? I certainly became p/o'd on a certain board when my factual posts were deleted by the substitute moderator and actually never felt quite the same about that board again.... Edited to say "Never Mind" I found your policy on deleting posts! I have to tell you Mr Rockwell, I haven't personally met you. but I love the way your mind works!
  12. I would make the 35 mile trek to Tallulahs for their ingenious take on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Brioche stuffed with peanut butter, topped with seared foie gras and warm Bing Cherry Jam. It is truly to die for. My two favorites peanut butter and foie gras in one heavenly taste....yum!
  13. We went to Dino's last night. I was told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour but in actuality it was 5 minutes! I think the people on the list ahead of us were scared off by the amount of time quoted so they left. We had all the Crostini's offered, my favorite was the Dino special which was a Point Reyes Bleu cheese spread with a sardine on top. Wh had a Salumi platter (Italian meats) and their large cheese plate. The cheeses were all wonderful but the blue was too pungent for my taste. (The rest of the table loved it.) Primi piatti's were the Lasagnette, Spaghetti with tomato and roasted garlic, Ravioli with cheese and roasted Baby Squash. My daughter had the Panini with Mozerella and Prosciutto. Also tried, was the heirloom tomato salad with onions and capers. All the pastas were delicious, I personally could have done without the panini.... We also had the wine of the day which was a 1998 Brunello for $48. All in all it was an enjoyable experience and would recommend this place.
  14. I am headed to DC right now with La Familia. Pretty well behaved brats. We went to Tallulah's last week, any suggestions?
  15. I for one am thrilled JoeH is so controversial! I was wondering what happened to all of you! This must have been great for membership here! (oneday I will learn to type)
