We used to go pretty regularly to the Chadwick's in Friendship Heights, and just recently went back for the first time in a couple of years. It's remarkable only in it's consistency in providing decent food at a very fair price. I usually get a burger or a sliced pork sandwich. In addition to the burgers, which are decent, J is fond of their ribs and small sirloin steak. We both like the fried calamari and the draft beer. For us it was a place to go, close to home, when I didn't feel like cooking and didn't want pizza or cheap Chinese, my husband didn't want to get dressed up or spend a lot of money, and our entertainment for the evening was going to be browsing in the book store afterwards. There are other places we've been going to in recent years, newer, trendier--Chadwick's is easy, cheaper. Rarely ever a wait for a table, parking isn't a hassle, etc. And when Veggie-teen was younger, she liked the big sheets of white paper on the tables and the crayons.

'eh'!!! nope, much, MUCH worse than just 'eh', even at best A perfect storm of disgusting food and slovenly service.....but then again I'm probably just bitter because a 'waitress' (and I use that term VERY loosely) once dropped a pot of tea in my lap , and didn't even see the need to apologize

For a posh Francophile and serious foodie who prefers European cuisine. (Friend of a friend so that's all the info I have). Et Voila and Mari Vanna were all I could come up with. And Mari Vanna was a shot in the dark. Any suggestions? Geo range is Dupont to Friendship Heights, though MacArthur Blvd was seen as in range.

Headed to see Into the Woods tomorrow evening, and want to grab dinner for 2 afterwards around 7:30. After a lot of heavy holiday eating, I'm craving somewhere where we can eat on the light side (i.e. no French) so I thought Seafood, but open to other ideas. We will have a car, so anywhere nearish is fine, but I'd rather not venture into VA or downtown, as we live in Mt. Pleasant and it seems out of the way. I immediately thought of Blacksalt, but they are booked on Open Table. Should we try to get in as a walk-in? Try to sit at the bar? Or, other suggestions in the Friendship Heights/Bethesda/Palisades, etc. areas? Thanks!

We had family in town this weekend and one of them suggested Mi Cocina for dinner last night. I objected but was overruled. Needless to say 2 hours later everyone came around to my side of things. A cold plain room made even colder every time someone opened the door. Below average service (waiter didn't seem to know menue) and even worse food and water downed drinks. Live music was a nice touch and they do validate parking.

This is a franchise; I am commenting only on this particular location. To me a car is transportation. Washing a car is a waste of time and water unless it is necessary to remove road salt. Because after all, the next day, it is covered with pollen and dust and dirt again. But the inside of the car was really in need of a cleaning and a household vacuum just doesn't do the job so we took it to Ecodetail. They don't use water. Who knows what kind of earth-killing chemicals they use. They claim of the franchisor Every time I read something like that, it is only a matter of time before I read that they are in fact using something that creates frankenfish and dayglow orange trees. I mean, the guy was a 22-yr-old pugilist who worked at a Shell station and he knows what does/not harm the environment? There's so much co-opting of the term green to sell stuff that it is hard to trust it anymore. So I hope it is true but wouldn't be surprised if it isn't. So lesson one - don't send husband to do this if your husband suffers from male-pattern blindness because he won't see the spots they missed and you will have to take it back. So the first try resulted in a gorgeous exterior and nearly spotless interior but they missed a couple of places that were just not touched. I took it back the next day. They apologized profusely, did not just the couple of spots they missed, but actually re-did almost everything. The interior is now spotless. The two owner, Dimitrios, is a truly delightful guy.
