  1. Gonna grab some toxic torts with friends.
  2. I would say Corduroy or maybe Circle Bistro...
  3. All the losers can join me at the Mexican place next door.
  4. Rocks, I'm glad to see you putting a little Sarbanes-Oxley into everything. Very good.
  5. Ask Rocks. It's like pizza or something , but he talk about it a lot.
  6. Me too. Or maybe soup and this nag-damn bar tart at Marcel's
  7. Mmmmm, eat mussels and drink yummy beers for me... And dip bread...
  8. Actually a bite of a Cakelove cupcake, void the proper 15-45 minute warming up (errand running) time, is much like hard butter as opposed to mingle-moist. I get it.
  9. The bar (area) at Taberna del blah blah blah is great. The bar itself is a little too narrow to enjoy a full spread, but as many know already the man behind the bar is a star. And... If you can get one of the four seats at 1789, you're lucky. The bartender, Shake, is outstanding and a great conversationalist. I really do have an affinity for that bar. The bar itself was the original receptionist desk at The Evening Star long ago.
  10. Wait a minute. Happy hour is a luxury, so why the panic, Ms. Evans? You'll be fine.
  11. The Bar at Matisse is fine... I had dinner there, like, six years ago right at that bar--ambiance works. Have a martini for me.
  12. You should go to El Chalan on 20th and I Street, NW (Peruvian). The ambiance is bastement-bleak, but with good company and an extra 5 bucks or so for Pisco to warm your belly, I think you'll be fine...
  13. You're the only dude I know that runs errands while his cupcakes get warm. Maybe hit the tailor and the dry cleaners, pick up more coffee beans...
  14. Brown's CV In Washington, people get as much attention for what they did in their previous career as they do in their present one. I'm telling you, if I worked for Human Rights Watch in Darfur and then opened a bistro on 16th Street, I'd do really really well. If I worked as Condi Rice's press scty and then opened a pub, all the same...
  15. It's called critic capture. That's right, they take a screen shot of the top tier food critics in town and e-mail it to all their buddies.
  16. It's wonderful that after waiting nearly 40 minutes for a table, the mini-burgers and pizza at Matchbox strutted to the frontline tonight. Mini-burgers are not trite-- the ones I had tonight really were cooked medium rare, and their perfectly pillowy buns glistened with just the the right amount of grease. Mmmm, you just want hold it in your hands and tell everyone around you that, "Raaaar!! This burger's goood!" The onion strings were sweet and not quite falling apart, rather than overly crisp as those things tend to be... As for the pizza, it was sweet sausage and portobella with mozzarella and marinara. The flavor combination was exceptional, and overall for a thiner, more gooey-crusted pizza, it's the best I've had in sometime. Good to see a place that's so packed doing a better job than the last time. And nice shots, crackers!
  17. No we like'em both, we just know Tommy better than Jose-ey.
  18. I like the bacon and egg salad that Eve once had. All you do is pierce the egg and let the magic flow (very much like soup at Palena). And for cheap fun, carry out: The Wafu (with shirmp) and the Ginger salad at Spices. I've always liked the simplicity of the salads at Colorado Kitchen, and a lot of times those salads have fat-laden treasures hidden inside. That one at Buck's is yummy. Iceburg is under-rated. Ray's steak salald is yummy.
