  1. Interview with Aaron Silverman It's no wonder that this place is universally loved. Here's part of his answer on how to make it better: My goal is to sit down in every seat in Rose's. That's almost impossible. But I want to experience Rose's from every seat. Same for my managers. I want them to sit in all the seats. Guests are happy, but I know we can do a lot better.
  2. It's interesting you say that Don because I was just reading the thread on the Partisan and one of the posters complained that it was VERY loud in there. But yeah, Graffiato can be loud especially when it's packed. Best advice for any place that is on the loud side of the spectrum -- go very early The only other thing I'd note about the Partisan is the menu is very heavily meat oriented
  3. I'm a big fan of the tasting menus at both Kapnos and Graffiato. They bury you in dish after dish after dish and the price is fantastic (around 50 bucks I think). Tons of variety too. They also let you customize your dinner so if there are certain dishes you absolutely must have (or most avoid) they'll take care of you.
  4. You can also add "Michael's Genuine" in Miami to the list of It Don't Make No Sense My friend Wiki explains the Ruth's Chris thing. Excerpt: Chris Steak House was founded on February 27, 1927 by New Orleans entrepreneur Chris Matulich. (cut) In 1965, divorced single mother Ruth Fertel, realizing she needed to earn more money to send her teenage sons to college, mortgaged her house to purchase the restaurant. (cut) In early 1976, shortly after signing a new ten-year lease on the restaurant, a fire destroyed the building. Fertel had recently acquired a second property nearby to rent out as party space. Within seven days, she had relocated the restaurant to its new location a few blocks away at 721 Broad Street and re-opened it, expanding to 160 seats in the process.[12] The sales agreement with Matulich prevented her from using the original name at any other address, so she named the new restaurant Ruth's Chris Steak House in order to keep some continuity with the previous location.[15] She admitted later to Fortune Magazine that "I've always hated the name, but we've always managed to work around it."[16] Now where do I collect my prize?
  5. I can't cut and paste or quote either and Internet Explorer is my only option during the day. (this is a brand new problem for me most likely due to some "enhancement" my employer did to the system) RJBooneJr - can you be more specific about where to find the code editor button? Where is it in relation to File/Edit/View/Favorities/Tools/Help ?
  6. KN - It's been almost 2 years. Any updates to the Top 10, Top 12? (for some reason, I can't cut and paste today so please see post #1 for the list!)
  7. I wonder if his holiness eats with only his right hand at Rasika? One time when my wife and I were there we sat at the bar/counter in the back and a young Indian couple sat next to us. They ate the entire meal with their hands. I hope they didn't think too badly of us for using forks! ;-) (Of course they didn't. They looked like perfectly normal people, not some snobby critic who will scorn you if you had the audacity to eat a cuisine that you're not a complete expert on)
  8. Consider doing the tasting menu. It's a fantastic deal for the amount and variety of food you get. We've been to Graffiato a few times and the only time I wasn't thrilled by the meal was when we didn't get the tasting menu. You can customize your tasting menu too.......just tell the server what you like/don't like and they'll tailor it to your desires. PS - Don, I agree with Marty on the mutliple locations thing!
  9. If you get reservations, I guarantee you can fill the seats.............hell, if you get reservations I'll guarantee that I'll flll the seats. No joke! My thought has always been, if I manage to get through and score a reservation and I can't fill the 10/12 seats with firends, I could easily come here and fill them and there's a high probably the people from DR.com would fun dinner companions.
  10. My advice (after only one visit) is to trust your server and don't get hung up by the description on the menu of things that seem weird or don't go together. That's part of the brilliance of the place. They'll take a couple "normal" meal items and then throw in something completely out of left field, and you'll think, "that item as no business being in this dish". But then you taste it and think, "it's so obvious! why didn't anyone think of that before?!!?"
  11. Yep! I was cracking up reading those quotes too and am thinking of reading it again. For those of you who haven't read it (Confederacy of Dunces) and are reading the quotes and not laughing, don't worry, after you read the book, those quotes will become hilarious. Here's good one for this site: "Canned food is a perversion,' Ignatius said. 'I suspect that it is ultimately very damaging to the soul."
  12. I was going to suggest this one too. Amazingly hilarious book. Why it hasn't been made into a movie is a mystery. Very interesting story about the author too..........Toole wrote it, committed suicide, and his mother shopped it around until someone read it and published it. He later won the Pulitzer posthumously. If you read the book, make sure you read the forward where they explain the backstory. Just thinking about it now makes me want to read it again.
  13. Thanks for that perspective Don. I can't believe people would pull that kind of stuff, but obviously they do all the time...........which is another in the long list of reasons of why I hate people.
  14. I'm surprised there's not more (any) outrage over this. I know Tarver King* is darling among some on this board, but this seems beyond crazy**. If a favorite wipping boy like Mike Isabella pulled this, I can only image the scorn that would come raining down. I'd really like to try this place, but it's going to the bottom of my list beacuse of this. It's just too far away and too pricey to roll the dice on getting bumped for a bigger fish. * I've loved his cooking at the Ashby Inn so count me as a fan. ** It's possible that the chef had nothing to do with this and the decision was made for him, but still, it leaves a bad taste.
  15. it was sick! Federer fought back against 2 match points in the fourth set and after that, the wind pretty much came out of Monfils' sails and the 5th set was quickly over.
  16. I think Tim took offense to Todd's comment too, but for another reason. Here's a tweet he sent yesterday with a link to the Reliable Source article. I must admit, it took me a few seconds to figure out what he was talking about.
