  1. Happy Anniversary, and thank you for providing this forum for food enthusiasts to gather.
  2. If you are ever in the Charlottesville area, there is a cool place called Oil and Vinegar that is worth a visit. They are located in the Barracks Road Shopping Center. http://www.oilandvinegaronline.com/main.sc
  3. Crozet Is Humble Pie better than Crozet Pizza? http://www.crozetpizza.net/
  4. Some of the best bagels I have ever eaten come from Mister J's Bagels in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
  5. I think that Zola in Penn Quarter also does a Mac and Cheese that folks enjoy.
  6. I know that you are looking for a recipe, but wanted to pass along that the William and Sonoma Outlet in Leesburg, Virginia is selling a large can of their holiday eggnog pancake/waffle mix for less than four dollars.
  7. Congrats Chef Richard and Mr. Slater.
  8. Chef Greenwood: Thank you so very much for accepting Don's invitation to join this online community and share some of your thoughts, insight, and stories. I am enjoying this experience quite a bit, and look forward to the release of your book. Like everyone else on this board, I too have a question. Could you please share either your secret for making your Comet sauce, or a few times for a novice pizza maker such as myself or others on this board to try and duplicate at home? Thank you, Demetrius
  9. As the parent of two daugthers still in diapers, I have to agree that it is bad form to change a diaper in view of other diners. I also have been surprised a number of times by restaurants that do not have a changing table and/or area in the men's or woman's bathrooms. I am not sure how expensive it is for a restaurant to purchase a changing table for its restrooms, but know that it certainly helps a parent out when we are called to care for our children.
  10. You can always go to Wegmans and get a variety of wings, pizza and subs.
  11. Nuesky's Hot Dogs are supposed to be really good. http://www.nueskes.com/about/
  12. I think that the Wegmans in Sterling has fresh figs as well.
  13. There is an Arby's in just down the street from Great Falls Park across the street from Romantica Pizza.
  14. I would purchase a bottle as well.
  15. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, and to Porpucine for suggesting that we visit Bray and Scarff. My wife and I stopped by the Bray and Scarff location in Tysons Corner yesterday evening and after a couple of hours left having purchased a GE Profile refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom, as well as a GE washer and dryer. The sales guy was terrific and answered all of our questions.
  16. One Fish, Two Fish is also a great restaurant, with a beautiful open kitchen in the middle. If you do choose this restaurant, ask to be seated at a table overlooking the water.
  17. I highly suggest that you consider Todd Jurich's Bistro in Norfolk, Virginia. It is only a fifteen to twenty minute drive from the oceanfront. http://www.toddjurichsbistro.com/
  18. I think that Chadwicks in Georgetown as well as the location in Old Town Alexandria does a good job with serving its fried calamari with marinated peppers.
  19. The Wegman's in Sterling, Virginia has them for sale.
  20. Thanks Porcupine! That was exactly the advise I was looking for. Our two girls are going to camp grandma/grandpa next week and guess that we will visit the places you suggest then. Afterwards, I will report back and advise on what we find. The builder offered to sell us an upgraded version of each of the appliances, however, am taking the base model and putting it in the garage, next door a stand up freezer.
  21. Construction recently began on our first home, and in preperation of transitioning from apartment living to actually owning our own place we have begun the task of researching which appliances we want the builder to provide, and what we want to purchase ourselves. Based on what we have seen thus far, I would prefer a refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. However, each of our trips to the various box stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears, Best Buy, etc...) have resulted in little knowledge gained. We subscribe to Consumer Reports, but wanted to ask if anyone could offer any suggestions. Thank you.
  22. Our oldest daugther (Isabella) is turning two on November 26th, but are going to celebrate a little early while visiting the grandparents over the Thanksgiving holiday. Because our two children are the first grandchildren on either side of the family, the grandmothers are going a little crazy with ordering cakes, etc... However, my idea is for my wife and I to make about forty heart shapped sugar cookies decorated with icing and then fun messages such as 'Eat Me' on top. The question I have is that if we bake these cookies on Sunday, will they still be fresh if we are to serve them to Isabella and the guests on Thursday evening after dinner? And, would it make any difference if we were to bake them on Sunday, and then decorate on Wednesday? Thank you
  23. Wegman's in Sterling sells it under their own brand for $1.99 a pint.
  24. Padow's is another option, and they have a location in Charlottesville, minutes away from UVA.
