  1. I too am not a big fan of large corporate restaurants, but can say that their Clyde's On the Walk offers a good roast beef sandwiche for lunch.
  2. Cool. I can't wait to try out RR's recipe. Although I must admit that the left over sandwiches are what is driving me to try it out.
  3. I have a silly or novice question. Do the tenderloins need to be rinsed off and then patted dry after removing from the package?
  4. Dannon Blueberry Yogurt, and some fresh strawberries and pineapple. Delicious.
  5. Good luck on your exam. The recommendation of One Fish - Two Fish is a good one, but there are also some others to consider. http://www.tautogs.com/ http://www.rudees.com/ http://www.cobaltgrille.com/ http://www.toddjurichsbistro.com/ This restaurant is located in downtown Norfolk, but is my favorite restaurant in the entire State of Virginia.
  6. Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Thank you for helping me open my eyes and see all of the wonderful things I can create in the kitchen. And, a special thank you to Porcupine for her tenacity in helping me further develop my baking skills.
  7. Thank you Porcupine! I really appreciate this post, and look forward to try out each and every one of these recipes.
  8. I live in Reston, and think that one of the first sites checking out is the outdoor pavilion in the middle of the Reston Town Center. http://www.restontowncenter.com/ As far as food costs, Tortilla Cafe might be your best bet. There used to be a BBQ place across the street from the town center, but has been closed for at least the past year.
  9. I used your carrot cake recipe this past weekend, and proud to report that it was a huge hit. Thank you so very much! My daugther is being baptised in two weeks down in Virginia Beach, and am thinking about making it for the reception afterwards. If I do, I will be sure to take a picture before people start eating it. Do you have any suggestions for my next baking adventure?
  10. A friend of mine recently graduated from culinary school as a chocolatier, and opened his own business. His product is fantastic, and certain that you will enjoy. Tell him that Demetrius referred you. http://www.bristowchocolates.com/home.htm
  11. Found the recipe on weber.com. If anyone is interested, the recipe is: Sauce 1 pound package frozen mango chunks, defrosted, (divided) 2 tablespoons mayonnaise Finely grated zest of 1 lime 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice 1 tablespoon tequila 2 teaspoons minced jalapeño chile pepper 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  12. I recently read a recipe online for mango shrimp dipping sauce, but for the life of me cannot remember where I saw it. All that I can remember is that you are supposed to combine chopped mango, sour cream and mayo into a blender. I am certain that there are other ingredients and would be grateful if anyone could offer any suggestions. Many thanks.
  13. Another website for recipes to check out is: http://www.epicurious.com/
  14. Head to the Tattered Cover bookstore and grab a cup of coffee and check out the cool bookstore.
  15. Has anyone been to the Fat Canary in Colonial Williamsburg? The only information I have on the restaurant is that it has gotten some great reviews, andt is owned by the same family that runs The Cheese Shop next door. Interestingly enough, the chef is a recent CIA grad named Thomas Power.
  16. I know that Jason Storch of DCFoodies has participated in the cooking class. It might be worthwhile to check out his site and read about his experience.
  17. I have always been partial to Pierce's Pitt BBQ in Williamsburg, Virginia. Although on our next trip down to Virginia Beach, we might have to swing through Richmond to give this place a try.
  18. I would strongly suggest Penzeys. Check out their website below. http://www.penzeys.com/
  19. If I send you a PM with my email address, would you mind forwarding it to me that way?
  20. My wife is a huge fan of carrot cake, and cannot find a recipe via google searches that I am happy with. Does anyone have a tried and true recipe that you would be willing to share? Thank you.
  21. How about Zaytinya? It is a tappas place, and has a large variety of items on its menu to cater to the different likes/dislikes in your party. The URL to the restaurant is below. http://www.zaytinya.com/
  22. DCist has also taken note of the bad service DCFoodies and his family received and posted on their site. http://www.dcist.com/
