  1. Mystique creates high expectations, so if even one piece of silverware is out of place those expectations have not been met.
  2. You know, I hate his show on Fox, however he is not such an ass on the program i watched on BBCA a few days ago.
  3. What about Per Se? I have been trying for months to eat there. I am not sure it's worth it anymore. I think all these things should be considered when rating a restaurant.
  4. The airport is really close to the south end of the strip, I would not venture too far north on the strip if you only have 3hrs; the traffic is awful and slow at most times during the day, and worst in the evenings. The MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay have the best dinning options on the south end. I am not sure you will have enough time for a sit down meal with only 3 hours to spare. However, I would recommend Fleur de Lys at the Mandalay Bay for dinner, and Witchcraft at the MGM Grand (only open for lunch). Keep in mind that once you are inside any of these hotels, it's roughly a 5 min or more walk to get to the damn restaurants.
  5. The NY Times restaurant critic is the most influential and high profile food critic in the country (no disrespect to Tom), and I am sure Frank knows this. He did not like the reservation policy so he wrote about it to let Gordon Ramsey know that he was watching and got the policy changed ...all in a days work. I am not sure how much he was actually looking for the readers with this one
  6. If that's fair, then it's also fair for a paying customer to "tell the story" good or bad during opening night. As I am sure will hapen on the NYC boards when GR opens next week.
  7. He really did a number on them. They have back down Ramsay Revisited Someone is reading his blog:)
  8. I think his blog has a pretty large readership actually. There were over 100 comments on this one subject, and Gordon coming to New York is a pretty big deal in the city. I understand what he is doing. but it was not a postive blog entry for a place that's has not opened yet. Was this fair?
  9. Can you let us know what restaurants you are talking about here?
  10. They don't play by the "rules" in NYC. They take on restuarants before they even open. Gordon Ramsay at the London
  11. That's why I move around:) There are to many restaurants to try, I have no loyalty and I want to try them all.
  12. It really is a shame what's happening to Clarendon with the local shops. We have lived in the area for a short two years (moving on Friday) and so much has changed because of new development. With all those condo's coming up, the area is starting to look like an overpriced housing project.
  13. How long should a customer wait to discuss a new restaurant on this board? Should we also hold back any postive feedback to see if everything goes south as well? I have been to quite a few opening nights on my own dime and during return visits not much if anything changes about he food. Sevice issues can be fixed, the food however is what it is in MOST cases. I understand that some people here hold off on posting anything negative about some places, because of personal relationships that have been develop and their desire to see these people succeed. I have no issue with this, I would do the same, but don't bash those who don't agree with you.
  14. I assume you were not paying at the soft opening, so you should not discuss online. I know people disagree with me on this, but I think a restaurant is fair game when they open to paying customers. Service issues can be fixed, but the food is what it is in most cases.
  15. I find it quite amusing that is only ok to criticize a restaurant after it gets bashed by the Post, none of the above comments appear on the PS7 thread. I was called everything but a child of God, by the manager when I wrote about PS7 after eating there opening night. Not much has changed from opening night. ps7
  16. This is not a surprise to me.
  17. Sorry, I do not have time to read all that
  18. It was a pretty good read today. The Post is still far behind the NY Times when it comes to food reporting.
  19. Bryer's? are you kidding me? Hey, I am just joking. I have no issue with Cold Stone or Bryer's. I grew up on Bryer's, Ice Milk, and the two gallon tub of Neapolitan. I can assure you that once you have had homemade ice cream, it's really hard to go back!
  20. The tiramisu I had on Friday was the best I have ever had in a restaurant. I still can't get over how good and cheap this place is. We have been 4 times since it has opened and I have sampled every dessert except the poached pear; desserts are not to be missed.
  21. Good Luck, I am sure it will be a success! In my mind, I was the first person to discover Shoebox Oven at the farmers market. Please let us know where we can find you this winter.
  22. After dinner last night, my wife and I came to the conclusion that service was slow. However, It seems like they have to learn how to operate a casual dinning restaurant. Our waiter actually took the time to show someone to the restroom, that's properly not needed in a place with $10 entrees. I also thought the two managers who were just standing around in their suites could have been more involved in helping out the floor staff....clearing plates or something. What's up with that? The food however still shines. The pasta with pork rib ragu was excellent
