  1. I had the burger last night. It is by far the best burger I have ever had in a restaurant. It had the perfect bun to meat ratio, and was seasoned really well. I guess it you are going to charge $20 for a burger, it had better be damn good, as this one was. Totally worth it!
  2. Understood, but it was a very boring interview.
  3. I have never seen boneless short ribs anywhere but the Springfield Butcher. I use the bone- in for just regular braised short ribs, and the boneless I use for the Bouchon Beef Bourguignon. I thought the Pack I got from Shoppers was a pretty good deal because it was one of those large family packs. Maybe I just did not know any better.
  4. How many times do I have to read about the former White House Pastry Chef?
  5. I have noticed that the Shoppers near my home always has pretty good deals on meat. A few weeks ago I purchased a huge pack of short ribs for about $14. Short Ribs are hard to come by at WF, they usually just have a pack of 3 small ribs.
  6. Great Piece from the Times today. I know that the Whole Foods on Duke is always understocked on Saturdays at 11am. I first discovered Whole Foods when I lived in Durham, NC, and I loved the small feel of that store. Although I still love shopping at Whole Foods, the level ofservice is not there anymore. It's become the Home Depot of the food world, as most of the staff knows very little about the products. Just about every week a cashier will ask me to identify an item from the produce section. I find that that staff at my local Trader Joe's is much more helpful and knowledgeable about their products. There is something to be said about going public and getting too big too fast. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/28/dining/2...amp;oref=slogin
  7. LOL, must have been a slow news day. I also did not understand why the story about Clinton making $40 million since he left office such a big deal.
  8. What's funny about this ad, is that it helps to pay the salaries of the NY times staff.
  9. I still don't understand why this was on the front page this morning.
  10. I have had the french fries at Bouchon, and I just can't believe they were Sysco frozen. Maybe Sysco is doing something special for Keller. I don't even recall those fries being uniform in shape, a sure way to tell if they were frozen. Who knows. If they were frozen they were damn good!
  11. Near the Uno's in the shopping center on Fridays.
  12. I actually got my first package from them last week. I was searching for Flageolet Beans on the web and came across their website a few weeks ago. I ordered two bags of the Flageolet bean, and some dried peppers. I will be trying them this weekend. I am glad to know they taste good.
  13. Man, we came within hours of signing a contract for one of those townhouse condo's near the new Whole Foods. Fairlakes is a very nice area. Being a new homeowner myself, I would advise you cut back on eating out for the first three months. I like the Blue Iguana for drinks and hot wings!
  14. This is true, I just loved what he was doing at Ray's. My comment was not really directed at Viridian, I rally love their brunch, I am just going to miss his cooking at Ray's.
  15. We had a wonderful 5 hour dinner at Komi on Saturday night. I can't think of any other restaurant that would allow any table to stick around from 6-11pm. This place is totally unpretentious, and after our 5th visit I would say this my favorite restaurant in the Washington, DC metro area. It has been a long time since I had a meal where every single course was a hit IMHO. We took the easy route and made no decisons about what to eat on Friday and were treated to a lovely evening. All the above items mentioned by dag556 were outstanding. The pork is gone; but the spit roasted goat is a more than acceptable replacement. The pasta dishes that are coming out of the kitchen at Komi are the best in DC! We were able to sample five different pastas from the menu, and all were excellent (boar, goat, foie gras, potato ravioli, and gorgonzola). There is no better place in this city to enjoy a fine dinning meal....none!
  16. I somehow doubt a restaurant would go through all this for $100. My in- house attorney (wife) and I were discussing this last night, and she seems to think that consumers always win these type of cases. She did agree that you had some good points as well, but I would put my money on her:). The bottom line here is that I would never leave a restaruant hanging, so this is really a non issue for me. However, as I said before, if for some reason I was unable to cancel in time I would fight it.
