  1. Damn, Damn, Damn....until 3 months ago we lived across the street from this building, it is where the Five Guys and the really bad Thai place is located. We gave it all up for homeownership, and now this happens. Street Parking at night is pretty good in the area, at least until the new Ray's opens.
  2. In a restaurant in Paris a few years ago, I was enjoying a very good cassoulet, until the the longest strand of hair I had ever seen emerged from my bowl. The waiter did not blink when I showed him what I had found, he just offered to bring me another bowl. I just could not do it, even more so after seeing the cat that belong to the owner sitting in the booth next to me.
  3. A few weeks ago I had a very good Cassoulet, and my wife raved about the steak au poivre. I still think on a good night they have some of the best fries in town. The tart tatin was also pretty good that evening.
  4. I almost never carry cash, I use a debit card 90% of the time. I think merchants should suck it up as a cost for doing business. We live in a cash-less age. I once had a dry cleaner refuse to give my my clothes because he would not charge under $10 on a debit card! If I had know this fact, I would have gotten cash beforehand. He would only give me my dry cleaning if I let him charge me an additional $.40 to cover the credit card transaction. I let him charge me the additonal funds, after an arguement about how much business he was going to lose over $.40 ( our household dry cleaning bill is pretty high every month), and I have and never been back to that place.
  5. The last sentence of this article makes you think! In an Enclave of Serious Wine Lovers, a Mesmerizing Theft
  6. I am sure if something went wrong while those kids are in the kitchen, God forbid, the parents would not be so forgiving. I am sure your restauarant would end up in court. Besides, the kitchen at CK is very small.
  7. Anything is better than Subway or Quizno's. I still can't get over those rat commericals, to ever eat at Quizino's again.
  8. To rehydrate yourself from all the wine. The mark up on bottled water in restaurants is worse than wine.
  9. Once again the Times leaves us in the dust. The articles on Top Chef, New Yorkers paying for reservations, and the wine feature were all very entertaining today. What did we get today in DC? A feature article about winter markets, making chili, and a pretty boring feature on pizza. The "A" section is becoming more entertaining that food these days.
  10. I tried these on my last trip home to Charleston, SC, not bad, but not as good as Potbelly!
  11. I have not been here in about a month, however they really should have resolved all their service issues by now. Here is what Todd Kilman had to say about this today:
  12. LOL, this a true. I often complain about here big head when my wife is watching this show, as to distract from the fact that I am watching her cleavage.
  13. If any of you were offered millions to do a show like this, I bet you would do it. Besides, I like Rachel Ray, she looks like she really eats, unlike that big head Italian girl!
  14. The Washingtonian did an article very similar to this a few month back featuring kids from the DC area.
  15. Here are few that I have been taking for lunch recently: Chicken Pot pie- excellent crust and lots of chicking Chicken Marsala with brown rice Sheppards Pie Chicken Enchiladas with Salsa Verda Most are only about $3 and make for a pretty good lunch.
  16. What's your point? Have you had dinner here? Why do you care? There are many places that don't even offer anything off their usual menu during RW. Your post should be deleted.
  17. Trader Joe's has the best frozen dinners by far, and I am not sure why some of those did not make the list.
  18. Another reason the Times is far ahead of the post with regards to the food section. The article my Rulhman today was also a good read.
  19. I noticed this on Friday night as well. The new section is very nice, however it seems that you are at a disadvantage if you are a party of two; most of the tables seem to be for large parties. We got there at 6 and was told it would be only 30 min. for a table but it took an hour before we were seated. I only waited because my wife really wanted mini burgers and I already had some skin in the game after waiting the first 30! It also seems as if the the quality of the pizza is not what is used to be, and the mini-burgers were way over salted!
  20. I highly recommend recipes from "Sunday Suppers at Luques" for dinner parties. I am hooked on this book! It is organized by seasons, and each menu has one first course a choice of two main courses (Fish or meat) and one dessert. Even when we are not entertaining I have been cooking the something from this book for our Sunday night dinner. Some of the recipes require a lot or work, however they have been worth it.
  21. Had dinner last night at the bar, and I love the space. The prices are very reasonable and the food was pretty good. Here is some of what we enjoyed last night: Gougeres Lobster Burger- A little different from what I remember from Citronelle, but still very good Onion and Bacon Tart (free from the kitchen due food taken longer than usual to come out)-Excellent Fried Chicken- Good, but I wish I had orderd the salmon with lentils- French Fries- very good Macaroni & Cheese- Apple Pan Betty- Fischer d' Alsace- Very good beer, went well with the bacon tart Other Items I saw on the Menu: Short Ribs Salmon with lentils Cote de Boeuf for Two $78 Roast Chicken Lemon Tart The menu is only on page long. I am not sure if there is a different bar menu, as we ordered off the main dinner menu. The waiter told us that they would be opening for lunch next week.
