  1. Do you think Bebo can or will be kid friendly - And I do not mean prime time on Saturday night. I am thinking 5ish on a Saturday night. Probably better after they get the pizza going.
  2. If eating at the Bar, I remember reading a special bar menu. Can full menu be ordered from the bar or only the bar menu? I don't want to do a reservation on Wednesday since I don't know what time I will get out of the office but I will be in SS and want to have a good meal. Have there been any issues getting a seat at the bar during the 6-7'ish hour.
  3. I took that to mean that the food was three stars but a couple of service lapses on the floor cost them the 1/2 star.
  4. Since there were some last minute cancellations. I am going to jump in and grab one of those cancelled seats.
  5. I had a 4 hour layover at O'hare last month thanks to a delayed flight. The hot dogs were not bad (2 became my dinner) and based on my walk thru of B&C terminal this was the best of the options.I tried the Eli's cheesecake stand and was very disappointed. It was not bad, but it was not good either. My immediate reaction was that of "this tastes fake" as opposed to nice and creamy. I will be going thru O'hare 3 or 4 times a year now - suggestions are welcome (Ideas for their security line are welcome too).
  6. No it is ground beef not chunks. As a kid I never liked beans (still not a fan), so any time I made chili I always left out the beans.
  7. Put me down for a beef chili without beans. You can call this a New York version of Texas chili.
  8. I have not been to Celebrity in ages, but I have heard it went way down hill since the original owner sold out about a year or two ago. FYI - Brooklyn's Deli is only open for breakfast and lunch they close at 3. I passed by one night last week after this thread appeared and they were closed.
  9. I would like to say - Thank You to Michael.I have been to RTC three times and each time I have received top notch service (not perfect, but top notch) EXCELLENT food and people who really enjoy what they do. Anytime anything has ever come up (little things always do), Michael has always been within glancing distance and handles it properly and professionally.
  10. I encountered the same as Dan. A nice 2 hour relaxing dinner with Great Food and Michael's charming suited wit. I am almost disappointed when I see Michael in a suit, I for one loved his shirt collection that he used in Arlington.Next time I am in SS for a movie, I am coming in just for dessert. We odered the chocolate trifle, Let's just say it was the best, but I had a really hard time deciding. The other options were Milk and cookies - I loved this last time I was there or the Charlotte Peach that I have heard so many great things about but never tried. The Strawberry Ice cream with biscuits that I had tried during the preview dinner, it was good but definitely and also ran against the others. - Maybe a dessert sampler of a little of each. The thing about desserts with Ice cream in them is that no one is going to beat Moorenko's Ice cream (located about 1/4 mile away on Georgia), maybe have them become the supplier.
  11. Does anyone know if Bloom is a nice chain or is it just more schlock?
  12. I have a reservation for Saturday night and am looking forward to usual excellent service and best food.Anything else is nonsense and I am sure everyone would agree. My toughest choice coming up should be if I should get the veal or the strip. This should be the discussion.
  13. I am thinking a joke. I did try it about fifteen years ago and thought it was a pretty bad pig trough. However, about three years ago I was at a meeting in Ocean City just before the Memorial day weekend. One of our people wanted crabs and Philips (on 20th street) was the closest place. I do remember about a dozen people having some ok crabs. I also remember lots of beer that night, so maybe that helped the memories.
  14. I have my kids that weekend. Everyone with kids (Dan, Heather, Scott etc, I know there are others with young kids) please let me know if you are bringing kids.Thanks.
  15. Try walking off a cruise ship ship with a diet coke in your hand. The feds were on me like I was enemy number one.
  16. We had a reservation last night for 8:30pm. Called on Tuesday afternoon and was offered 6:00 or 8:30. Was asked to call back on Saturday afternoon to confim. The person taking reservation and confirmation was very politie and proper. Dinner was great. We sat at one of the two tops in the bar. The location was perfect because the bar was not crowded and we could hear ourselves talk. I also liked the location for people watching, you could see everyone coming and going. On to the food - We had the sausage biscuts and they are exactly as described above. Really good, if you are sharing ask for extra sauce. Crab bisque - Better than the original with real lump on top. Complimentary Salads - The potato crueton on the ceaser could be an appetizer onto its own. The chopped liver with the bread should be an appetizer portion on its own - I will be calling next month to ask to purchase a couple of pounds for holiday dinner. Your version is way better than traditional and I hope that Micheal can help me out. Fried Chicken entree - enjoyed the skin very much but the meat felt like just chicken - an idea - Just skin the chicken and fry up the skin, you can add it to the cocktail menu. The cowboy steak lost nothing on its trip across the river. We were going to get mashed potatoes and when Michael was passing he said to get the au gratin instead, he was totally right on. - Always listen to Michael, he knows his food. We were full but had to try the milk and cookies - many descriptions above - The real thing is so better than the imagined based on descriptions - milk and cookies - just do it. - Thank You Michael for sending these over. We were not drinking last night, so no comment on the wine service. Since we are now allowed to talk about the open dinners, any chance the watermelon cooler will make it to the bar menu (If not can we steal the recipe) Our waiter was really nice and I think with a little practice will be great. He seemed nervous and unsure about many things. Just little things (no big deal, only worth mentioning for constructive sake) like when we said we were sharing he only brought out one spoon and one steak knife and we had to ask for second (It came in a second, but a pro would have picked up to bring out both at the start). On the good side for him he took my valet ticket and had my car brought around so we did not have to wait outside. Michael - Where do you get those steak knives. I really fell in love with them. The bill - $70 + tip (no alcohol). This would have been twice that anywhere else
  17. If you are doing whole chickens cut up, a safe order would be three people per chicken (I would do seven). this allows for a combination of big eaters (two breasts and a leg) and kids that may only have one leg.
  18. Joe - Thank You for the tip.We stopped off for lunch today. Had a dozen large ($50), they were nice size and sweet. We had the cream of crab soup and more lump crab in the bowl than I have ever seen before. We also had crab dip (really flavorful and creamy) and the crab balls. We did not get the crab cakes, but the balls were very good (not lump in the balls).
  19. A good wait person can usually read the table with some accuracy. When I take my kids to dinner. I want the check quickly and efficiently, Don't worry about rushing me out. If we are trying to make a show, yes rush me out. When I am out with friends and we are having a relaxing dinner I am in no rush, I would probably like to linger over coffee. I am sure you could tell the difference. The problem is the college student with no real experience cannot. When I have someone waiting on me with obviously little experience, I tend to tell them what I need. The problem comes up when they just disappear.
  20. when I fly, I think of the crew acts more like waitresses serving beverages. For flights under two or three hours I can bring my own bottle of diet coke or water. As for food, I never liked what was served anyway, so I would be just as happy to bring something light and eat when I land. I don't fly often and always domestic so I may feel differently on an international long flight, but on my 40 minute flight to NY they can keep their complimentary bevarage and nuts.
