  1. I have been to Agrodolce and I really do do not like their red sauce on their pasta. Too sweet I think. They do have pizza combinations that I think work really well. So if you are out that way and do not feel like traveling they do have food worth the time.
  2. Another place very good and not mentioned is Black Market. It is technically in Garrett Park, but only a few minutes off of Rockville Pike. For that matter Addies on Rockville Pike by the same owner.
  3. Dan's report and summation is exactly right on the money. We got there about 12:20, there was only three people in front of us and it took almost fifteen minutes to take an order and get food. The hot dog's were the big quarter pounders on the same big rolls as the steaks. My girls could have shared one. They were not serving fries today, one of the guys said the fryer was down. In regards to mayo - they do have a sign that they will not put it on the sandwich and packets are available if you want to do it youself.
  4. I have my kids this weekend so we would have to make it a family event.Anyone up for a family event?
  5. Sorry, I have to disagree -Mmmmmm - Soul Rolls
  6. Urban BBQ IS the best in the area and is really great, not a settlefor.I was trying to link to the Urban folder in Restaurants, but not working (search in Restaurants)
  7. We will have to try them another time, they are closed for vacation July 1 - July 10th.
  8. I had a similar issue tonight. National chain that will go unnamed. Service was very poor (still never got my salad) and dinner should have ran about $20 or so. Manager comped meal. I said Thank you and that it was not necessary. They brought the bill folder and the ticket said comp 0.00. I put a five into the folder said thank you to the manager. Still not sure if it was the right thing since it was poor service that resulted in the comp, but if nothing else I feel okay about my decision.
  9. My girlfriends birthday is this weekend and she wants to go for Thai. I have never had Thai before. Where would our best bet be? Would we need reservations? Price range?? I know this sounds like an ask Tom question, but input is appreciated. Does not have to be but preferredThanks.
  10. They are right next to the bar.I don't get down there very often, but I stopped in one Friday night and the place was empty. I would agree the service was a little slow, but the food was excellent (cannot beat it for the price). I believe that it is the same food served in the main Galileo restaurant but at a lower price point (maybe a smaller portion). I am sure they do not have a separate kitchen.
  11. It is across from Starbucks, but it is actually on Woodmont. One block down from Wisconsin.
  12. In Bethesda the have on Tuesday mornings (10-2) what they call a Farmer's Market (does not seem to be on any list). They do have a few tables with some baked goods and a little produce. I walked out for a minute (until the rain started again) and they have added a crepe wagon. Today was his first day and he said he would be there every Tuesday through labor day. Due to the weather I did not get today, but next Tuesday I will be on a mission.
  13. Please keep it up because it is fun. I think someone (or someone's) is taking themselves a little too seriously. We can also thank Don for letting us have some fun and a break in the day with my favorite topic and hobby.
  14. I have been three times. I do admit that if Silver Spring really opens I would go more often.Maybe we can have a contest - A pool to guess the date and time the first steak get served.
  15. I will be staying at Portofino Bay for a conference in a few weeks. Any ideas to take a client to dinner?I know there are two corporate planned dinners, one at the Italian place mentioned above, the other at Planet Hollywood.
  16. This New Orleans spot (around the corner from Five Guys, in the restaurant row across from the Germantown movies) has been open about a year and I have not gotten to eat there yet, so I cannot comment on the food or service. I did however pass it last night when I needed to bring a snack to a friend and they had double chocolate cake on the special board as a dessert. It was extremely fresh, probably made that day. The chocolate cake and thick chocolate frosting definitely had a great homemade taste. I will have to make it a point to get there for dinner. I did also get one of their pralines. It was a little too sweet for me, it tasted like I was eating straight sugar.(I had some pralines about five years ago when I was in NO and I do not remember them being this sweet). Is my memory failing or is the way they are supposed to be? Anyone been? Can we make a push for this mom & pop in Germantown as opposed to the Chain Hell of suburbia?
  17. Build it and they will come is a great movie line, but by itself is a guarantee for business failure. Too many great business ideas fail because no one knows about it. I had never heard of Peperonta Pasta and I too live ten minutes away and would love a shop like this. I will go the extra mile to shop independents (anyone remember when five guys was an independent in VA only). Fresh Pasta sounds really good for tonight, does anyone know of any other places in Montgomery County.
  18. Another good option for the Montgomery County crowd that I take the girls to is up off of Shady Grove Road just behind the Home Depot shopping center. Zio's - On Gaither Road. They have very good tasting pizza. It is not New York style and for me to endorse pizza that is not NY style says a lot. The flavor of the dough is very tasty. I was there the other night and enjoyed some pasta with red sauces. The crostini was also good. Seems to be a nice family owned place that you can always get a table at. We went there a few weeks ago after we could not get a table at a steak chain down the street. We got a table immediately.
  19. That is the perfect description - Standard Italian American Stuff. Pasta with various sauces. The Monday night special works wonders. The kids love it, I have never had a bad meal at the Federal Plaza location (But very tiny). Please listen to Dan's advice on the Shady Grove location - I have never had a good meal at the Shady Grove (near the hospital) location. I only get pizza from Bethesda (usually pick it up on Tuesday night's when they have buy one get one for 99 cents). Never been to Olney. Maybe you Dan & I can pack the place on a Monday or Tuesday with all the kids.
  20. I take my kids to Carraba's in Germantown all the time. They have bar seats in front of the cooking area and the girls love to sit there and watch them cook the pasta. They also always give the kids a swatch of pizza dough to play with while they are waiting for their food. My kids are usually good but busy kids are good kids There are a few entrees that are pretty good. The prices are reasonable. The servers are young, but they are usually enthusiastic and trained well.
  21. Is anyone going to the Taste of Wheaton tomorrow?
