  1. Well, yeah. Just kind of like "Surprise!!" Know what would be really good right now? A lobster burger. Yes, I realize it's more 'breakfast' time, thank you.
  2. I'll be there, but I may be running a few minutes behind if helping a friend move some stuff takes longer than expected. Edited for: .......unless she wants to go out afterwards!
  3. Sorry, fresh out. They've got cotton candy encased fois gras at Minibar, though.
  4. The oxtail taco is dead! Long live the oxtail quesadilla! Look like Chef Andres is making more changes to the menu at Oyamel. The happy hour menu, which previous was a limited full price menu of tacos and ceviche with drink specials is now drink specials, full menu, and 'small bites' happy hour specials of smaller portions of some of the dinner items at reduced prices (Ex: three plantain fritters at $1.50), and I believe individual tacos. Tacos which by the way now come two to an order instead of three. A few old favorites [of mine] are also gone, including the chile en nogada and the aforementioned oxtail taco. Oxtail remains on the menu in the form of a quesadilla with a spicy green salsa, which I believe was the same as the one that came with squash blossom quesadilla (Gone as well, but it's a seasonal thing). I wanted to try the duck confit taco, which is served the same way as the oxtail taco, but they were out. Dessert special today? Avocado four ways.
  5. Yesterday, with my boss and a friend, I made a tour of some of the finer crappy chain diners in the Springfield/Woodbridge area, having a late breakfast/early lunch at Bob Evans, and then a late dinner/dessert affair at Silver Diner. A full report in it's own thread will be written forthwith.
  6. I am down, as usual, but unfortunately tonight, I am not up for it, due to a prior engagement.
  7. Nothing! Sea Captain is a standup guy, but I wouldn't want to eat him, house-made saurkraut or no. Edited to add: I've never had the Palena dog, so I don't know first-hand if the comparison stands, but I'm still willing to give it a shot!
  8. Update: Sweeet....it is for occasions like this that the word 'ph34r' (See: ninja emoticon) was invented.
  9. Yeah, the other day I trekked over to The Well Dressed Burrito, and they were closed. They seem to be open for about 2.5 hours/day!
  10. Like selling wine by the glass at a liquor store? Can you DO that?
  11. Yeah, I'm dissapointed, too...haven't been to the grill in a while. I was supposed to see the people Tuesday (And the Saturday before!) for the parts, but they are being flakes. Frankly, I'll believe I have these parts when my TV stand starts acting more like a computer. Is now a bad time to mention I probably can't do happy hour on Friday because I have to go to a friend's LAN party? Edited to recall: Oh, the LAN thing goes until Midnight. Should be fine.
  12. No grill for me today, unfortunately...have to do a later lunch break to go to Reston for those parts, afterall. Can we do this again next week?
  13. Firefox AND Linux AND Tor w/Privoxy ....and perfectly willing to live in ignorance (Or an unconfirmed 'pretty good idea', at least)!
  14. what's with the 'user posted image' in place of images? Something change?
  15. I'll try and get there. I have to somehow get myself to Reston to pick up some server parts I was supposed to have gotten over the weekend, but I should be able to get to Galileo first.
  16. Hm...would wine be too acidic to put in a flask? Can see it reacting with the metal, depending on what it was made of.
  17. I'm having trouble even picturing this. The waitrons SING? Like, "The Singing Sirloin"? What do they sing?
  18. The Lebanese place is fairly decent, except for the very slow service the one time I was there. Place was empty, too. Food ranged from 'alright' to 'pretty good, actually', and I don't remember it being horribly expensive. The diner is....reasonable. Expensive, and lacking in many diner standards that you might come to expect. Still though, if you ever want to escape your own party at 2:30 on a Sunday morning, that's the place to go. The sports bar is alright. The snacks are, as Nadya would say, 'serviceable' for pool and beer with roommates. Pretty decent chili fries, actually. Better than the diner's, certainly. Never been to the Thai place, nor the other Thai place, which may be a Vietnamese place. Either way, they advertise Pho, but I've never been. Mourning Sinplicity Cafe's switch to a purely catering operation. We need more places like this. I hardly knew ye. To be honest, I rarely ever drag myself all the way over to 23rd street, except for occasional pool or diner food. As far as the Crystal Drive strip goes, we've got Oyamel and Jaleo (Which I STILL haven't gone to!), and the new Thai place Neramitra, which gave me a very good first impression the other week. Also looks like the "Ted's Montana Grill" is currently under construction. Anybody ever been to Matsutake?
