  1. I'm in, unless I am having a serious bruce-springsteen-concert hangover.
  2. White wine. I would tell you more, but that's all I know.
  3. I've got to cancel. Water in my basement; plumber on the way. So sorry! Best wishes!
  4. I am mashed potatoes, and i'm pissed. I've got plenty of flava! Glue, too!
  5. I went in July or August. I did not have time to sample the menu, but I enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich. It would be nice to go back to experience more of the menu.
  6. Thanks, mktye. You're amazing, and wonderful!
  7. Brent, You've left us way too soon, but I will continue to carry your smile, laugh, and caring and easy-going manner with me, and I hope to share it with others in the same way that you shared it with me. When Brent started working at Corduroy I was skeptical. Pichan was leaving, and the new guy was some young kid. One day, Pichan introduced me to Brent, and I told Brent, in a pleasant way, that it was nice to meet him and I was sure he was a nice guy, but no one could replace Pichan. Brent looked me straight in the eye, as he was drying a glass, and told me that of course he could not replace Pichan, that he was sorry Pichan was leaving, and that he was glad to have an opportunity to learn from him. You could have knocked me over with a feather. On my next visit, Brent was working the bar, and as I approached he said with a smile on his face, "Hello Monique. It's good to see you again. You'll be having the Thunder Mountain, right?" Later, when Damon (Beerman) died, Brent (and so many others at Corduroy) took care of me. Because Brent worked the bar, he had many opportunities to put a smile on my face and to help me through a difficult time. I will be forever grateful to him for that, and I am deeply saddened that he is gone. Brent, you were absolute joy, I am honored to have known you. Rest easy my friend.
  8. Go for it Rocks! You're not alone. I resumed my workout program last week. Wanna know why? Is it because I deeply committed to health and fitness? No! It's because last Sunday I saw a number on my scale that I hadn't seen since we started the fit for summer challene ten months ago. Oh, the horror! Also, my college reunion's in two week. So, i've been working out like a crazy person. My legs are killing me, I haven't been out to eat in a week, and i'm pissed off that i gained this weight, but I had to start somewhere. So, keep up the good work and the posts. They're inspiring.
  9. Drinks at the Tabard Inn. Dinner at Komi.
  10. It's Saturday. Does that mean the chat is over? I hope not! Ann Cashion, you have blown me away. Don was right when he said a titan was coming. How could we have known she would be gracious, introspective, funny, and charming. I dined at Johnny's twice this summer, and enjoyed myself both times. On one occassion I had the fried oysters as an appetizer and as an entree, and both times I had the perfection known as the buttermilk pie for dessert. How have you adjusted to being on the hill? Do you miss the Dupont Cirle vibe, or intimacy, for lack of a better word? Have customers (other than your P Street regulars) expected to see certain specific items on the menu because of the location (as opposed to a general menu expansion). What's your favorite dish on the menu? Thanks again, Halloween
  11. I'll be at the bar at Corduroy tonight around 6:30, having a birthday drink. Please feel free to join me. I'm a few days late, but it's been one heck of a week or month or year, depending on how you look at it. (I know. I should change my screen name back to Monique DC). I see that it's JPW's birthday. Happy B'Day, JPW! Where will you be whimming?
  12. Respectfully, I don't see what the big deal is. In December 2006 and April 2007, in the jobs thread, Don posted an ad for a dr.com employee. That employee was supposed to perform several duties, including: Figure out how to help the underprivileged without being a nuisance to members Why didn't people comment/object/seek clarification at that time? Not sure why this is such a hot-button issue now.
  13. I've got a reservation for 4 at Vidalia for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Please PM me if you'd like to join me or if you'd like to have the entire reservation. Diddy, I think you should take your parents to Corduroy.
  14. Dr.com family, Thank you for your love, care and concern. It means a lot to me. This is such an amazing community, and i'm glad that Damon had the opportunity to enjoy it and contribute to it. Ah, yes, the rowdy table. Yes, Drive-by Critic, Damon was the Anacostia Riverkeeper some years ago. He was appointed by Mayor Williams, and was the first African-American Riverkeeper in the United States. He also worked for the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund (before it became Earthjustice), the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, opened a law practice, and most recently worked for the Department of Transportation. Damon and I met and became friends in law school (15 years ago!), and he was like family to me. He had a hearty laugh, a generous heart, a love of family and friends, and impeccable taste. Oh, and a flair for making grand entrances. His friends and family are shocked and devastated by his death, and we will miss him terribly. Monique DC
  15. I stopped by yesterday, and there was a sign on the door that said they were closed due to brown outs, but would be open today. You may want to call before you go.
  16. I've decided to do the lickety-split lunch at Eve today--for the very first time! In fact, this will be my first trip to Eve. Anyone care to join me? I should arrive around 12:30 or so, but I've got a lot of flexibility today and can arrive earlier or later than 12:30. Anything on the menu right now that I shouldn't miss?
  17. Bravo, Zora! Thank you.
  18. I'm coming to the 8 pm set. I probably won't be able to make it to BP, though. See you guys later!
  19. Peach blueberry crisp. Heaven. (Btw, Rocks needs professional help. )
