  1. Man that family sure loves it's burgers. That said, so do I.
  2. Yeah, I have no idea what it is. Some off taste I can't identify. I do like other wietbiers [Hoegaarden is okay, I love Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly].
  3. I liked what I've tried from Ommegang [and, as a huge baseball fan, should drive out to Cooperstown some time] thus far, so bought their Witte at Harris Teeter this evening. Don't really like it. Almost seems too hoppy for my tastes, which is odd to me for a wietbier. Then again, I'm not a hophead at all.
  4. Had some bacon fat leftover from making BLT's last weekend [for a ride out to Skyline Drive]. Had some chicken marinating in BBQ sauce. Fried up the chicken, coated in panko, in the bacon fat. Yummy.
  5. Having heard so much of it, good and bad, I decided to try this place out early this evening. Got the smokehouse burger with bacon and bbq. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not bad; a good, fast-food type greasy burger. Really liked the marshmallow shake, although it was possibly too thick. That said, didn't love it enough to ever go back unless I'm in the area, though I seldom am.
  6. He sold off Campagnola before owning Bistro Campagne. I believe Campagnola is still in Evanston, though I haven't been under the new ownership. Yeah, I couldn't remember the name of the pizza place, either. There are just way too many neapolitan-style places these days. I looked it up. I was thinking it was Slice, but it's Crust.
  7. Glad you enjoyed it! Chef Michael Altenberg is my cousin's brother-in-law. Enjoyed his Evanston Italian restaurant, Campagnola, and now Bistro Campagne. He opened up an organic pizza place that I have yet to get to.
  8. So I bought a package of frozen buffalo burgers the other day. They say 'cook from frozen', and yet they are packaged in twos, with paper in between. I had to thaw them out to cook them. They were decent-tasting, not great, but whomever designed that packaging was, uhh, missing something upstairs.
  9. Oh man, was there about a month ago. We had to wait over an hour on a saturday night, but it was worth it. I got Lair of the Minotaur [Caramelized Onions, Pancetta, Brie, Bourbon Soaked Pears]. Man was it good. The pears were a nice touch. Best burger I've had outside of Ray's [although Ann's Snacks Bar in Decatur, GA is up there, too].
  10. I came in here to say the Chicago Bulls for a fantastic effort vs the defending champs. Here's hoping this is a springboard for next season. And the Chicago Blackhawks! For a come-from-behind winner in Vancouver. 6-3 win, series tied at 1-1, bringing it back home tuesday.
  11. 2100 Clybourn Ave., West Lincoln Park. I used to work at a grocery store (Treasure Island) right near there.
  12. Friend of mine said she was sad she won't eat pork BBQ now.
  13. I've thought the Falls Church location better in my couple visits than the one in Bethesda. That's not to say either was very good. Which is a shame, because I grew up on Walker Brothers in Wilmette, IL [also an OPH]. Simply great.
  14. I'm guessing no metal bottles, but Nats crowds aren't exactly rowdy.
  15. I would eat it, but I don't like popcorn.
  16. DCist commenters not so excited: http://dcist.com/2009/03/policy_opens_today.php
  17. I've been to a good tapas place in LoDo, forgot the name, though. EDIT: The 9th Door, maybe?
  18. Still room for this? And it is walkable from Rockville metro? Rather not drive from Alexandria.
  19. Will have to try the others. Went to college and worked on the newspaper with the NYT writer.
  20. Stopped in at Calvert-Woodley to pick up a bottle of Wasmund's today, after touring the distillery on a hike in November [very nice guy, too]. They had no idea what I was talking about and said it wasn't distributed in DC. So, I headed up Connecticut Ave. to Chevy Chase Liquors, they not only had the whiskey, but the Rye, too. I was tempted to pick up the rye as well as the whiskey, but stuck with the latter.
  21. Two Chicago Bulls legends lost on one night... Johnny 'Red' Kerr and Norm Van Lier.
