  1. You can buy bone marrow at Brookeville market in cleveland park. You can eat it (really good by the way) at Blue Duck Tavern
  2. It was a very tough year for us spaniards to see Alonso get pushed around in favor of a rookie this year. But on to food.... When I go to Lucky Bar i order the fish and chips, they're mediocre, but eadible. If anybody likes soccer today at lucky bar they are playing Real Madrid versus Valencia and Sevilla versus Atletico Madrid
  3. You can get Formula 1 on the speed channel. But they do play F1, just not on the big screens and they won't open up for F1 like they will for soccer. Well that is unless Lewis Hamilton cheats his way into a title next year, like he almost did this year.
  4. They only enforce it when they have to. 2 years ago for the Barcelona Arsenal game they had 450 people show up at a bar with little over 200 capacity, they need to find ways to weed out people b/c it does get very packed, especially towards the end of the season
  5. Do you think that the red snapper ceviche is the "best" ceviche in the dc area? While I am not really into ceviches, I find the lime overpowering most of the time, this one has almost perfect balance and actually has flavor of the fish
  6. I think it should have a slight, but not overpowering, hint of iron. You should be able to tell that you are eating raw meat. Zaytinya does a pretty good version of this dish, but like i wrote a few posts ago, Neyla has a great rendition.
  7. Lucky Bar stayed open through the night during the 2002 Korea World Cup when my beloved spain had to play at 3am and 5am (and got robbed, but thats another bitter story). They play all sports and have every champions league game available through various international satellite networks. As for food...... it is what it is
  8. The thing is I'm not trying to fry the cheese, just searing it or grilling it. So I dont want to add oil to the cooking method or flour to the cheese. It obviously has to be a hard cheese and I believe hard aged goat cheese works well, but I'm not quite sure
  9. So yesterday I wanted to sear a cheese and thought Feta would be a good option since it doesnt melt (so i thought). I left the cheese in cloth for about an hour to drain as much water as possible and made a green sauce with blended cilantro, lemon, garlic and olive oil. However, once I seared the cheese it started to melt at the bottom instead of browning on the outside (the result I actually wanted). So to sum up my question - What did I do wrong? but also, what cheeses (without adding flour) work for this type of dish?
  10. I'm a sucker for the flan at jaleo
  11. This is one of my favorite restaurants for parties. I wouldn't call it trendy, but this place is more than a restaurant to the lebanese expats in the area. It is a place for many established arabs in the area to hang out and have drinks after dinner. They do serve up some pretty solid food - off the top of my head I can think of the green beans with tomato sauce, the kibbe nayeh, obviously have to get the grand mezze, there is also a pistachio desert with rose water that is excellent. Enjoy, this is a really fun and extremely underrated restaurant by non arabs
  12. Greek Deli Breadline Hanks Sushi Ko Zaytinya Taqueria Distrito Federal Pollo Rico Amsterdam Falafel
  13. That was very moving, I hope there will be many more to come
  14. I think taberna del alabardero would fit your needs here. It's quiet, elegant, classic service and good wine list.
  15. I don't think Zaytinya or any of Jose Andres' restaurants are fusion at all. Yes Zaytinya serves dishes from Greece, Turkey, Lebanon and Israel, but the dishes are never fused. They try to be as traditional as possible, yes there may be a few modern renditions here and there but overall Zaytinya is pretty traditional food and just b/c the dish doesn't look like the one we are used to may mean that one dish has different variations depending on the country it comes from. I have seen 3 versions of Manti and I believe Zaytinya serves the Turkish version.
  16. I always get it when i go to Neyla, its a huge portion and I get the half order. But I went to zaytinya a few months ago and really enjoyed their version, maybe even more than Neyla's
  17. What about uptown tavern in cleveland park
