  1. No, but I'd rather have a Ferrari than a DeLorean.
  2. Congratulations to "Thread":
  3. I think that's fine. Although Arjun "Filbert" Bhide has a certain ring to it.
  4. I thought we already had a Peanut here. How about Cashew or Pistachio? Or maybe Filbert? BTW - Congratulations.

  6. Mine's already arrived. Surprisingly un-scary place considering its location in the back of a business/industrial park. And things were well cooked - not overcooked - with only the typical berbere spiciness missing, especially in the beef. And it is much closer than U St. or Adams Morgan.
  7. I'm all for it. Now we need more people... or not.
  8. I was just thinking the same thing. I've been wanting to try some places I haven't been that I found on that HerdonCuisine site. Euro Bistro looks interesting to me - if German food can be interesting. So do Jamaica Jamaica and Warka. I've been craving Peruvian lately too, so Pollo Inka also sounds good to me.
  9. I went out of town at the last minute and actually haven't looked at a computer since Monday night. Expect something tomorrow afternoon. But, No. I didn't really recieve many responses either.

  11. I know it has been a little while since I last posted results so I am planning on doing it on Monday. If anyone hasn't reported in a while, this would be a good time. Even if we haven't reached our goals yet, there's still time to make a last push over the final month.
  12. Congratulations - it appears hard work and dedication actually do pay off.
  13. I went for lunch earlier this week, too and I thought the buffet was very good. I loved the chaat bar - crisps, potato/chickpea/onion mix, chutneys, raita. I could just eat a couple plates of that and a couple gulab jamuns and be happy. I thought the food was the equal of Minerva with the added benefits of being easier to get into and park and a much nicer setting than the banquet hall style at Minerva.
  14. *Smacking self on head* - I was just there yesterday. The garlic shrimp are very good and I love the mushrooms - just a big bowl of mixed mushrooms sauteed in oil and garlic, but great with a few pieces of bread for sopping. I just got back from Tavern on the Lake and it was a mixed bag, in several respects. The tapas menu has about 20 items, all ranging between 4 and 7 dollars, but their origins are scattered. A little bit Spanish, some Mexican, Asian, Indian, and American all mixed in. I had a Vietnamese marinated beef that was very good - grilled flank steak marinated in a lemongrass fish sauce marinade. Very tender, if a bit sweet, but small for the price. A chicken flauta was also very good and more substantial. The only real miss was a baked crab dish that was like a crab bread pudding. There wasn't any discernible flavor, even after the dish cooled from its initial lava-like state. Very quiet today - only about three or four table taken, but a surprisingly nice, light filled room. I always find the places around Lake Anne to be a bit dismal and depressing to go along with the 1960's-modern Soviet-feel architecture. And especially considering that the former occupant of this space - a short-lived Lebanese place - was depressingly dark.
  15. There actually is a tapas place at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston called Tavern on the Lake that opened last year. I've not been because Lake Anne never seems very convenient at lunch time for me, but I've been meaning to get there. Maybe this will spur me to try it today. I couldn't find their website, although I do remember seeing one at one time. Here's an article from the local newspaper and here is their listing in Zagat.
  16. I have Mexico One Plate at a Time and everything I have made out of it has been very good. One of my favorites.
  17. I stumbled across this site - HerdonCuisine.com yesterday. It sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but a few places that I haven't been to on here intrigured me a bit. I especially like the map of the world feature.
