  3. WE NOW HAVE WHOLE BOILED LOBSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $19 for a 1 1/4 pound, fresh from our tank to your plate lobster. We provide you with all the tools- bib, butter, pick and claw cracker. Jeff will be giving instructions on how to eat a whole lobster, while wearing his ultra slimming and sexy lobster suit We also have wonderful, bi kernel Eastern shore corn on the cob at $1.50 an ear There will be no chicken this Thursday.....why you may ask?????.....because we are a LOBSTER and CLam SHack and we need a week break from the BIRD ....or until another surrounding business goes under (BUBBY's) and we can expand our growing empire. My bloody Mary: THE CLAW, was written up in the Gazette as the Best Bloody Mary South of the Mason Dixon Line....The author deserves a James Beard award IMHO ......anyway, the article came out today and I was wondering why the hell I was making over 25 of them on a Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...and then someone gave me a copy of the review, thus explaining why suddenly, eveyone had a hankering for a Bloody Mary tonight. I serve this drink without pretense, a vest, a porkpie hat, a mustache or a history lesson.... I do however use Unicorn tears and Panda sperm in the making of the cocktail So come on in for a Claw and a whole Lobster, or beer, or clams, or anything fried, or just to swim in the lobster tank
  4. Can and CLams happy hour is everyday, 7 days a week from 4-7pm....it never went away, so I apologize if you heard or experienced anything contrary to that. You get a box of whole bellys with your choice of any can beer for $10.00. I also just added 6 new beers to the list...3 of them are cans
  5. Graffiato opened Thursday night....I'm floored that no one here hasn't written one word about it yet Seriously...have aliens invaded
  6. He is doing a renovation and waiting on his liquor license.....for why, I honestly don't know I never wish anyone ill in business, but it has been a chaotic ride for him, with uneven food , hours and just about everything. The space alone is pretty cursed and its not street level, requiring people, especially older clientele of Bethesda to walk up 9 steps....which many can't or wont simply do. I went over the other day for pickles..and he was out of them????????? Deli's are like Butcher shops...everybody wants one near them, but they never patronize them enough for the owner to stay in business. Then they exclaim frustration/sadness that the place closes, having only gone 3-4 times a year.....Also, a great deli isn't cheap..it cost $$$$$$ to get great meats and such, but few are willing to pay a fair price for the product and go to shitbox's like Subway, Quiznos's or Cozy's. Add a screwed up business plan and general dissarray to the mix and you've got a "FOR LEASE" sign back out front in 6 mos. Bubby's and Uptown are 2 deli's that opened within 4 months of each other, literally 600 ft apart. I wish them both well, but IMHO, bubby's will close within 6 months and Uptown might last a year.
  7. No....Ron runs the Pit Stop on Saturday and Sunday only....he is out there by 6am and first food is usually ready by 10:30...hbe usually runs out of ribs by 3-3:30 As for the other place on 50/Pleasant Valley..No they closed a while ago Go to Pit Stop...often...you'll never want for the mediocre crap in this area ever again
  8. Whoops.. Meant Cream of Crab...but I have had the She Crab soup last year. Not sure of Hours...but think they are 11-10. We just went Sunday for Fathers Day at 4;30 and it was packed
  9. I've decided to share what I believe to be the Best Crabs I've ever had in this area. My girlfriend and her family have been going here for quite some time and I was introduced to it last year for the first time. I've been back 4 times and must proclaim it "The Best" over anything on the shore or in the city. It's a small hole in the wall place, located in Howard County ( folks park their 18 wheelers in their spacious front or back yards) . There is seating inside and a nice patio out back. The service can be spotty, but the Crabs are cooked and seasoned perfectly. Also a fan of the thick and tasty Cream of Crab soup, steamed shrimp and the seasoned curly fries. It's about a 20 minute, leasurely back road drive from Olney/outer Silver Spring edge. Now we all know that eveyone's sizes are different...one places Jumbo are anothers Large, but we ordered a dozen Extra Large for $80. Worth every penny. So there you have it from me..The Best BBQ is The Pit Stop in ALdie, Va and the Best crabs are at CrossRoads in Dayton, MD. They do not have a website, the phone is usually answered and they do take reservations for the Patio only...but I also know that a reservation doesnt always equal a reservation CrossRoads Pub 4809 Ten Oaks Rd Dayton, Md 21036 410 531 7485 The Crossroads Pub is just west of Route 32 on Ten Oaks Road where it intersects Howard Road and Green Bridge Road. Exit Route 32 at Linden Church Road West, then turn right on Ten Oaks Road
  10. I'm not shy at all and please dont hold back......maybe thats why Bethesda is different for me than my 18 years working in DC
  11. ALso on THursday, we will be having a Sailor Jerry Rum Party Promotion going on.....Hula skirt clad girls serving my rum concoction from 7-9 for your drinking pleasure
  12. 13. DURING SLAW WEDNESDAY's AND CHICKEN THURSDAY...............NO VIDEO CAMERA DEVICES ARE ALLOWED... ANY PERSONS ATTEMPTING TO RECORD EVENTS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT TRANSPIRE WILL BE THROWN INTO THE LOBSTER TANK
  14. If we got an angry pirate and a talking parrot....would that be worth 10%??? Wednesdays are cabbage night....bring in your own head of cabbage and make slaw
  15. GF really surprised me with dinner at Trummers tonight for my birthday. She refused to tell me where we were going and just to drive...wasn't until I was on 123 and realized the only thing that way would be Clifton and Trummers...so was very happy, as its on my list of places to go. Thought we might be initially going to French Hound or Ashby Inn, but did'nt even consider Trummers. Arrived at 7;30 and was promply seated...then forgotten about for roughly 13 minutes. Finally approached by an apolegetic server who offered us water and menus. There were about 30 other guests in the dining room. Then , a gentleman approched the table dressed in a suit ( servers dressed in Jeans, White shirts and Vests...which I really like) and asks if we are ready to order. Turns out he is the Gm and Somm...There is only a $39 Prix Fixe on Sundays and they offer "bucket Wine" for $5 a glass...any and all open bottles from the night/day before for $5.00 a glass....so some very fun and good juice can be had if you desire. Ordered 2 cocktails, then our order in full plus a bottle of Orin Swift Prisoner $86 ( good Value) . Gf ordered Mussel Soup/Roasted Pork Loin/Cheese Plate...I ordered Escargot/Soft shell crab verbal special/Vanilla ice cream Complaints- Initail wait for any acknowledment and then after ordering cocktails they forgot about them and it took a total of 15 mins to get them. Other than those 2 time consuming snafus I loved the food and the place..reminds you of Napat..big, open, airy, great seats and tables. Girlfriend also said it would be a perfect place to have a wedding reception....I just kept eating my bread and water while waiting for the Lost Cocktails and mentioned that the world didnt end Another server told me that they are usually dead on Sundays with just a smattering of locals here and there, but they were swamped today and were running out of things....luckily we got some bread but then they ran out I would def go back and would like to...will probably take the motorcycle up that way next time and eat at Trummers again and also try the General Store in Clifton also. $200 for dinner before tip
  16. Went to Bayou Bakery today with the GF and the goal of trying a new place today for lunch/Brunch. Arrived around 2 pm and wasn't really aware of how things worked regarding seating/ ordering since there is a seating area with assorted table and booths. There was no one really present or around to direct us so we just grabbed a booth and sat for a bit looking over the place. Great space overall and comfortable, but music was a bit to loud for the time of day(primarily just one annoyingly loud song). Walked up to ordering area to ask the person behing counter how things worked. Basically its a Panera Bread type place in the sense that you order and pay for everything then wait till your name is called for your order. It's Sunday, so I was hoping for a casual, order as I go scenario and just try things randomly. Their order system does not allow this as you must pay for everything up front. Ok..thats their deal and I need to learn to accept it...but find it frustrating, especially since we wanted to start with Bloody Mary's and beignets, before we ordered anything else..but we ended up ordering all at once. Here is what we had: Bloody Marys- good body and flavor, rimmed with Cayenne pepper Beignets- 3 awesome mess of powdered sugar.....there is no way to eat without making a mess Deviled Eggs with a kick-3 pieces, good, needed more kick IMHO Jaymbalaya with shrimp and Andouille.....counter person said it was the last order and it tasted like it, especially since it was minus the shrinp and had 3 small peices of sausage..but tasty Biscuit with Benton Bacon, Turkey sausage, with egg and cheese.....Very Good!!!!! However, I was confused about what I was getting becuase its not clear that its made as a biscuit sandwich as opposed to individual plates/sides.....They were out of Gravy, which I find frustrating given its 2 pm on Sunday and I assume that is a popular item. Counterperson also stated they were out of 3 of the 6 sandwiches they offer. I understand the combo of buscuits and gravy, but did'nt connect that by ordering the previous items: buscuit, bacon, turkey sausage , egg and cheese that it would come as a sandwich rather than a plate of separate items....now I know, and I really enjoyed it, except egg is a 2X2 square of nuked egg for $0.50. All in all was a decent meal and I would go back, as I would like to try the sanwiches.
  17. My girlfriend and I went there in January while staying at a B&B nearby...we loved the food and talking to the owners. In fact, we would like to go back and eat at a few other places there. I bought some Waygu hotdogs and assorted meats from the Butcher next door and wished they weren't 45 mins away.
  18. I have been to both several times over the last 2 weeks......Uptown is the winning horse
