  1. The broiler still has one of the best thin crust/good grease ratio pizzas in town!!!!! been going there for 35 years. The Sausage sandwich is awesome...and the fries are frozen crinkley cut...but nothing is better than those salted hot fries out of the fryer and into your mouth. Sausage is an original homeade slightly spicy mixture...LOVE the Broiler Small pizza is round only and the large is the square
  2. Heading off to the Kenmore Inn in Fredericksburg, Va for the weekend....does anyone have an outstanding place they like for dinner and breakfast?????
  3. Actually, my friend and former chef at Dino and Enology- Johhny Neilsen is the chef The food should be pretty damn good and a cut above Spider Kelly's....I think it will give Eventide and the others a comparable run for the money. But they also will have a large patio area and the bar will appeal to all the little drinkers out there, so I think it will appeal to all the young drinkers and hopefully some foodies with what I knopw Johnny is capable of
  4. Must not have been that good a friend of the Chef if you had to pay that much I went to college with her and look forward to going there and trying it on a night off

  7. There have been some ongoing payment issues. The owner, Corrado Bonino returned from Italy just last week and has been working to rectify the situation and bring everyone current by this week. We have a great staff and product here at Galileo III and I wish nothing more than to maintain that.
  8. Did anyone seriously think this place could survive???????????????????? This seriously has to be one of the dumbest investments ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps next to a college...but whoever owned this or started it must be either mobbed up, in the sex slave trade or a terrorist cell laundering money If the owner is reading this....I would like to open an ICE store and would love the capital to open it...just think...we can call it "The Ice Store".....all types of ice...cubed, block, baged...pick your own...and Vintage Ice tray....we charge extra for that!!!!!!
  9. I went here saturday night and the place was empty at 11 pm they had opened on Monday. I ordered the basic combo...dog all the way, fries and drink.......staff was friendly and eager to learn and please...the food.....simply not memorable or worthwhile...The dog was a bit under cooked, minimal toppings and cold bun. I had hopes that it would really be a good hot dog, but I actually think any street cart dog beats this one hands down.....dont have any desire to return..EVER I will go to Windy City dogs in Leesburg,m next time I'm out that way...superb dogs.
  10. RIP Morty's Yes, it wasn't the best, and the service was horrible...but I always liked my Matzo soup and my Corned beef/Pastrami/ chicken liver sandwich. The pickles varied from good to really bad depending upon the batch...but still...I liked it for what it was and its location......deli's are like butcher shops...everybody wants one in there neighboorhood, but only go a few times a year, then wonder why the place closed The quality varied with the different owners and whether Morty or Mel was working...I shall miss it...but I guess another damn bank will open up in their place

  12. Great article...and a quote from Dean Gold....Don- You're on your way to a Trifecta
  13. Hello All, I've held my tongue at bit becuase I've been pretty busy as of late , but while I believe in an occasional healthy prop from the staff of a restaurant, I tend not to post about my own place too often...since we already have a few golden serial promoters out there However , I feel quite strongly about what I'm about to say and can now take a few moments and share with all. IMHO, New HEights is one of the best restaurants in the city.....it is, and has always been in my top 20, Yet it is also one of the most "elusive" restaurants when telling folks about it. People always say "oh, I've heard such great things" or "is that where its located?"...."I've been by there, just never been in" I had the pleasure of working there for a scant 7 weeks...not enought time to even register a blip in time..but New Heights has been there for 25 years!!!!!!!!!! That in and alone of itself is a feat that VERY FEW can lay claim to. Umbi Singh is one of the most gracious and laid back individuals that I've sincerely had the pleasure to work for as well as be on the recieving end of his restaurants hospitality. Kavita is another restaurant great that has the passion and honest desire to make sure that her guests are attended to in everyway possible. They are two owners that care about their diners experience and perform so many "stealth points of service" that the guests doesnt even notice the many silent procedures that make their dining experience. They do it becuase they love what they do and they don't remind people of it or boast and post And lets take a look at the real reason the restaurant has maintained its longevity...the food. A great array of Chefs have performed in that kitchen. From Alison Swope in the beginning to Logan Cox now. Logan is without a doubt, one of the best chefs in the city!!!! He is inventive, passionate, laid back and an amazingly nice guy. None of that really matters unless he can cook and produce..which he does with flying colors. If you doubt me or have never been to New Heights, I suggest that you make a reservation or just walk in and try the food. The food always speaks for itself and Logan hits the mark. I dont mean to stand on my soapbox but I feel strongly about this restaurant, its staff and its Chef. I had hoped to make a home there, but circumstances took me in a different direction and we must all do what is right and necessary for our livelihood. What does really burn me is the recent Washingtonian Up and coming chefs issue that really missed an opportunity by not mentioning Logan. No disrespect to anyone that was covered in that article, but the writers did themselves and the readers a diservice by not covering a true food genius. But again, I ask that you be the judge and go to New Heights if you haven't already been..and take some friends that have never been there with you. Break bread, drink wine, converse and eat great food. For those of you that don't know where its located....New Heights is on Calvert street...between Open City and Chipotle on Conn Ave...yes, thats the place in the middle, with the awning
  14. We will be offering a separate bar menu of about 10 items that will be available only at the bar...in addition, you may order every item a la carte with the exception of steak and fish off the prix fix menu ONLY at the bar for $15...the portion will be a bit smaller than the prix fix portion understandably
  15. I also have to say that it was a pleasure to meet Miami Danny tonight...half the fun of meeting people at the bar is trying to figure out if any of them are on this site and if their handle fits them
  16. I live on the course at Pincrest, just a stones throw from these places and I still haven't tried any of them Partially because I am totally confused regarding some posts of people I feel are quite well versed in the Korean food arena and exactly becuase the one time I did try one of the...the seafood was SUB PAR I'm still willing though
  17. You know, I have always wondered about that place everytime that I pass it on my way to play Whiskey Creek Golf course...and my thoughts were that it either could be a gem or a craphole...no in between. And know I have my answer without the lost $$$$$$$$ Thanks for the heads up
  18. Cocktails are finished and we will be opening to the public Monday evening!!! Hope to see you all there
  19. Stephan...one of the many former chefs at Dino has a food truck called "EL FLORIDIAN" and he makes on the the finest Cuban sandwiches that I've ever had!!!!!!!! His soups are quite exceptional also....he does have a twitter and facebook account so you can find out where he will be during the day... The only other cunban sandwich that I love is at The Caboose Deli in Del Ray...AMAZING!!!!
  20. RIP ALLIANCE TAVERN........Just wanted to let you know that I closed Alliance Tavern for good on Friday night There will be a new sports bar reopening in its ashes in about 4-5 weeks, but I will let the new owner talk about that when he is ready. I have taken over the bar at New Heights as of yesterday and hope to see many of your familiar faces in the future
