  2. Seeking fun, energetic and common sensed people to work as servers and in the kitchen. If you want to make great $$$$, work in a fun, fast paced, casual environment, then I'd like to talk with you. If you're addicted to your mobile phone, like to drink while you work, or can't follow simple orders, then please don't apply. Also if you don't bring a pen to the interview, then ths isn't for you. I would love to meet with those of you who take pride in themselves and want to make good money. Please email chris@freddylobster.com and I look forward to meeting you.
  3. Sorry you had a mixed bag experience...... our rolls should contain 4 oz of that yummy lobster, yes we have oil, and i will have the kitchen staff reacquainted with what a hazelnut looks like by having them count them one by one each morning If you didn't already mention these issues with my manager on duty, please let me know the next time you're in so that I can make it right and give you the proper Freddy's experience
  4. I have to say that while I was never a fan of the Gtown location, I have been to the Bethesda one several times. Their Quidnet ( italian hoagie) is IMHO one of the best sandwiches in the area....shaming Taylors and rivaled only by my other favorite The Italian Store.
  5. GF and I went here today as it was a toss up between Tacqaria Poblano or PB BBQ....unfortunatley we chose Pork Barrel It wasn't the worst like the BCS Shack of Tomaine poisoning and constant regurgigitation, but it wasn't the best like Pit Stop ....it just makes me never want to go anywhere else but Gilberts Corner for great BBQ......Yes I am biased about the Pit Stop because it is 1 guy churning out the best BBQ in the area without anything but love, passion and simple goodness. The place is decorated nicely and really appears smaller inside compared to the mammoth looking exterior. We encountered no problems as we sat at the bar at 3:00 PM and could order anything we needed from the bartender. We ordered a Shiner and a Love to start. GF ordered ribs only to be told that they were out and someone didnt do their due diligence and plan for ribs on a holiday Monday ....When you only have 4 meat items on your menu, please make sure you plan accordingly. So we ordered a pulled pork sandwich, beef brisket sandwich, 1 smoked sausage link, mac and cheese, collard greens, and potatoe salad as sides. The brisket was smoky, tender and quite good. The pulled pork was really bland...just there and a bit undercooked. Bread stood up well to the meat and sauce. 3 sauces are available: Mustard, Original, and Sweet....mustard is a bit runny and needs to be a bit thicker for my tastes. The original sauce is fairly good, but again, nothing made me want to dip or drown everything in sauce. Some sauces make yiu want to try everything with them Sides were mediocre at best, with collards being the worst....no need for that smoke flavoring added or all that damn vinegar..just make the darn things simple with bacon or fatback please. Mac and cheese was just too gloppy with cheese and diced jalapenos in there. The smoked sausage was also a bit under cooked and just not satisfying IMHO....I took 2 bites and left the rest. All in all, I felt a bit frustrated at being full with food that didnt do anything for me or make me want to come back. I did notice that they had slabs of ribs {uncooked I think) moving from their MAMMOTH kitchen to the smoker area up front....hopefully someone at 7pm might be able to taste them. I think they tried to do the best they could with the space but I think they have so much wasted space in the kitchen and second bar which seems to be unused right now. Its a great sized bar and very comfortable but the self help drink trough takes another 4-5 possible tables out of the equation. I felt compelled to leave 4 or 5 made up specialty cocktails written down on a piece of paper gratis for them..as the current drink menu has no vision whatsoever..and that is sad becuase I think this could be a fun, better place...but for now I am quite happy to drive to Aldie, Va for my BBQ needs beacause it is the only place worth my time and money.
  6. Went to dinner here last Monday night and thought that they did a great job. Took the GF here, as every Monday we try to go to a new restaurant that we havent been to before. It is a small, intimate restaurant, with a 4 seat bar right at the entrance that I would never want to sit at becuase it is right in the doorway...while im sure it has its regulars, it would drive me nuts to sit there and deal with people coming and going all the time. If you dont like being seated very close to others while you dine, this is not the place for you. They do the best to maximize the space that they have...I'm not detracting from the place in any way...just saying its tight. We ordered a bottle of Cotes Du Rhone-$30, escargot, onion soup and mussels to start...then had filet of Branzino and Coq au Vin, followed by a Macaroon stuffed with Nutella Total was $126 plus tip I have to say that everything was quite good and there were no glitches or uncleaned plates. Service was friendly and spot on...Anne was our server/manager/hostess..and she rocked. This place will become a regular rotation for us and I cannot recommend enough.

  14. I stopped by this place about 3 weeks ago and bought several different because I have been curious about this place ever since starting to work in Bethesda. I bought a pork sandwich, a couple of ribs, the brisket and several sides. The Pork sandwich and the brisket were both burnt strands of what might have been meat at some point in their previous life. The ribs were not much better. The sides of mac and cheese, red beans and rice, and potatoe salad were just as miserable I felt violated and robbed, but you win some and lose some. This shack is BAD. And do not even look at the prep area this guy uses to store and prepare his food...it is the most disgusting and dirty thing I have seen. I thought it was just a junk room until I looked further one day when buying some produce at the other vendor. It's a good thing NIH is across the street

  16. Those cameras were not put there at the request of the Secret Service...........they were put there by the owners and had feeds to their home computers and Italy.
  17. A round of golf at Pebble Beach is $500....I've played there and I would not trade that for any meal in any restaurant anywhere. If you're late 30 minutes and don't call....you deserve to be charged...double and flogged for being a douche I hate cell phones in restaurants and at the table...sadly they are too common and people must have them.....but if I want to take a picture of my food that I'm paying for...I have that right and I will take a picture if i so desire with no reprocussions......FYI..I don't take pics of food, but I decide, not the restaurant...its only food people This is a special occasion restaurant and I fully support their right to protect their reservations and business model....if you want to go and agree to sign the contract, then dont complain if you didnt read the small print or want to change the rules.
  18. So I don't know if I'm late to the party on this one but was flipping through channels last night and came upon this show that is hosted by Jamie........He travels all over the country talking about meat and cooking with folks. Very cool chef...congrats
  19. Gf and I went last night for the first time before working our way up my old stomping grounds to see Captain America. At 7pm on a Monday night, it was pretty full and fairly loud...big space and seemed like a mix of Hill peeps and tourists. Bar was empty except for 2 people. We were seated and then kinda just took it all in for a while, watching people, reading the menu boards, drink list and out cards. After about 5 mins a "server" came over to take our drink order and partly explain how to get food. We ordered drinks and then about 4 minutes later another "server" came by to greet us and take our already placed drink order that evidently never made it in communication between the 2 servers Anyway....we reordered and then decided to get the Deal for 2 for $49 consisting of Chicken, 2 pork ribs, 2 beef ribs and brisket with 2 16oz sides. I went and stood in the cafeteria style ordering line waiting to order from the meat guys....was looking at all the different offerings and still trying to figure out the sides and other possibilities. Reception from meat guys is what I would expect from an assembly line cast of characters that are in Zombie/worker bee mode....I get there myself from time to time..but try to snap out of it Anyway meat was wrapped and given to me, where I then got a side of pickles, mac and cheese and bourbon mashed sweet pototoes. The green beans with onions looked really good, but I opted for a small collard greens instead. Then with food on tray, grabbed some plates and silverware...which was spotted as can be Returned to my table whereby we proceeded to try our bounty. It was a lot of food to be honest and while the chicken was tasty, we really didnt do more than try a few bites. Brisket was good, as were the pork and beef ribs. Sides were underwhelming. Our "server" was 1 of about 3 roaming girls that basically arent around often to check on you. Gf went to bar to get another beer as did I for another Margarita. The card thing is what it is and the asking of the fredit card for drinks is plain annoying at a table. Yes I get that anyone or a group of 75 could basically walk out of the superdome cafeteria of BBQ, but I find it annoying that they are so quick to authorize the card before they care about getting you drinks. And lets be honest about servers..you basically serve yourself the food and they clean up the tables and maybe get you a drink. This really causes a tipping dilemma for me because I'm basically serving myself. Our bill was $98.00 special and 2 beers and 2 margs which ironically were presented on a NON ITEMIZED bill...just the amount with no breakdown?????? Thats really odd. Summary: Glad we tried it and crossed it off the large list of places we wanted to try. Would I go back??....yes, more for carry out or if I was dying for BBQ and couldnt get to THe PIT STOP But really have no desire to go to a massive WalMart type BBQ place...I wish it were smaller and less faux...but it is DC and trying to give you that yee haw down home feeling.... Yet I would rather go to a real barn with just great BBQ and coolers full of soda and beer and really serve myself
