  1. That's the way I interpeted it.
  2. It opens at 11:45. If you get there much past noon, the line is long and it is hard to find a place to sit outside. The DR.com protocol is to get there as soon after 11:45 as you can make it. Right, Nadya?
  3. Thanks for the link, Rocks. I now have a new signature.
  4. This thread raises a larger question: what is the story on all of those restaurants on 23rd Street, west of Rt. 1. I used to get some pretty unusual pizza from Tutto Italiano. Are any of those other places any good (but not necessarily in the "great" category)? It sounds like we at least have a candidate for the "ventworm nut sucking" bin.
  5. I think what Don is trying to say, albeit ineloquently (and the manner of its expression leads me to believe that he is running low on his medication again), is that while there are many restaurants in Crystal City, none of them rise to the level of "great." I think Don's thesis has a basis in fact. Places such as Legal Seafood, McCormick and Schmick's, Oyamel, Ruth's Chris, etc, are all good, but I would not count them as "great."
  6. I'm gald to hear that things got better after I ileft on Friday evening. Admittedly, the food service in the bar area is subpar, but we had a new employee. I thought the duck-mushorrm quesadillas were really good. The pork belly was OK. The steak was fine, I just thought all the stuff they put on it overshadowed the flavor of the beef. I should have known better than to order a steak at a place like 21P because I've been spoiled by Ray's the Steaks. Their wine by the glass program seems pretty good. The duck mishap happened when they forgot to input mdt's duck order. When it finally came out, mdt was long gone. I'd be interested in hearing how Babka's roommate like it.
  7. [Hey Rocks, there is a list of who's coming to the picnic and what they are bringing on page 6 of this thread. And several of us are going to 21P after work to check it out]
  8. Do a google search for either tube worm or vent worm. That should give you an inspiration amperage boost.
  9. Here is a link to the menu at 21P. We'd love to see some new faces. Don't be shy, we don't bite anything except food.
  10. bkeith: Welcome to DR.com. If you bring the ice cream and the freezer, I'd be happy to take my turn on the crank.
  11. He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones.
  12. I thought it would be kind of cool to crank up a batch of ice cream at the picnic. The only trouble is that you need to cure the ice cream for a couple hours and thus it might take too long.
  13. Softshell crabs are on the bistro menu at R. Eve. Sauteed with ramps, spring garlic and a hazelnut-tangerine vinaigrette.
  14. I think you are right. So for what these folks spent at Le Paradou, they could have had dinner for 2 twice at Eve and still had $200 left over.
  15. I think it would be real hard to spend $500 on dinner for 2 at Eve.
  16. It sounds like if I want sausage, I'll have to bring my grill again.
  17. I'd be happy to donate one of my cans of Flora D.O.P San Marzanos.
  18. Personally, I'd rather do 21P. I've seen very few reviews of the place and I'd sort of like to save Marcel's for later.
