  1. I also went to the competing Korean cart today due to a 20 person line at the yellow Korean cart. I prefer the yellow cart. The rice at the yellow cart was much better, as was the kimchi. I think the meat was basically a wash, and the portions were roughly even.
  2. Agreed, Jimmy T's generally doesn't get particularly busy until around 11:30 or noon.
  3. Should have included that to begin with. I started with the short rib terrine and had the steak while my wife had the salad du Parc and the 24-hour pork. Everything was cooked beautifully.
  4. My wife and I ate at Cafe du Parc on Friday night and had a generally good experience. In short, the food was very good, and the service was extremely friendly, though there were a number of problems. What you might expect from a restaurant feeling their way through things upon first opening (though worse than what we experienced at Central when it first opened). I would definitely return, and I'm glad to see a top-notch restaurant in that space in the Willard.
  5. My wife and I joined two friends at Central last night. There are definitely some service kinks to be ironed out, but our food was top notch. We didn't have a reservation and were initially told that it would be around a 45 minute wait, and that we could not eat in the bar. Not a problem, we grabbed some wine, and sat in the bar, and stared at several four-tops open in front of us for the next hour. The space is beautiful, by the way. After about an hour or so we were seated at one of the open tables we'd been staring at. I oredered the hanger steak, which was fantastic, my wife ordered the lobster burger, which was ok, and our friends had the short ribs and the fried chicken. Both of their dishes were very good. In addition we oredered a number of sides, the polenta, the mac and cheese, the cherry tomato gratin and the creamed spinach. The sides were all delicious, if very rich. My steak was extremely well prepared, and all of us enjoyed our food very much. Really our only complaint was on service. There was serious lag time before our order was taken, then before our food was delivered, and again at the end before our check was delivered. I see tremendous potential, and am anxious to return, but there's some definite work still to be done.
  6. My preference is Bistro Italiano on 3rd and D, NE. They might deliver out to you depending on where you are.
  7. My wife and I had dinner last night at Montmartre, the first time with the new winter menu. As always, we had a wonderful experience. The dining room was slammed, but we happily ate at the bar. We had the Bruschetta special and the Ravioles as appetizers and the Beef Cheeks and the Venison loin for our main courses. The Ravioles and the Venison were the highlights. Great food and great service. Highly recommend it.
  8. Some friends and I ate at the Full Kee in Chinatown last night as it was late (around 11:30) and we had a hankering for some Chinese food. As always, I had a great meal there. Atmosphere was nonexistant, but our food was fantastic. We started off with some congee and some dumplings. Their congee is delicious, and dirt cheap. If I worked closer to their I'd fire that up for lunch regularly. For our main courses a couple of folks went with more "normal" Chinese dishes, Kung Pao Chicken and Orange Beef, while our other two dishes were Baby Clams with Pork and the Pig Skin with Duck Blood. The two Americanized Chinese dishes were very good, but the other two were amazing, particularly the clams. Anyhow, not much of a review, but just wanted to throw that out there. This is obviously not a fine dining establishment, but it is very good Chinese food.
  9. My wife and I ate at the bar at CityZen on Wednesday night and had one of the best meals we've eaten in DC. And the bar menu, as has been reported elsewhere on this site, is one of the best fine dining deals in the city. $45 for a three course meal, and the food is exactly what you'd get in the regular restaurant. These were the available menu items on Wednesday: Appetizers BROILED BOSTON MACKEREL Braised Belgian Endive, Ruby Red Grapefruit and Sunchoke Crisps CITYZEN TARTIFLETTE Yukon Gold Potato Millefeuille, Warm Brillat Savarin Rabbit Confit and Sherry Vinaigrette PURÉE OF PATH VALLEY FARMS SAVOY CABBAGE SOUP with a Lobster Custard, Fennel-Lobster Mushroom Duxelles and Lobster Infused Oil Entrees SHALLOW POACHED FILET OF ATLANTIC FLUKE Lancaster County Baby Spinach, Heirloom Potatoes, Maine Sea Urchin and Meyer Lemon Sauce PAN ROASTED SADDLE OF ELYSIAN FIELDS FARM LAMB Hand Cut Tagliatelle, Curry Scented Lamb Ragôut, Shaved Fennel and Raisin Salad Desserts CITYZEN ALMOND JOY Amaretto di Saronno Cake with Valrhona Chocolate Ganache and Almond Butter Sauce ASSORTED ARTISANAL CHEESES FROM OUR TROLLEY We were the only two eating at the bar, and for most of our meal had the entire bar to ourselves. We received great service from Scott, our bartender, and overall enjoyed our experience. I highly recommend it.
