Oh, I didn’t make an avocado roll yet, not sure yet if it’s good for him to eat at school. But perhaps it would spoil less in a small airtight container?

Lunch is just the kid, dinner can vary from 2-4 adults as family is very close by. Additionally, there are different dietary restrictions and spice levels to consider. My current cooking falls into two categories, Indian family recipes and go-to dishes from the past ten years. Frankly, adding the kid's lunch meals probably accelerated the feeling of needing to learn some new recipes or even another ethnic cuisine, like 'real' Italian, just for a change of pace. NolaCaine, guess we're kind of in the same boat. My son is 4 1/2 and some of the more adventurous things I would like to prepare for him are limited by safety concerns, or eating cold food. My standard procedure is to try something out at dinner time and then work it into his lunch. Still, it feels like another year or two and a majority of these concerns will be over. He does like eating avocado rolls, but have been resisting going full bento box parenting! 😀

I need to learn to make some new stuff! It's hard making school lunches and then to make a different dinner a couple of weeknights.

We visited NYC last weekend for our annual trek and stopped by a new places, one being the Heatonist at Chelsea Market. As a fan of the Youtube series, Hot Ones, it was fun to try a couple of the lower hot sauces at the counter. Heatonist 75 Ninth Ave, Chelsea Market - Lower Level, New York, NY 10011 (718) 599-0838

A Chat with Andy Hayler, the World's Foremost Fine-Dining Expert

Thank you for the informative talk. Sorry that I couldn't participate while it was ongoing but the questions and answers were very engaging. There really is a diversity to Indian cuisine which is unknown in the western world. In previous posts, my argument has been that things don't really travel outside of the area and I think that is especially true for Indian cuisine. -

There is that element of the DC dining scene, where the power brokers frequent, restaurants have to bear the cost of association. It's a funny little dance, I guess in LA it is the same for Hollywood and in NYC for all stripes of celebrities, too.

My wife made some pesto pasta for our son's dinner tonight, while I finished the leftover curry chicken and rice. Oh, she also made a grape tomato balsamic vinaigrette side dish. Trying to decide if I should go the ice cream route for dessert or just finish the last Petit Pot Riz Au Lait?

We only ate at the Counter once, though have been meaning to go since they got the Impossible Burger. Tried the Beyond burger at home and was pleasantly surprised.- 255 replies

BGR and the Counter seem like the same place! As a side, stopped by the Bike Lane's new home and enjoyed some of their beer and desserts.- 255 replies

We've enjoyed the risotto balls (regular) over the past few years with our son mainly at the Mosaic location. The sandwiches have been hit or miss. Over expansion and bad financials does seem like it will shut down many places that do have the appearance of being successful.

Glad to hear they are adopting new strategies for handling openings in their evenings. Rose's has always been a high volume/high quality restaurant so being at full capacity is to their benefit.

That doesn't make me feel bad about still not setting up the water leak sensor for the past year! But had started the smart home process with some light switches and recessed led lighting last weekend. Think will slowly start adding some smart home features this fall.

Ayrshire farm chicken breast with spice rub cut into small pieces with Annie's organic honey mustard as a dipping sauce. Grape-seed oil sautéed spinach with sea salt. And Enlightened birthday cake bar for dessert. An overabundance of the honey mustard so that he could use his fork with the chicken pieces. Of course this was our dinner, too!
-
Currently, my son's snack food are cheerios, too. My wife read the recent reports on Roundup being found in cheerios, so started getting organic brands at Mom's.

My son also likes anything pickled.. Amazing how many he will eat, currently likes the Talk of O' Texas mild ones. These days things are being made in the toaster oven and would say it's just good healthy food! Salmon cooked in grapeseed oil and finished with Maldon Salt on a store bought slider bun with some honey mustard. Again baby broccoli with EVOO in the toaster oven which is left over from dinner. Pretty quick! 😊
-
Since the 1st day of school went well today, we asked our son where he wanted dinner and Chipotle it was. However, his lunch box included a salmon slider with honey mustard, back berries, baby broccoli and pickled okra. I'm trying to restrain myself from falling down into the Bento box hole as preparing one small little meal satisfies a lot of obsessive cooking issues!
