  1. Has anyone tried the new Lounge Menu? Any recommendations? Some of the new additions looks great....I'm especially curious about the oxtail tots and dauphine bars. I'm thinking of heading there tonight before an event. Hopefully the bar/lounge won't be too packed for Restaurant Week. Looking forward to checking out some of the newer items.
  2. As others have said Taberna in unfortunatly notorious for being a RW disappointment. I think you should give it another shot though during regular service. I recommend checking out their delicious and very affordable tapas happy hour. In my opinion this is one of their strong points and you will really get the Spanish flavor from their wines and tapas (I personally am a little obsessed with their croquettes). During happy hour the sangria and tapas are half off.
  3. What is the price like? I like Oya but find the special deal they are always running (something like $30 for 3-courses) is usually the best value.
  4. That's too bad. I had a great time talking to Bill during my last meal there during Inauguration Weekend. Maybe he's thinking of opening his own place...seems a little odd.
  5. Really? Do you know why? Are the happy hour drink deals gone as well? That stinks! It was one of the best deals in town with delicious food. I'll still return since it's one of my favorite bars/restaurants but I liked getting it on the cheap a lot more.
  6. Amen!!! What an amazing day for America and the world.
  7. I'm hoping that was just because it was a Monday. This is a favorite spot in town for me....for both their lounge menu but also a regular meal as well. I have found the staff one of the friendliest and most helpful in DC. 2 times that I've dined there, including once during Restaurant Week, the manager has stopped by to say hello and chat. They are classy while still being inventive with the food. My boyfriend has never been so I'm looking forward to the meal we will be having this coming weekend. Emails from 2 different managers informed me that they will be releasing a new menu this week. Looking forward to checking that out.
  8. Hi Duncan. I'll be stopping by soon. Hope you guys can either circulate a sample menu or post one on your website soon. I'll be interested to see what you will be serving.
  9. I imagine they will be adjusting the size of their dishes for a 7-course menu. When I went with my friend we had a wonderful time but were stuffed by the end. We each ordered a slider and a cheese course then against our better judgement we both separately ordered the dessert tasting menu which was 3-4courses. Small but not that small. I'm not 100% sure what our final bill was but all that food plus 2 drinks for her and 1 drink for me came to roughly $125 for the whole meal. Personally I would try to get a menu from them before committing to anything--but that's just me. And in terms of the wine/champagne: I think one of the best things about CoCo Sala is their mixed drinks. So I would even possibly take the free champagne then try some of their fun drinks. They might even make a drink to go along with each course, they are quite creative there. This actually seems like a fun place for New Years. The food is really good and they are sure to have a dj or something going on, so after you finish your meal you can just more over to the bar for the rest of the night's festivities.
  10. Any clue what type of restaurant this is? Is it a legit French cafe? For some reason I thought that space was a coffee, sandwich etc type shop above the sketchy pizza/sub shop. But maybe I'm thinking of the wrong location.
  11. Has anyone tried PS7's new Happy Hour menu? I am heading there tonight before going to see Annie Leibovitz speak (!!!) and was wondering about the flat breads, a new addition to the menu since the last time I was there. In particular the duck one looked good. Thoughts??
  12. I work a few buildings down from the Barrack's Row location and have been greatly anticipating your arrival! Welcome to the neighborhood. I can't wait until you start serving lunch, since I usually try to high-tail it out of the area once 5:30pm hits.
  13. I went to CoCo Sala with a friend and we both got 2 savory appetizers (a slider each and a cheese dish). We then went on to get a chocolate/dessert tasting menu. This was an insane amount of food....delicious..but A LOT! We should have probably shared 1 dessert tasting menu but we wanted to try a bunch of stuff and we were there for a celebration. That being said...everything was really delicious---even the savory items.
  14. This is my neighborhood sushi restaurant and I really love it. The service is always friendly and the prices are affordable. Next time you go you have to try the Sakana Tempura Roll. It's amazing! My bf introduced it to me on one of our first dates and I've passed the joy on to many of my friends. Delicious!!
