  1. This is spot on. Sushi and burgs are a great combo and Sushi Ko has a great list.
  2. Hey DW- I was at Charlie Palmer for dinner on Wednesday for a little celebration and it was off the hook. Veal Sweatbreads were fantastic as well as the shell steak. I had a side of the hen of the woods and while they were good I prefer the Chanterelles. Nadine Brown is a wonderful Somm. and a great host. Great service as well. Oh and yeah I think we drank some wine too.
  3. Last time I was there I had the Duck Confit followed by the Pork Belly followed by a trip to my doctor for a BP check. It was worth it though.
  4. I've had the same pair of Dansko professionals for 5 years and they still rock.
  5. Billy at the new Clydes at the MCI center. He was at Boulevard Woodgrill but is now day bar at Clydes.
  6. Raisa, You have a beautiful bottle of whisky on your hands. Money aside Springbank is a very limited release whisky and worth every penny. Enjoy it is a marvelous scotch.
  7. Can you tell us what you normally drink for red wine? That might help with suggestions.
  8. I'm headed back to Komi Friday for my second appearance there. I'm really excited.
  9. The Wine Rack is going to be expanding shortly so you may have better luck getting in.
  10. I watched a fantastic show on Comcast HD In Demand over the weekend on the history of Champagne. It was interesting to learn that the great depression and Russia's political unrest were really at the core of creating small house champagne when local growers couldn't get big producers to either buy grapes or for that matter get a fair price for the grapes. Its a good show check it out if you can.
  11. ouch... what do you think they will do with that fish tank?
  12. Thanks for the write up. I'm a huge fan of Iota myself and have had many great meals there, notably a braised lamb shank, and a lobster rissotto that were stellar.
  13. I second this recommendation...amazing cheese course and presented with knowledge and structure as well instead of ploping a bunch of cheese in front of you and have at it...
  14. When it's nasty out I truely enjoy a couple Makers Mark Manhattans and the meatloaf at Boulevard Woodgrill. or a Leaning Tower of Pica sandwich from Pica Delli.
  15. give it a half hour opened and you'll be happy you did.
  16. I recently hosted a wine dinner with all sorts of high end pinot noir and cabernet but someone brought a bottle of 2003 Capcanes Mas Donis and it really sang! a blend of old vine syrah and granacha really fantastic structure, with a great mineral quality the blended very well with the brambly fruit. the best part wine library has this for 9.99/bottle and parker (I'm not much of a point grub) gave it a 92. I'm buying.....lots.
  17. I thougth Duvall sold the place to his chef? Maybe I'm wrong. I've always enjoyed the rail stop, glad to here you had a good meal there.
  18. I feel an intervention coming on...... Thanks for the review I've been meaning to stop by this place since it opened to see what's up.
  19. That's ridiculous! I've paid upwards of $19/lb at Whole Paycheck
  20. oh I forgot to mention the celeb sightings at Bistro Bis. Two tables down was Pat Buchanan and on the way in I saw the newly out of work Tucker Carlson (sans bowtie.)
  21. Bistro Bis was on point again last night. The Black lentil soup with squab breast and smoked bacon was the perfect fall dish to tuck into along with a great bottle of Burgundy. The Lamb was perfectly cooked even if the pumpkin gnocci could have used a bit let time in the water. Finally the cheese course is still my favorite in the city for uniqueness, quality and quanity. STELLAR.
  22. Next time. I was out bike riding on the delplane grade rd and others when i decided that there would be nothing better than a ayeshire NY Strip, some organic fingerlings and some organic kale for dinner. the Home Farm just so happened to have it all!!!
