  1. I think the chorizo dogs are really good. And there is nothing wrong with the sausage dogs in my opinion.
  2. I think that we should all go to a National's game and do a tasting of the various dogs and beers offered at the Bobby. Tickets are only 7 clams for the nosebleeds.
  3. another one that hardly ever comes up is Bistro Bis. This is the best restaurant within a few blocks of my office on the Hill. My experience has always been good, with wonderful salads and yummy desserts. Others?
  4. As bad as you all say this joint has become, I still believe that they have the best french fries anywhere. They are all creamy inside and crunchy on the outside. Hot as hell. THE BEST, I think. But my man Roger is right about the Georgetown location. I almost lost my mind there with the wait and the filth.
  5. I am in for Ceiba on Monday and Sushi-Ko on Friday. The thing about RW for me is that I almost always spend more than I would had I just ordered off the menu. I am always adding on stuff like fancy-pants cocktails and wine and ordering the one thing on the RW menu that has an additional cost. I think this time I am going to check out the special menu but order what I really want for a change.
  6. What about Oya? Is there a thread on this place? I just had lunch there this afternoon and I feel a little mixed about the joint.
  7. Thanks for being here this week, Tom. I read your column and your chat religiously. However, I am not sure that I really know who you are. Therefore please answer the following questions. Answer them correctly and I will never question your recommendations. Ever. What is your favorite book? What is your favorite movie? What/who is your favorite band/recording artist? If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live? What is your favorite ice cream flavor? What is your favorite tv show? What was your favorite class in school?
  8. New Heights in Woodley Park seems to never come up at all. I have never eaten there, but the place is always packed and I don't think it is just with tourists from the local hotels. It looks like a lovely place and I am also told that the old chef has gone on to grander things here in the City. What is the haps with this place?
  9. Or Rays the Steaks... I have to say that I did feel personally attacked simply because of my opinion on a restaurant where I clearly said I loved the food, but did not enjoy the atmosphere. I love that the "Chef" responded directly to me about my experience at Colorado Kitchen, but what was not cool was the personal attack I had from other people on this board that seemed to believe I was criticizing the restaurant simply for fun. I am not a professional writer/critic on food. And I don't think that anyone else here is either. I am just a regular chick that likes to go out to eat from time to time. I think that there is no value, NO VALUE, in criticizing a poster for saying somthing negative about a joint when you adore it. A lot of people here would kill for the food at Firefly... Me: Not a fan. So I would urge everyone to "easy does" just a bit when making personal attacks. This includes chefs at restaurants as well.
  10. Ditto. We pretty much had the back room to ourselves on a Wednesday night and the staff was completely accomodating and gracious. I had a second thought about a place that I go to every time I am there (which is about 3 times a year): I adore the sushi place that is at Bellagio facing the fountains. I just wish that I could remember the damned name of the joint.... Also, I love the bar at Gallaghers at NY NY. They make the best Long Island Ice Tea that I have ever had in my life.
  11. I adored Bradley Ogden's. I know you are planning on Mesa which is also in Caesars, but if you have the money to blow you really should not miss this place. I second the Paris breakfast buffet. best anywhere. edited 4 spellling
  12. well I have never had any complaints, nor have any of my friends that have dined with me. The food has always been wonderful and unlike many other places in this town, they actually treat you the same as any customer even though you may be ordering off the restaurant week menu.
  13. DC Coast has always been good. They usually open up the whole menu with a add on for the tea smoked lobster.
  14. This place has to happen soon because we are in dire need of a coffe-house-type place in our neighborhood. What will make it different than Tryst is what I want to know. Is there going to be a bar there?
  15. So I took you all up on your suggestions and we went to the Ugly Mug on Saturday afternoon. What this place is lacking in decor is more than made up for in good service, fabulous mini-burgers, tasty pizza, and wonderful meatball subs. The guys were happy with the 25 choices of beers on tap. There is not much really out of the ordinary offered but there is some great standards to order. we then shared the miniburgers and as they were at matchbox, perfectly done. My dad and I shared the Maryland White Pizza that had huge chunks of crab meat and some big pieces of artichokes on the top. My man had the meatball sub and he said that was tasty as well. After the Ugly Mug, we went to Finn McCools down the street. Notwithstanding the idiotic name, the place is very warm, beautifally decorated and they have some great beers on tap. Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions! Go Nads
  16. What the hell IS water ice? This former Midwesterner has never heard of such a thing. Is it like a snow cone or something?
  17. Was not criticizing that policy at all. re-read my posts and you will see that. I was merely pointing out the anger that some patrons felt when they had to wait forever. I WAS complaining about the rushed feeling that I have when I have brunch there. That's all. and this is not part of a "campaign" to disparage her joint.
  18. Hold it there, Chef. I am by no means trying to paint the two of you as scrooges nor did I say anything "horrible" about your place. re-read it and you will see that I am a loyal customer and I had planned to come back asap. *edited to take out something rude that I thought better of writing
  19. I have only been to your place at brunch and as I said earlier I really have been meaning to come out to your place for dinner sometime. I have looked at the menus and everything sounds wonderful. I have never had a problem getting a seat as a two-some. That is because I am usually wating with the rest of the throng at the door before you open up. That way I know that I will not have to wait all day to get a seat. I was by no means complaing about the seating policy. I was merely reporting back to everyone a scene I witnessed while dining there about 2 months ago. AS to my critique of feeling uncomfortable, I think that comes from a feeling of being very rushed. I felt like I had a limited amount of time to scarf down my food, pay the bill, and vacate my seat for the next person. But I will take you up on the suggestion for dinner some night soon.
  20. They also have a monte cristo at the Dubliner, here on the Hill. That is if you can't find a Bennigans in the Tri-State area
  21. I hear you. And there were tons of people waiting to get in, but only couples- no four-somes. As for the non-relaxed thing, I am glad that you have never felt that way, but I have to say that I think the small space and the need to turn over as many tables as possible so they can make money always makes me feel rushed. But that said, I will go back because the food is that good
  22. I have been to the CK about 5 times for brunch on the weekends, but have never made it there for dinner. I would like to try it. The last time my man and I were there, two seperate arguments happened among the patrons when the host would not seat a party of two in a four top that had remained vacant for about 20 minutes. Eventually the 2 couples left, all kinds of pissed off, and 2 couples in line decided to just eat together at the four top so they did not have to wait another 1/2 hour to be seated. I have to say that the chef was not happy that she has to come out of the kitchen to deal with the unhappy people, and she must have said something to them that did not sit well with them because they sure left in a huff. I always feel a little uncomfortable in CK, and if it were not for the greatness of the doughnuts and the eggs benedict I am not sure that I would ever go back. I always feel slightly unwelcome and as if I have to be on my best behavior. I never feel relaxed, you know?
  23. Thanks, Tweaked. I will let you know how it is on a Saturday afternoon. Do they have outdoor seating there, BTW? Jennifer
  24. Ugly mug is a brilliant idea. I love it. We may have a winner
