  1. These are good, but keep them coming.... We have gone to the Chop House before Caps games when he is in town and I know he digs. But is RFD any better these days? I ate there once and it was not that great
  2. So my dad is coming into town this weekend and on Saturday we are going to a ball game to support the 1st place(!) Washington Nationals. When he comes to town we try and keep it low-key, going out for burgers, steaks or spicy thai food. Where should we go on Saturday afternoon for moderately priced food? Extra points for a place that had great beers on tap. The place does not have to be near or on the way to RFK, but near a metro line would be good. It must be in the District, however so no Arlington recs, please! He is fairly adventureous for an Ohioan, but will not enjoy sushi. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Jennifer
  3. Sounds like the Fado chain, that at one time was owned by Diageo the parent company of Guinness. They too would bring an "authentic" Irish pub to your neighborhood. There is one in Chinatown here in DC. My man loves it, but I have had better.
  4. I am going to have to try this place again. The last time I went was during restaurant week and it was not that great. The choices that you were limited to must not have been representative of the rest of the menu. I have a reservation for the minibar later next month and I can't wait to see how much it has changed in a year.
  5. The wings with the habenero and peach salsa are among the best that I have ever ever ever ever had in my life. They have them at Tuskies as well.
  6. I think spices is wonderful. I love their soft shell crab dishes the best. And bilrus, you are right, that ginger salad is to die for. My man and I got there quite often, especially when we are stuck for a place to go out to eat at the spur of the moment and we don't want to break the bank. Speaking of Yanu, I saw on my way to work this morning that there is construction going on there. What is going in that joint anyway?
  7. I love me some softshell crab sushi. I think that is the best way to eat it.
  8. Those five guys with some grilled onions and some relish on top with a huge bag of fries is the best on a sunday after trying one on the night before at the Raven or some other similar dump. But I just had a wonderful burger at Charlie Palmers for lunch the other day. The bread was soft and the meat....ooooh the meat. it was on the rare side (which is the best way in my opinion) and with some really sharp cheese on the top. good god that was a treat
  9. I gotta agree. This place is the best in DC
