  1. Lacey's Milk Chocolate Macadamia Cookies are the greatest thing ever ingested from TJs. Try especially if you are a heath bar fan. http://www.sugarplum...ce-cookies.html edit : "cookies"
  2. Has it been touched upon that people are only aware of Chick-fil-A's stance because of their public outcries? Look at how much free publicity they are getting. Everyone that you speak to can relate gay marriage and Chick-fil-A. There are a lot more people out there that couldn't give two shits about a corporation's stance when their stomachs are grumbling on the highway. With all this free publicity, I can't see this hurting more than it is helping. But that's just like my opinion, man. I bring this up because I regularly frequent corporations whose stance on this topic I am unaware of. What if Target, Amazon, Ebay, Google, Yahoo etc. had the same stance, but you didn't know it? Shouldn't it be your moral perogative to find this out before logging into your Gmail account next time? If you are to boycott one company, why not boycott them all? (Edit: Maybe I didn't pick good examples, with Dot Com boomers being very progressive compnaies and all, yes, I am sure you would be right to doubt that Google has a problem with same-sex marriage.)
  3. Back ribs v. short ribs. http://www.amazingribs.com/recipes/beef/zen_of_beef_ribs.html
  4. Short ribs? That's not the first thing that comes to mind when we talk about smoking ribs. I've had mixed results from short ribs in my smoker. Anyways, Eastern Market or Wagshals should serve you well. They also sell short ribs at Whole Foods.
  5. You have been blocked from following this account at the request of the user. Thanks a lot Don.
  6. Had a lights-out meal here Friday night. The wait system is fantastic. I'll rehash it from above. They let you know approx. how long your wait will be, then take your cell # and text you a personal link which you load a webapp to see how many parties are in front of you. It updates periodically so you can get a sense of how fast things are going. We waited about 45 minutes at 8pm on a Friday night. Spent the time down the street at Screw Top sitting outside while we monitored our progress. This is a really great system considering their bar area is sort of small (loud, hot etc.). Highlights from our meal were the blood cake, crspy fried pig ear taco, smoked duck cavatelli, mac and cheese (very smoky). Wife had the rockfish, the corn and succotash were really excellent. I had the trout with charred tomato quinoa. Really strange for me to order light and healthy at a place like this, but the apps and sides we got were very rich (and delicious!) so I decided to stay light. This was really great, awesome crsipyness on the trout skin. Two large (for trout) fillets over a pile of quinoa with other briased veggies. Really nice dish. The other couple shared the Pork Shank, Belly, Grits and Greens for two. We tried the belly which had fabulouis skin on it, and the shank meat was fall off the bone tender. Tons of polenta and greens. They loved this dish. The dining room is a great space. We loved the open kitchen and the wall paper had us talking. Can't wait to return. This is definitely one of the better meals we have had recently. (No complaints on seasoning btw )
  7. We blew a transformer in Del Ray. It was only our block. What luck! I guess lightening does strike twice.
  8. Thanks. Website site says reservations for 6 or more. Not a bad policy I guess. I don't mind getting a drink and waiting a 1/2 hour on a Friday night.
  9. Very cool ! Can anyone comment on wearing shorts here on a Friday night? Seems to be fairly casual? I could be wrong, that's just an inference. Also wait time on a Friday night for 4 people around 8pm? Asking for trouble? Thanks !
  10. I don't know the "law" in D.C. but there are almost always signs posted in lots like these saying Auto Zone Parking only, all others will be towed, or the like. I would assume that if you had seen a sign like this you would have known better than to park there. Whether these need to be posted to be towed or not, is the quesiton.
  11. Sounds like your kids should stick with Ovaltine.
  12. You can grind your own nut butters at Whole Foods Old Town. So they most definitely have raw shelled peanuts.
  13. I had this on my campus at Northeastern in Boston from 2001-2006. It was called "The Wrap" for most of college years then the last couple years they rebranded/were bought out/etc and renamed to Boloco. I always have great memories of this place, very fresh ingredients and different enough from Chipotle to make a difference. They have different wraps than the traditional mexican fare, inculding chicken cesar wraps (white or dark meat), buffalo chicken, asian style, as well as carnitas, and other meats that Chipotle doesn't offer. Very fresh and delicious. (Even though I didn't name a meat that Chipotle doesn't offer, just believe me.)
  14. It is impressive. I agree. I never thought that thing would really power anything much more than giving you some juice to send an emergency text or phone call. Or maybe some Angry Birds during one of those power CRAPs. I do LOVE the technology though. Super cool. Imagine how powerful it would be if I dried all of my dogs turds and saved them for later? I could live for DAYS on that alone, plus steralize water.
