  1. After a mixed bag of meals in the last 10 years at Galileo, Bebo, Labratorio, Barolo, and Il Radiccihio, coupled with getting shafted by the wine importer, Il Cuoco, I'll take a pass. Good luck though.
  2. My first, and only meal, was uniformly excellent. My service was efficient. I just decided never to go back because I couldn't afford a bottle of wine.
  3. It took about 10 trips there befor they started giving me anything from that menu. I literally told the owner, give me anything you want, I will pay full price and will not complain. I've had some spectacular meals here.
  4. Congratulations Mark.....cannot wait to hear about part deux
  5. Yes, the subs are great. Only they are outdone by the $2.50 pints of Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA at the Seafood Counter. You have to order food, but 2 drafts and a nice Scallop entree for less than $20 is a steal.
  6. Is that fish sustainable? If so, for how long? 5 minutes? 10? More?
  7. Great review....and the glassware makes this priceless. Can't wait to go (when I make a Chinese friend).
  8. The economy has not hurt Villa Mozart one bit. My wife and I tried to pop-in at 6:15 on Saturday evening and were told the restaurant was completely booked, despite only 2 of the 20+ tables I saw actually filled. I understand that just because they are empty doesn't mean they haven't been spoken for, but the inability to seat a deuce at 6:15 in an otherwise empty restaurant tells me either they (a) have more business then they could possibly want, or (b ) need a little lesson in reservation yielding and table management.
  9. Ummm.....I believe he was merely a fluffer. Big difference.
  10. White Hall Petit Verdot can be delicious and found for about $15
  11. The Italian Sausage stand is in front of the Home Depot, Fairfax. It's pretty tasty.
  12. The poignant moment where Hosea called his father, who is battling cancer, was made oh so much more memorable by the tight shot of the Sidekick that he was speaking into during the entire conversation. If he had wept, I am sure we would have seen the tissue slowly pulled from the Kleenex box in glorious high definition. Terrible.
  13. Do you buy anything.....and I do mean ANYTHING, used in the restaurant form SYSCO? Or US Foodservice. Even a skewer. I just saw a post in another thread that someone was shocked to see a SYSCO truck at a fine restaurant and I thought, maybe even CityZen buys bleach, foil, et al. from th evil empire?
  14. Posted twice for unknown reason.
  15. This is not new to DC. Zaytinya has had a huge communal table for the past 6 years. Buck's fishing and camping, 3+. There are numerous others but I am hungover and can't think too quickly right now. Whteher people like it or not is a different story. If I am paying more than $15 for an entree, I want my own table.
  16. I used to manage a restaurant that was surrounded by fields, pastures, and woods. There was literally acres of space. When we expanded our occupancy due to construction of a closed patio, Baltimore County forced us to pave a field to create 12 more parking spaces.
  17. I certainly love drinking, but is this really necessary? Aren't the police going to be busy enough? And is there really a demand to turn this into Mardi Gras? I could understand the night of the 20th, but four days seems ridiculous.
  18. Most leases don't expire on a Sunday mid-month. Methinks they are trying to put "lipstick" on the proverbial "pig".
