  1. I suppose I notice it more because I am more of a beer guy and the Belgians and such that they have are just silly expensive there. I also find the price point to be a notch above above Jackson 20 and Vermilion generally. The starters at Vermilion range from $6-14 with the average being about $10-11, for instance, which is less than Brabo's cheapest starter.
  2. More kudos for Brabo in general. There are some holes in the menu, but overall the food is quite solid. It is striking that in Sietsema's review he seemed to spend more time talking about the decor and the chairs than the food. *cough* Further, he didn't even mention what I consider to be the finest dish on the menu. Oh, pork shank, how I love thee... Only thing I do NOT like about the place? It is at a significantly higher price point than just about anything else in Old Town with the possible exception of Eve - and you may actually end up spending more at Brabo than at the Eve Bistro due to the just silly markup on the alcohol there. Some of the beers are marked up 350%+ over retail. Things started pricey there then they actually RAISED THEIR PRICES as the economy took a downturn. I believe the apps now range from $12-18 and the entrees from $25-40 or so.
  3. Have to head up to Towson University for a thing Saturday and am desperately searching for something in the general vicinity of good food. I actually resorted to Yelp. It does not look promising. Alas I probably have to get to the site and deal with some stuff THEN go eat THEN come back so anything further away than 10-15 minutes is probably out. Anyone have any good ideas?
  4. There is beer at the other Hell Burger as well. Just sayin'. I have eaten here a couple of times and do enjoy the extra comfort factor. I haven't tried the Hanoi Style Wild Boar (top of my list) but actually found the venison rather flat. While it had a nice char and was very good on the first few bites, it eventually came off as rather dry and one note. The Chestnut didn't really seem to add much to it, either. Alas, I had such high hopes.
  5. I have to add another round of kudos about the staff. I am currently sitting at the bar and have been drowning in graciousness since I walked in the door.
  6. Honestly, I find I only enjoy the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale about once every 2 or 3 years. They "tweak" that recipe every year - sometimes when it really doesn't need it. (Although I should be glad they keep tweaking it so that they re-tweak after the years they tweak it in a bad way.) This year is one of the better examples, but not, in my opinion, the best (which would have been perhaps three or four years ago? I dunno, there was beer involved....) The only two others that have stood out to me in the big pumpkin beer mosh pit are the Schlafly (mentioned above) and the Southern Tier Pumking Ale.
  7. I can state authoritatively from multiple experiences that they do not.
  8. Rick's on Duke St in Alexandria say they will on Thursday.
  9. You mean I can finally dump all those Emeril books my parents have been giving me every damned Christmas on somebody else?
  10. Ate at the Dupont location for the first time last night. The service was as friendly and charming as the Georgetown location and the beer selection, while not as large, was still of sterling quality with some true rare gems (Wine barrel aged Smoke from the Oak Ahhhhhhhhhh......) The pizza however - not so much. The crust on both the calzone and atomica we got were excessively dry and quite bland. Quite a few steps down from what I usually get at the Georgetown location. Disappointing.
  11. Hard to go wrong there period. Yelp reviews - ugh. Lowest common denominator does not for a good review site make. Anyplace that gives an Outback Steakhouse as high a rating as Ray's the Steaks is outs in my mind.
  12. I would probably say at least by 5:45-6:00 if you can. By 6:30 the place starts getting a bit standing-room only. By 8:00 you have to muscle your way through to the bathroom.
  13. I am the king of inconsistency - wife is now back in (if there's room)
  14. Wow. Just wow. I have driven past this place over and over and never even gave it a look, but finally (thank the food gods for this board) stopped in today for a quick lunch. The space is trippy, but I quite enjoyed it. I really dug the communal do-it-yourself vibe as well. Had the weekend special pizza - white pizza with gorgonzola, brie, tart cherries and thinly sliced red onion. Interesting flavors, but perhaps could have used a bit more cherry and a bit less onion - it is still living with me a couple of hours later. The crust itself, though, was very, very good. A nice yeasty doughy taste with delightful chew and (the one thing I have been missing at Orso so far) wonderful char flavor. Finished off with a coconut gelato (YUM) but also sampled the Peroni beer gelato. Yes, you read that right.
  15. Yeah I have liked each of them so far. I think they will all benefit from sitting for a bit, though - I have been lucky enough to grab 3 or 4 bottles of each and be able to sample them then set a couple aside to age.
  16. Me alone without +1 - that is my final answer #1(or I guess #3 if you're being nit-picky.)
  17. Well I guess I know where I'm eating for the next month at least (while I can.)
  18. Is this only at the Arlington location or does it cover RTC and East River as well?
  19. Well crap - turns out the SO has a job that night and I have a "maybe" job. Looks like we are down from +2 to +1/2.
  20. I like pizza. I think I like you people. That sounds like a possible win. +2 for us (me and ktmightve)
