  1. I've been lucky to have tasted the famous 1967 several times.
  2. I love good Sauternes. I have been lucky enough to taste the greatest Sauternes from the best vintages. Sauternes early in a multi-course meal ruins the palate for the following wines, IMO.
  3. Nope. The classic pairing is Sauternes with cold terrine of goose foie gras (foie d'oie). Seared foie gras pairs much better with dry Alsatian Riesling.
  4. OpenTable has great flexibility in the table inventory, the pacing (how many covers it will allow in a certain time period) and party size.
  5. No, my least favorite thing is thinking Sauternes automatically goes with any preparation of foie gras.
  6. Richard Strauss had the same problem, but his music is so much better.
  7. Keep your eyes peeled for a bottle of Bionic Frog from Cayuse. It's the hardest Walla Walla wine to score a bottle of.
  8. Fun article about Olive Garden on eater.com says the one thing you can't get at Olive Garden is........olives.
  9. When the second amendment was written, guns held exactly one bullet. How is there equivalency with machine guns?
  10. It looks like a nice restaurant. Business casual is normal in France. Jeans and T shirts are a mostly American thing.
  11. Hey, AA, hi! Your next stop should be Eden Center in Arlington, VA.
  12. I waited on him several times. He was always very pleasant. He has always been on TV since I moved here in 1977. You would never know it from TV, but he was very tall.
  13. White Sulphur Springs Tom Sietsema reviewed the Greenbrier a few months ago in the Washington Post.
  14. Old Europe here in DC is a fun time warp kind of restaurant. The food is decent. If you like German wine, the list is extensive and VERY CHEAP. They have a generous sausage plate. I always get a schnitzel. It's also very moderately priced.
  15. Not a very flattering review. $700 meals aren't supposed to go that way.
