  1. Tots for Tots. What's the problem? And having kids do all the housework and cooking is a time tested tradition too!
  2. Dean & DeLuca and Georgetown Bagelry across the street. Still open last weekend.
  3. Don't eat tater tots under the influence of hallucinogens. Don't ask me how I know. Trust me on this one.
  4. I would like to have some white grapefruits shipped to my son in Mass. Does anyone have any suggestions for shippers that they have used or from whom they have taken delivery with good results? I'm thinking Indian River might be the way to go but most of their shippers seem to specialize in red fruit.
  5. Grrrr. Yes pay and call the restaurant. This is probably not the first time this has happened.
  6. Waitman, voulez vous wash les plates avec moi, cest soir? Washing by hand has its benefits when done as a pas de deux but on a daily basis I think I prefer the dishwasher. The one stuck in the wall connected to the sink. Oh bloody hell, you know what I mean. Don't you?
  7. A client has chosen this restaurant for a group dinner that my firm will host (10-30 person). Any advice is appreciated.
  8. Waitman and I will be heading south of the border for a work-related boondoggle in a couple weeks and I'm curious if any of you folk have any sage eating advice. We will fly into Cancun, rent a car and leave immediately for the jungle to the west. We will be staying 2 nights outside of Valladolid at a small retreat in a Mayan village near Ek Balam. I think we'll eat one meal there and the others are up for grabs. Once we hit Playa del Carmen, we are staying at the Fairmount Mayakoba megagringoplex but are willing to cab or bus to interesting vittles for breakfast or lunch (unfortunately all dinners are on the reservation). Any must eat Yucatan or Mayan food/vendors/restaurants?
  9. I enjoyed a bite a Full Kee last time I served.
  10. I rather like that column although I can never pull any of them together that fast. The banana fish soup recipe is a real keeper.
  11. I fear that I don't offer enough gratitude for the fine things that people do to open up new doors and introduce me to new things and new people here at dr.com. Thank you so much Don, RJ, EZ , Doug, Dimitri, all the staff at Vidalia, HV and MKTYE for making this event such a treat. You are all such very wonderful and caring and passionate people and I consider myself lucky to have your light shine upon me. For Legant and other raw meat naysayers (though I liked it cooked too): Try them, try them They are so good, so good, you see! So I will eat them in a box. And I will eat them with a fox. And I will eat them in a house. And I will eat them with a mouse. And I will eat them here and there. Say! I will eat them ANYWHERE! I do so like good kobe beefs! Thank you! Thank you, Now I must sleepfs! PS Thanks for the ride Heather and for the slutty wine Hmmboy and for the good company at the table all you other people. I look forward to the toro. PPS aplologies to Dr. S
  12. One set has a roller and 2 cutters for angle hair and fettucine. I found that these gave up the ghost pretty quickly. I don't know if I failed to clean them throughly (suprise) or what. The roller also eventually failed. But I loved it while it worked. There are other attachments for ravioli and I think tubular pasta but I've no personal experience with them.
  13. I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there. Thanks for setting this up Don. I'm really excited about your meat conduit. heh.
  14. Zorba's on Dupont Circle. I believe they have a private area, their apps are more than satisfactory, might keep our beloved vegan/veggie cousins happy and I would hope that you could work out a beer/wine deal. And when people use up your company's rather minimal stipend they would be close enough to a metro to find their own fun and will have a full stomach. Unless they were expecting steak instead of lamb.
  15. I made the chicken pot pie with turnips and herbed crust from epicurious.com last week which was quite tasty. You could streamline the recipe quite a bit and it's a no brainer. Streamling might include substituting frozen veggies and crust, canned broth etc. The creamy bechamel was quite nice. The recipe called for quite a bit of thyme but I think it worked nicely and wouldn't cut back.
  16. Turkey! Oh wait, it's not going to be on my table. Nevermind. Cassoulet will be though .
  17. Google lamb bacon. "Sounds" interesting.
