  1. Hey thanks for clarifying. Maybe the menu is slanted too far one way or the other. My point was, nobody was twisting your arm to order what you did. In situations like that we often order a couple of things, try them, and decide if any reorders are needed or move on or call it a day.
  2. That's a hoot. Of course I could. That said, accommodations for the disabled currently do not affect me, so it is of no immediate concern to me personally. And I am free to speculate whenever I feel like, thanks.
  3. Hell no. Oh hell no. OH.HELL.NO. I do not care how good the food is. No. It will be interesting to see when the first lawsuit citing the Americans with Disabilities Act hits the courts, too.
  4. One of the, to me, more obscure bands - Abigail Williams This is an interesting favorite. I did not expect to like it Around listen #20...it.....clicked.
  5. Ummm....you can read a menu and decide what is not acceptable to you an what is, right? Granted, not understanding the ordering window was not ideal, but still.
  6. Everyone is welcome to talk, chat and stay awhile. Nobody is right and nobody is wrong. It is all about the discussion and earning about each other. We learn so and so like Gin. And whatsahozits loves sweeetbreads. If you disagree, be elaxed and acepting - we are all human, real and different. Learn to accept each other for who we are.
  7. It really is great. It is a great tool to open some eyes as well.
  8. I accidentally discovered these gents probably around 1981. Scottish Folk music. I was deeply seated in Progressive Rock at the time and this was...a puzzlement, but....infectious. With my wife and I soon off on our 25th wedding anniversary trip to Scotland (and, nay it canna be, 30 years together!) I cannot not put tihs out there. Silly Wizard:
  9. Not sure there is a thread and I am terribly lazy this evening...so forgive me. 'The Wine Lover's Cookbook' is one of my most frequently used cookbooks - and for good reason. I love wine, I love food ,and both the recipes and the recommendations are quite good. It would not be a mistake to buy this or take this out of the library to peruse a bit. I have several favorites, ut I have not had a dud in the bunch.
  10. This is Mathilde, Or Hilde (hill-dee) for short. She is The Captain of the Guard, Gus's main enforcer (and the only one he enforces upon). She's the smallest, lightest cat, but the one with the most attitude, spunk, fearlessness and more. Life if far more entertaining, fearsome and awesome with her doing her thing.
  11. This just makes me shake my head. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/sainsburys-faces-backlash-over-touchfree-meat-packaging-for-millennials-a3814551.html
  12. To my big brother, Heiko. His memorial service was 9 years ago today.
  13. There is/was one in Columbia MD in the late 90s, pretty sure it was there at least a few years ago still. Enjoyed their Sporkie pie a number of times, but mostly as carryout - why? Noise, kids/babies, the beginning of my intolerance for waiting for a table, Columbia (lol).
  14. Ummm, not super excited about that, uh, list. I am excited about returning to a few places I have tried once and need to go back (Bresca, Hazel, Tiger Fork), and want to return to some where it's been to long (Kinship, Komi), and then have some fun looking for new to me places for the first try, and of course circling back regularly to Mirabelle.
  15. First bolded item - I have not read everything about the suit but was not aware she was one of the investors. Interesting. That said, is there a difference between sexually harassing an employee versus sexually harassing an investor (and employee/co-worker?)? Nope. Especially given the ever growing body of evidence. 2nd and 3rd bolded items - We make judgements about things and people all the time. We get to boycott who we want to for whatever reason we want to. Society has ways of dealing with this legally in the courts from civil suits to criminal litigation. These are the legal remedies. Just because there is a legal remedy, well, it does not mean we all agree with the outcome of said legal remedy and we get to vote with our thoughts, communications and especially our dollars. That last bit is up to each one of up to decide what is the type of response we want to give or take. You may disagree and consider the society legal/suit route sufficient. Others may have different opinions and perspectives.
  16. I might try it as an experiment - there is a pizza dough recipe I am aware of that takes 4 to 5 days to be ready - most of the time is in the refrigerator. Rye breads, my favorite of all breads, generally take a week or more to prepare the starter (unless you have the patience to keep one around in perpetuity, like many chefs and home bread bakers do) - but very little day to day work - just feeding it.
  17. Weeknights I take shortcuts simply by dicing the potatoes smaller and roasting them. Weekends are when I indulge in cooking-nerdiness and am willing to take my time. I don't have a microwave at home - Have not had one since the fall of 2005 when we gutted and redid our kitchen. I do not miss it one bit. Granted, I do use a microwave at work to heat up leftovers (which, if I do leftovers at home (an extreme rarity, save soups generally), I do it in the oven or cooktop depending on the dish).
