  1. Lunch is at 11:30-1:30, Supper starts at 3:00-5:00, dinner 5:00-9:00. Snacks are anytime you are eating in between meals? And breakfast is just the meal you eat to break your evening fast. I guess maybe that's why you can have Breakfast all day long! 🤪
  2. I had the last of the pasta salad, a few turkey meatballs, some quinoa chips and a baby bell for lunch. Oh, and also, one of the banana, chocolate cookies.
  3. I wanted to use the last of the bananas, and I am trying not to stress eat, but also allowing myself to not necessarily be totally Weight Watchers strict for my sanity/fridge/freezer/penty's sake. So I made another batch of these cookies: https://food52.com/recipes/80855-banana-bread-chocolate-chunk-cookies I think this is a really good recipe. The cookies turn out a bit cakey, which I really like.
  4. Tonight is ground turkey enchiladas, made in casserole form so that I could utilize some smaller broken taco tortillas, with some cut up roasted peppers and onions I roasted earlier, and green enchilada sauce from the Frontera Grill line. Served with refried beans, I mixed with some cheese and maybe some guacamole, and hot sauce.
  5. Today was a whole wheat chicken burrito with pinto beans, cheese, salsa and some roasted veggies. Diet Coke- although I probably should ration these.
  6. I will likely post this on my Facebook and Insta too- I have lived a lot of my life trying really hard not to waste food. I am pretty good with looking at odd ingredients and making up fun meals. My family all would place bets on me for Chopped, and likes to challenge me sometimes. I am also really good at looking at a fridge, freezer and pantry pictures and knowing what you should eat when. So, my gift to anyone who went to the store and has an odd assortment of stuff- if you need ideas- Tell me what you got, I will tell you what to make. Or post a picture of your fridge/freezer/pantry and I will help you out with ideas. I feel like people on this sight might not need this as much as my friends/family, but still. Here is your topic to post in! And anyone else who wants to help out with ideas- the more the merrier!
  7. Don't forget Mount Vernon, they are getting hit hard as this was their peak season! They have a good virtual reality tour, and Hubby is getting more digital content up that will be on the YouTube channel and Live streams. If you need a diversion, I think the lamb cams are up! They have some funny Washington around DC YouTube shorts. AND I think they have lesson plans you can download too!
  8. Well the Virginia court's system was a real mess. Every jurisdiction had different rules for different courts on what is going on, as of right now they finally issued an order from the Virginia Supreme Court. Only a few jurisdictions allow online filing for certain courts, none of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts up here have online filing, so this is going to be the wild west. We have a lot of Wills, Trust and Estates matters we are working on to get done quickly 🥺. My Mom went home to her house in Garrett County last week, prepared to hunker down. It was really hard not to hug her or touch her, but I tried to keep a safe distance and clean, clean, clean home. She isn't going to be with others or in public for a while just to be safe due to her age, so we will try to do video chats and etc. We went to Richmond to take food and some extra supplies we had on hand to our BIL, SIL and new baby, but we weren't out and about galavanting, we just went down to help them and came home. I am so grateful they had friends that thought about them while they were in the hospital and picked them up packs of diapers and formula, people have been just leaving meals and texting them. I appreciate everyone who has been so kind to them. We ordered sushi to go as my SIL was really craving it. I was a little shocked to hear that the restaurant was still packed when Hubby went to pick it up. I do fear that because younger people (I say younger, there were an appalling amount of not younger people at the Starbucks we drove through to get coffee on our trip) aren't getting many symptoms, they aren't taking this very seriously. I have been trying to take this very seriously, I saw how my co-workers and loved ones dealt with the flu strain that wasn't covered by most of the flu shots, it wasn't optimal. My poor renter, he has to travel for very important government work, and got home last Friday after the stores were pretty much empty. I am sure we have enough, so have told him, whatever he needs, we have it and will share, not to panic if the stores were empty. Hubby has been ordered to work from home. My office had to be somewhat operational because of the courts, but we are really being careful, most the attorneys are working from home, there are only a couple here at a time to make sure we function, and we are doing phone and video consults. We are very spaced out at the office, luckily, and are disinfecting like mad. All of our staff is over 50. Thank goodness we have a spacious office, most of our attorneys already worked from home a fair amount and we're very spaced out anyway. I don't think it's good for people to be excessively worried or panicked, BUT I also think people need to think about the effect their actions have on the lives and safety of others, I don't think we are doing either particularly well at the moment. All I can say is- stay safe, try to keep others safe in all that you do, and be as kind as you can in a safe way.
  9. I assume the death counts have a lot to do with the average population age, as well as, care available?
  10. London broil with Adam's steak seasoning and a little worchestishire on the grill. Zucchini tossed with olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic on the grill, as well. And some pasta salad.
  11. Grub Hub won't let me order form Hunan Gate, it is too far out of our delivery radius. It makes me sad. I miss my handmade noodle with meat sauce, mapo tofu and cumin lamb.
  12. Last night was the last of the leftovers sliders with steamed broccoli. We had a cup and half or so of broccoli that wouldn't fit in the pan, salami and gouda from a cheese plate, so I made broccoli salad (this is one of my favorites) with broccoli, red onion, sunflower seeds, cheese, salami, the last of the blue cheese dressing mixed with a little mayo and a little apple cider vinegar. I used the last of the chicken fajita chicken and peppers and made a pasta salad, added riced cauliflower, chickpeas, an extra roasted red peppers, olives, tossed in the last of the salami and the last of the gruyere. So now we will eat other leftover this week... But hoping some of this will be eaten as lunches (the broccoli salad certainly will be, I could eat a whole large bowl of this) And I made banana bread chocolate chunk cookies from a Food52 recipe that are just stellar.
  13. We have been eating a lot of leftover from the kitchen. Last week was leftover stuffed shells, chicken fajitas, rice bowls with the leftover chicken fajita fixings. I cooked in the instant pot some chicken with some garlic butter, and shredded it, and made slider sandwiches Friday night for a party with chicken, pesto, roasted red pepper, artichoke and mozzarella, then brushed it with garlic butter/oil mixed with a little Worcestershire, basil and oregano and baked until it got brown and melty. We have been eating the leftovers of those. Hubby that night had some guys over, so we also have been eating leftover Monterey's Pizza.
  14. Not sure which Margarita you get- mine always come in a normal size rocks/normal small drinking glass! I will have to branch out. But I will admit to order at other Tex-Mex places those giant corona-ritas on occassion.
  15. So... I don't know why, but I just don't like the Del Ray location- at all. I don't think the food is as good and it is too small inside to really enjoy the experience. Just my unpopular opinion. I need to try the Columbia Pike location a few times. We had to be in Arlington the other day, so went back to our old stomping grounds of the Lee Harrison location- and we got crispy tacos and a margarita. It was just soo much better than the same version in Del Ray. Maybe it's because the kitchen is so much smaller, or a difference in the chefs. Not sure, and I thought maybe I was just crazy, but Hubby also shares this opinion.
  16. Got Thai Square delivery the other evening. Why I didn't get the crispy duck, not sure, I ended up stealing a bunch of Hubby's order of it. They give you a very large portion. I got the Lard Nai, I didn't think it travelled very well, despite them putting the soup and noodles in different containers. It was fine, but I will just order different next time accounting for this, because at the restaurant the noodles in this dish are stellar, but they just didn't hold up well on delivery. The duck did.
  17. I go here a lot for work lunch. I often get the two roll combo and a side of edamame. I also like the sushi lunch. It isn't go out of your way for, but it is a nicely priced option, with nice people near my home/office. We ordered delivery the other night, and I don't think the delivery is as good as Momo. I also was disappointed because the online app doesn't let you cross order from the dinner and sushi menu, which is odd because the dinner menu has the sushi combo items on it, and etc.
  18. Went here on Sunday. I was going to splurge and get a chicken yeero with fries. Unfortunately, Hubby ordered beef/lamb yeero and chicken souvlaki. Not that either of those are bad, they just aren't the sheer perfection of their chicken yeero. I took the beef/lamb, which is good, it isn't bad at all. And was still a good sandwich (not as good as Plaka though if comparing actual beef/lamb). But it didn't fulfill my jonesing for the chicken yeero. I am not sure how Hubby hasn't figured out that the chicken yeero is by far and away the best menu item. He screwed up my take out salad last time and got chicken souvlaki on that too.
  19. I went to a big event in Fairfax this past weekend. It was REALLY interesting to see how people did. Some people were fist bumping, some waving without offering a hand. Some people were still shaking hands, and some still hugging. But it was funny to see people gauge their level of worry and level of acquaintance in such fashion. The attendance was certainly down from a normal year, still a big event, but... I feel bad for people like my SIL with a depressed immune system, and other SIL who literally just had a baby. They are running up against shortages of things like hand sanitizer, rationing at Costco, etc. They are people who have a lot more reason to worry. My one SIL won't have to worry about an unstocked freezer luckily! I do think people though have so much more in their pantry that they just don't use, and waste so much food in general, that having to cook down some pantry reserves might end up teaching them a thing or two. When we were moving and I cooked down my pantry and freezer, we had a ton of meals. Maybe a bit interesting in pairings, I did a lot of searching on pinterest with several ingredients to see what they came up with. But my Mom says I live like I survived the great depression- I really am not cool with food waste. I don't think it is bad per se to prepare for a disaster, especially having some non-perishables, being smart about medication refills, etc. But I think there is also a whole lot of unneccessary paranoia right now in odd ways that are affecting people/business who really need the supplies. And I think Americans aren't good at also knowing how to preserve food so that the food they buy doesn't get wasted when the disaster doesn't happen or happens at a later time then they foresaw. Or knowing how to buy and cook the right types of food for that type of preparedness. I foresee people having huge amounts of unused hand santiizer and rice for the next year. I think we have forgotten a lot of things that our past generations learned during the depression/war effort that would help in times of emergency and otherwise.
  20. Last night I made spinach stuffed shells. I see no point in only boiling part of a box- I am much more likely to thaw a whole pre-made dish than to go through making them again. So I boiled the whole box, and stuffed and then topped with sauce and froze a tray for my SIL and one for us. We ate the rest. Very tasty. I have actually never made stuffed shells before, but will definitely make them again.
  21. Well last night, I made wild boar shoulder roast in the instant pot with hoisin, soy, garlic and ginger. I should have had it cook more, it was a pretty tough cut of meat, but I managed to shred it and it was fine in the sauce, but definitely could have been better if I had cooked it longer and maybe added a little bit of shaoxing wine to break it down even more. I also made shishito peppers. We had some leftover jasmine rice, and seaweed salad, so we had rice bowls with all the above. Friday night I made garlic, parsley rice with sausage and peppers. Right now my freezer is pretty full for the stocking I am doing for my SIL, and then I have some odd ball things I need to use... I feel like it is a bit disjointed, but it will all come together.
  22. I really like their cuban black beans, and they seem to have something in them that also makes them a bit easier to digest than some others, not sure what. I am addicted to these.
  23. I love his shows too, and was going to make this!!!! Thanks for the modified recipe. I don't have a spice grinder- I have thought about buying one they aren't expensive- but I normally just use mortar and pestle, I assume that would work?
  24. Ohhh and frozen waffles, made mini toaster waffles.
