  1. I think you went on a bad night. When I went service was very good. I have also always had good experiences at other NRG spots, and their Snallygaster festival. You should give them another try.
  2. I think the price argument is a bit overblown at this point as well. Prices at Owen's and Crown are as good as most similar places in DC. As far as selection goes, recently I went to my favorite DC beer store and was looking for some new Sierra Nevada IPAs that I knew were available in Montgomery County. They weren't in stock yet in DC. Again as stated in my previous post I am against county control, but I think the situation is drastically better than it has been.
  3. It seems like businesses are starting to figure out the DLC, at least with beer (I have no idea about the rest of the segment). Don't get me wrong, I think reform is needed, but just look at what Owen's Ordinary and Downtown Crown Beer and Wine have going on.
  4. Well, as I read the article more deeply, I guess it was around for about a year and a half. I still never had the opportunity to try it. When I am there to grab a bite, I tend towards Cava or the kabob place.
  5. Although a discussion was never started on this place, I guess its demise will be reported by my post. There is another dining casualty at Montgomery Mall new "dining deck" (credit, Bethesda Magazine). It was not around long enough for me to give it a try. Pizza looked good enough though. The sit down dining area never looked full to me.
  6. Agree, probably the best beer selection in Montgomery County. The burger is really really good. Also tried the crispy shrimp sliders, which are highly recommended. This is a good addition to the area. I hope they do well.
  7. Parking in Bethesda will not be getting any better--per Bethesda Magazine, also, I envision restaurants being busier, which is probably a good thing (for the restaurants!)
  8. I just came along to this thread and despite all of the commentary, I wanted to say that this place was a good restaurant, the owners were nice and always present, and above all put out a good fresh product. I used to eat here before I knew about this board. They catered my wife's 30th birthday party. We used to eat dinner and had lunch there. It really is a shame that they didn't make it, mostly because they were truly nice people and the food was good. Much has been written here about the Kentlands and the failure of the retail portion. More modern developments have learned from the mistakes of the past. The story of the Kentlands is probably some bad timing when it came time to build out the retail and Alfandre's vision wasn't completed. There are family business that succeed in the Kentlands, not really sure why one place makes it and another doesn't, especially when you put out a good product.
  9. Is Ollie's as good as Shack Shack or Five Guys? --Credit, Washington Post. As a side note, get the fries if you check it out. Great memories!
  10. When the sheriff evicts you, I am pretty sure it means you have to close. "Rockville Royal Dragon Restaurant Ordered To Vacate" by Justin Katz on washingtonjewishweek.com
  11. With the exception of the fries, I have never understood the Five Guys fascination. Maybe just a bit better than McDonald's. I had a burger last weekend at the new Shake Shack at MGM, that was a good burger. What I remember most about it was the char.
  12. Although I didn't really look that deep beyond the spicy offerings, I recall there being options. There is also a full American Chinese menu. Also, you are allowed to select the spiciness of the hot pot. I have always chosen the spiciness and didn't get blown away, but there is a good amount of peppercorns in there for numbness.
  13. Evidently, there is already one in DC and there will be a second location. Has anyone tried this place out? I don't really know what to think. Is this what its coming to? Credit--Washingtonian.
