Here is your test assignment: 1) Click on the little blue "Reply" button on the bottom-right of this screen. 2) You'll notice this post is in the new screen, surrounded by "HTML" tags. 3a) Go in and remove everything but this letter: X 3b) (... making sure to leave the HTML tags intact!) 4) Type the letter "Y" immediately underneath, with no blank lines. 5) Scroll down and click on "Add Reply" (right next to the Preview Post button). You should see your reply looking like this. X Y If it doesn't look like that, click on the "Edit" button, edit what you typed, then scroll down and click on "Submit Modified Post." There should be only one blank line above the "Y." If that's not the case, make sure the "Y" is immediately beneath the [/ quote] (without any additional blank lines in between). Good luck! That said, this is clearly bad design. I have to hit my backspace key several times before typing each time I reply to what someone says. I think it's a lot to expect of people—especially those who aren't familiar with HTML. It's like requesting that people tap their pencil or pen three times on their head before they begin writing. I played with it for a half hour last year, until I realized that you couldn't solve it without software that computed numbers larger than the overflow on the PC... But now everyone seems to be single-spacing after quoted text, i.e., putting ZERO blank lines in (that's bad). So I refer all users (both n00bs and grizzled) to this little test which will give you good, solid practice in double-spacing after a box of quoted text. (Note, however that to negative double-space you must insert a blank line between your text, and the quoted text (a convenient memory tool is that the blank line can be considered a "minus sign."))
