  1. Is Andy’s open only for take-out or can you eat there?
  2. I love the fact that you can get a boozy drink with a slice at Andy’s.
  3. Kizuna has table service on their patio during the pandemic. To be clear, it's not in the mall but nearby. The kids like the gyozas (actually they're pot stickers), I thought the ramen was okay. We'd go back.
  4. If POTUS survives, will he praise his Mickey D's diet?

  6. I checked out the Officina pop-up in G'town this past weekend. Not sure what the arrangement is with Via Umbria, but the city has allowed restaurants to take over one lane of Wisconsin Ave on each side. So I had a table on Wisconsin Ave, away from the pedestrians and shielded from traffic. The menu is very limited, what you see on the website is what you get in person. They didn't have any vegetable sides so I was compelled to order an arugula salad for $14. $14 for uncooked greens is not a great return for my money but it was a tasty salad. My primi was bucatini with crab meat and sea urchin. The pasta texture was perfect, the flavor of the dish overall is excellent, but I wouldn't say the dish was swimming with crab meat or sea urchin. At $31 per plate, I almost ordered a second but for the fact that I already ordered the branzino. The fish itself is perfectly cooked but I must admit I wasn't crazy about fish with a light watery sauce, made the fish more fishy tasting than I would've preferred (it was very mildly fishy, maybe some people like it that way, but I prefer fish to taste not at all fishy, except when it needs to be really fishy, it's just complicated).
  7. A proper pour of champagne and sparkling wine is 4 oz. I know this because I've thought the pour is stingy when I had champagne in Europe and I looked it up.
  8. Everton actually started their rebuilding process by hiring a good manger in Carlo Ancelotti. With a partial owner willing to splash cash on a top manager, it signaled that Everton means business. Good manager + cash + decent scouting brought in a whole new mid-field to Everton. Ancelotti also brought out the best in their front players. Nevertheless, Roger Bennett made fun of their shirt sponsor, Cazoo. He said it meant cock in Italian. I tried to look it up, I think cock in Italian is Cazzo. Liverpool still looks like the team to beat. Man City's defense is as shoddy as ever so they may stay at #2. Chelsea and United are inconsistent. Arsenal may even jump over the latter two. Leicester looks good so far but they don't have the squad depth. Barcelona didn't rebuild, in fact, they just dumped a bunch of their aging overpaid players, including one Luis Suarez, who joined Atletico Madrid and in his first 20 minutes made 1 assist and scored 2 goals. With no money, Barca couldn't sign anyone so they hired a new manager who brought in a new formation that doesn't seem to "depend" on Messi. So Barca had the talent, they were just sitting on the bench while the old celebrated players got their asses whooped by Bayern in the Champions League last season to the tune of 8-2. Real Madrid won last year because of dodgy refereeing. They may do it again this year because Real made no signins to improve the team, and they already benefitted from some dodgy calls in the game vs. Real Betis. While Bayern Munich and PSG will easily win their respective leagues, it's not as certain for Juve to retain their title.
  9. Steve and I had their Peking duck 3 ways a long time ago. The Peking duck was on par with Peking Gourmet - decent but nothing to get excited over. The soup was rich, on the salty side that time. Duck stirred fried with bean sprouts is good - worth trying. I notice that there’s no dine in. I think Peking duck would suffer in transit.
  10. Good quality but it was a mess last Friday. They got so busy people were seated at back to back boothes. The tables next to us weren’t 6 feet away either. Is it worth the premium? I’d drive a little further to Vinh Kee. We only picked Han because it’s new and has a patio, but it was too cold to sit outside so we sat inside and I was not happy with the infringement on our space.
  11. Hipster scene, the quality of ingredients is good but the sauces are weird (spicy cucumber salad, shumai, stuff from the robata all have flavors that are different from expectation and not in a good way). The kids said never again. The scallop nigiri (hotate) was fantastic though (at $7 per piece).
  12. Thinking about taking the kids to O-ku. They don't eat raw fish (yet) but I think they would enjoy some rolls and robata grilled stuff. Anyone been recently? P.S. outdoor dining and reservation available on Opentable.
  13. I've been searching for chicken fried steak, and one place that I was going to explore is Bob and Edith's. Based on that pic and your review, I'll skip it. I had chicken fried steak at Founding Farmers tonight, as bad as always (been years since I ate there).
  14. I thought about going back to Portland, ME for Labor Day weekend (stopping and picking up my bro in NJ on the way to and fro). The trip failed to materialize because my SIL couldn't get time off. I wouldn't drive straight to Portland (8.5 hrs is too long).
  15. Years ago we went to VA Beach and found there's not much to see. We went back during the winter only for whale watching, which is fun for the kids. There's also an aquarium there. We also spent a night in Colonial Williamsburg. I personally don't care for beaches. The Hyatt House is pretty nice.
  16. I’ve only stayed in low rises since the pandemic started. Bavarian Inn, Boar’s Head Resort, Wylder Tilghman Island, and Periwinkle Inn (Cape May). We stayed at the Hyatt House in VA Beach. It was quiet during the off-season.
  17. Cape May. Restaurants to avoid: C-View and Merion Inn. Restaurants to visit: Peter Shields Inn and Washington Inn. Decent Breakfast: Aleathea's. All the above restaurants have outdoor dining. In general, people aren't masked while outdoors and didn't do much to maintain social distancing. I'm of the opinion it doesn't take a president to make us safe, it just takes diligence and common sense, which apparently most many Americans lack.
  18. I haven't used cash since March. The smallest bill I have is $20. How do I tip hotel housekeeping?
  19. I've hidden maybe 95% of the posters in that group. Repetitive questions, poor recommendations, ridiculous raves, restaurants pimping themselves, etc.
